Central location and the hotel itself is beautiful. The decor, layout, etc is great. Even the initially unnerving chanting in the lift creates a sense of peace. Attentive reception upon check in. Two areas of improvement. Bar area on the whole is polite but slow. Several times waiting too long for orders to be fulfilled or signed for. Staff on the whe polite but perhaps thin on the ground resulting in delays. Also the WiFi - it's not a holiday resort and I was restricted to one device, which happened to be my phone. When I then tried to log on for a business call on my iPad I couldn't and was instructed that I was already logged on. Even disconnecting on my phone didn't allow me to connect so my business call had to be conducted on my phone. Not at all ideal. I'm not sure I would stay again.

Room Tip: If you need decent WiFi, avoid. Also avoid if you need fast service. However, beautiful decor...

Hotel was in an excellent location and decor was stylish enough. Although we booked through Marriott, we learned when we arrived that none of our normal platinum perks were applicable because they are a Design hotel and not really part of Marriott. Rooms are nicely decorated but are a bit on the smaller side. Although we were told we received an upgrade we had no view and looked out onto a roof. If you have a room with a connecting door to another room be prepared to use the earplugs that they leave in your room as there is zero sound barrier. Front desk staff was very kind and helpful always saying hello and providing us with additional waters when requested. The worst part of our stay was our visit to the lounge. We had an absolutely horrible experience with the bartender Ricky. The entire experience was upsetting enough that we spoke with a manager and were told that we are not the first people to complain about how they were treated by Ricky but that he has worked there for a long time and there's nothing they can do. The manager was very nice and offered a free breakfast that we declined. In summary, a decent choice if you're staying for free on points and don't care about receiving your normal status perk...I would not pay to stay there.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your review. We're pleased that you found our location to be convenient for your requirements, and appreciate your kind words towards our front desk team. However, we apologize for any misunderstanding regarding your membership benefits, as you mention, we are not part of Marriott brand and we recommend that in the future, before your arrival, please do not hesitate to check our website or contact us directly to inquire about the benefits that we provide to our guests. We are also sorry to hear that you found your upgraded room to be smaller than you had expected. We do have varying categories of rooms with different sizes and views and would have been happy to help you find a room better suited to your requirements. Please let us know your preferences on your next visit. Moreover, we are sorry to hear that you were disturbed and if informed, we would have been happy to find a comfortable solution for you. Additionally, we regret to hear that you found the service received at our bar to be below the standards expected of us. Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention; rest assured your comments have been duly noted and will be addressed with the concerned party. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future. With best wishes, The Dominican Team T. +32 (0)2 203 08 08 - info@thedominican.carlton.be

This hotel was not up to standards for the price or for Marriott for a property of this caliber. While the lobby and common areas were beautiful, our room was substandard, not well maintained and frankly not clean. Given the standard of cleanliness it was left, I don’t feel that an extra clean would have even helped. There were stains on the chairs, bed and blinds. We found large (US quarter sized) particles of food next to the bed, there was toothpaste on the wall paper and cabinets in the bathroom, the bathroom glass had what appeared to be a pattern, but on closer inspection was just soap grime that had clearly never been cleaned, the bathroom had a distinct smell of urine, and when I opened the cabinets they had a distinct odor and huge dust bunnies were visible. The room in general needed additional maintenance as the wear and tear was far above normal standards for a hotel of this advertised caliber. The vanity in the bathroom was pulling away from the wall. In addition, the room was falsely advertised as being climate controlled which essentially just meant “has heat” which is required and air conditioning was not available. We were on the 5th floor next to the gym which was not a problem, but there was a clanging noise from the hall frequently at all hours of the day until late at night that kept us awake. Finally, when we arrived water was not available due to maintenance (fine) and then hot water was not available until the next day meaning so for over half our stay we didn’t have available water to shower. The front desk did give us breakfast as compensation, but on top of everything else, I would never recommend this hotel. We were only there for 2 nights but if our stay had been longer, we would have booked at another local hotel.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. While we are glad you appreciated the attractive design of our lobby and common areas, we are sorry that you were not entirely satisfied with your stay. We sincerely regret that you felt our high standards were not met and that you did not inform our team members about this and your concern with the temperature of the room at the time, so we could have taken action. We are also sorry to hear that you were disturbed and for the temporary issue with the water. Rest assured we have taken good note of your comments to be addressed with the relevant teams. Furthermore, we do carry out maintenance whenever necessary to keep our rooms up to date and in good condition, however, rest assured we will consider the points you raise. We hope you will return for an improved experience in the future. Kind regards, The Dominican Team T. +32 (0)2 203 08 08 - info@thedominican.carlton.be

Had an amazing stay over the holidays and enjoyed the daily buffer breakfast and gym and sauna facilities. Had a couple of baths during my stay and enjoyed that as well. Didn't have any choice of getting room service after midnight because they had limited stock so couldn't order what i wanted that day.

For my husband's birthday, I surprised him with this beautiful romantic hotel. The whole hotel smelled so nice. We stayed in the Deluxe Room. Beautiful clean rooms, the bed was wonderful we slept as angels ☺️. We had our diner at the Grande place restaurant, and I must confess that the service was just wow, we received all the attention needed, and they took the time to explain the wine/food choices. The little details like my chair sliding so I can sit and respectfully put the napkins on my lap. What great gentlemen are they. They even took a beautiful picture of us. We also enjoyed the atmospheric lounge bar with delicious cocktails. Thank you for this wonderful weekend. The only downside is that we couldn't enjoy it forever. Definitely until next time.

Hotel is great in all aspects, location, cleanliness, lobby, bar, Reception staff super kind polite and always ready to help. Minutes away from Grand Place and all the other famous spots. Mins away from all the shopping streets too. Room was clean and very nicely decorated. The bar is beautiful and they sure know how to serve a drink and one can relax and truly enjoy the luxury and peace. Highly recommended.

I was lucky enough to use a Marriott promo for 2 free nights at this hotel. They provided me with a king bed as requested and even gave me a courtyard view for a bonus. There was a problem with the key cards not working on the door but they dealt with it quickly and professionally. The room and service were amazing. I also particularly love all the sustainability/eco-friendly steps they have taken from no small plastic bottles and also giving you an incentive to not have your room services and towels changed. The location was amazing! Frank is just across the road for fantastic brunch and the wolf food market if you're looking for a trendy fun dinner/drinks. The only pointer was the room was quite hot - ac didn't seem to do anything but we were able to sleep with the window open.

I have travelled all over the world but the Dominican is absolutely unique. Top end facilities but so tastefully done it always feels like a warm embrace to come there. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are excellent and the beds are so good I got in touch with their supplier and bought one for back home!
