Cute Hotel in an excellent location. My daughter and I had a twin room facing the Rue Des Bouchers. Unlike other reviewers, noise was not an issue for us. Staff were friendly, there is an artistic vibe and nice furniture. The rug in the room could do with a good clean, and there is no fridge therefore no milk to have with your coffee, but reception are happy to bring it up for you. Would stay here again!
This hotel is right in the heart of...everything. You are surrounded by stores, bars, and cafes, and Le Grande Place is only a 5 minute walk away. Other reviewers have complained about the noise, but to me that's the price you pay for being centrally located. As other reviewers have mentioned, the street it is on has no car access, but it wasn't a problem. When the cab dropped us off we only had to walk about 1/2 block to reach the hotel. When a cab came to pick us up very early in the morning, they drove right up to the front of the hotel to get us. Best thing about this hotel was the room. It was by far the largest hotel room I've ever stayed in anywhere in Europe. The floors are wood, and the room felt like it was a nicely appointed apartment. The bathroom was the best: large shower with great water pressure, and one of the largest free standing tubs I've ever seen. Staff was really nice and helpful. Can't say enough good things about Hotel des Galeries.…
This old residence, converted to a hotel at some point is tucked into a very busy and very noisy street with no vehicle access. If you book here, be prepared to drag your luggage over heavily cobblestoned streets for a few blocks. Good access to Grande Place and other tourist destinations, but our room was an awkward layout and the white towels may have been clean, but were very stained and unwelcoming, as was the carpet in the room. Be prepared to stand outside waiting to be let into the hotel when no one is at the front desk, as the front door is locked 24/7 with no guest access unless a staff member is present to let you in. Very noisy until at least 10-10:30 pm and beyond due to proximity to bars and restaurants.
Modern, upscale and very clean. Wonderful location. The staff were all exceptionally competent and helpful. Can be noisy but air conditioning allows the window to be close and quiet. Room was large with a king bed. Recommend top floor. Breakfast was good at a reasonable price if included.
The room was lovely, the location great and the staff was extremely helpful. They had an amazing breakfast in a beautiful setting. They spoke English and helped us to find things that we needed for our stay. Very conveniently located by the train station (5 minute walk). Would recommend this place to anyone.
The location is wonderful, within easy walking distance of many great restaurants and chocolate stores, the central train station (not to be confused with the international Brussels-Midi station). The first stops on both the red line and the blue line of the hop-on hop-off Tootbus are just a few blocks away, as are the Magritte Museum, the Musical Instrument Museum, and several lovely parks. The staff are delightfully helpful and speak many languages. We did not try on the on-site restaurant but it sure smelled good.
Great location, best place in town, helpful staff, quality breakfast, clean rooms. The only thing I didn't like was our room on the fourth floor, actually in the attic right under the roof and it was hot and the window was tiny. I can recommend this hotel.
In short, the good things about this hotel are the size of the room and the location. Many other reviews describe these aspects well so I won't reiterate them here. I don't usually bother to write reviews, but I don't feel like the current rating reflects our experience here. Unfortunately, I wouldn't consider staying here again for several reasons. The worst aspect was the noise. Yes, you're staying in a popular area in a dense European city so street noise is to be expected. This hotel had the worst street noise we experienced on our trip, but that isn't their fault, and again not really unexpected. The issue was with interior noise as there does not seem to be any soundproofing. I could hear full conversations in the rooms above, below, and across the hall. This was the most ridiculous interior noise in a hotel I have ever experienced and honestly was worse than most hostels I used to stay at. Because of all the noise, we barely slept the two nights we stayed at the hotel. Both nights we used high-quality earplugs but it just wasn't enough. We had other smaller issues with the hotel but none were as awful as the interior noise level. I like firm mattresses, but this was the hardest bed I've ever experienced and was so uncomfortable. Every morning we had back/shoulder/neck pain from the bed. Our room had a lovely big freestanding bathtub and yet no robes, washcloths, or conditioner? Overall the experience was just confusing as it seemed like they were scrimping in such a way that did not match the overall design of the hotel.…
Small, wonderful, atmospheric hotel with rooms over looking the a covered up-scale shopping gallery. Rooms are large and comfortable with an old-timey feel. Bathroom is clean and colorful. Centrally located, near the Grand-Place and other tourist sites. Very helpful staff. Unconditionally recommended.
I am lying in bed after midnight, listening to a very obnoxious alarm going off in the street below. Today was wonderful- we arrived to a clean room (Duplex attic suite) in an amazing location, with the most helpful front desk staff. This hotel is lovely in every way but one- the very noisy bar/restaurant patrons can be heard until after midnight, even with the windows closed! (Bonus- it was hot today so I am roasting up here). I think other rooms may be quieter, so inquire about quieter options when booking!
