Ibis off Grand Place is well situated hotel, but this is also very, very expansive hotel for too small room without fridge, tea pot and others accessories . Evan the breakfast is better in some other Ibis hotels.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Otherwise, there isn’t much that makes it stand out more than its competition. I got the standard room. The size of the room is on the smaller side, but it’s not a big deal for me. Maybe because I’m a frequent visitor to Japan and is accustomed to small rooms, so it could feel different for others. The room was clean and well-maintained. There is a power cube on the desk with two USB ports along with a few power points, which is handy. The hotel provided an all-in-one soap/shampoo/body wash in the bathroom. I’m not a fan of these all-in-one soap/shampoo but it’s a personal preference, so I don’t fault the hotel for it. I did find it a bit odd that the hotel did not have toothbrushes and toothpaste available in the room - you have to ask for it in the front reception. I have seen other hotels doing this in an effort to reduce cost, but they normally have the toothbrushes and toothpastes in a basket near the front reception so that guests can help themselves. The hotel also do not provide slippers. This is fine for me, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re the type who likes to wear the slippers when in the room. Overall, the room was adequate. If anything, I really would have liked to have a box of facial tissues in the room though. The breakfast was nice. Standard Belgian/European breakfast with eggs, sausages, muesli, cereals, bread, cheese, and ham. It’s not the most amazing thing ever, but it’s definitely better than a lot of breakfast buffets that I’ve been to at other hotels. The bottom line is that this is a decent hotel to stay at, but don’t blow your budget over it.

Hotel is OK, if a bit no-frills considering the price. Breakfast was fine. Location is excellent. But for a business traveller it is imperative to have a full VAT receipt. When you ask for this you are told it will be emailled to you. This does not arrive. I travelled with two colleagues and their receipts didn't arrive either. If you try to file a complaint via the website contact form, that doesn't work either - as soon as you type in Brussels it produces an extra mandatory field to fill in with a drop down list with nothing on it and then refuses to accept your complaint form because the field is blank ... so it is impossible to submit a contact form to ask for a receipt. I tried ringing the helpline which plays appalling earache muzac for ten minutes then cuts you off. So this one scores very low on customer service.

I honestly don't understand the good reviews for this hotel. Nor do I understand where this hotel fits in the price / value range for the area. For a similar price, you can find much nicer places in the same area. This Ibis is basically like a youth hostel / dorm room / backpacker hotel, with extremely tiny rooms, literally no space to even put your luggage (we put it in the floor and had to climb over it to get to the toilet - no, I'm not exaggerating), no basic amenities like coffee, or even facial tissues, in the rooms, etc. Just a super bare bones, tiny place to sleep, which is perfectly fine, but if that is all you want, you can find that in the same area for a lower price (maybe much lover). Which leaves me completely confused about this hotel and all the people giving it good reviews. If you have luggage, it doesn't work. If you want to spend this much money on a hotel, it can and should be a much nicer place. If you just want a super simple, cheap place to sleep, you can find much cheaper. I stay in Brussels a lot and have always considered this hotel, so I finally stayed there for 2 nights, which will probably be my first and last. The place was reasonably clean / average, which was OK, the staff was nice and friendly, and Yes, the location, the main draw here, is excellent. If you are looking for simple and can get it for a really low price, do it, but take the time to do some research on some other options. For the price, I expected a typical nice hotel. I rarely feel gouged on price, because I do my research and typically know very well what to expect, but this one got me. Buyer beware. :)
