Nestled in the heart of Brussels, the Novotel Brussels Off Grand Place Hotel garners praise for its stellar location, mere steps from key attractions and transit options. While the amenities might strike some as rather basic or showing age, the overall cleanliness of the hotel receives high marks. Guests have mixed feelings about the service, encountering both commendable professionalism and disappointing lapses.
The comfort and size of the rooms are recognized, despite some criticism regarding their outdated style and quirky bathrooms. As for value, opinions are divided, with several guests questioning the balance between cost and experience, particularly highlighting the pricey breakfast.

This hotel has an enviable location, behind the Gare Centrale from which trains depart and arrive to and from Brussels National airport (the main one, about 14 km away from the train station, travel time 17 to 20 minutes maximum) and very close to various metro stops. The strong point is therefore certainly the localization. Furthermore, in less than 3 minutes of walking through the center you can reach the main square, the Grand Place, with its majesty.
We were in a double superior, the size of which was quite small; also consider that there is no bidet, but the bathroom is divided into two separate and non-communicating rooms, one very small where only the toilet is located and the other a little more spacious where there is a sink, shower and bathtub, in classic Nordic style. A small wardrobe, a little sacrificed, is located at the entrance just behind the door. The beds are very comfortable and everything is always very clean! Obviously the carpet is everywhere, as in Nordic custom.
As for breakfast, it is in excellent continental style, both savory and sweet, in a large space on the ground floor, well furnished, as is the hall which revolves around the centrally located reception. Sofas of good taste and color, very nice furniture. The staff at both the reception and the breakfast room are very kind and available to satisfy requests. At the last minute we asked to do a late check-out and in a short time we were told that fortunately it was possible and at an absolutely honest cost, so thanks for this too!
Definitely if I were to return to Brussels, I would rely on this hotel again. Absolutely recommended!!!

This hotel is located right in the heart of Brussels and 2 mins walk from Central Station.
What marks this hotel out though is the comfort of the room, airy and spacious with one of the highest and conformist double beds I’ve ever seen. An added bonus was a separate toilet and shower room, handy if you are sharing with someone who takes too long in the shower.
They cater for business and tourism and everyone is made to feel very welcome. The rooms also have USB ports to charge your devices.
Whatever your reason for visiting Brussels you can get to it easily from here whether walking or every conceivable method of transport on the doorstep.
The majority of the main sites are within walking distant though some you may want to take the Metro. Food and drink options are plentiful in the vicinity and of course more chocolatiers than residents it seems.
Highly recommended

Dear Guest, Thank you for this great review. It brings us great joy to know that our central location served you well, placing you in the heart of Brussels just moments away from both the Grand-Place and Central Station. We spent 3 nights at the Novotel Brussels off Grand Place and had booked a double room. The staff was very friendly, our room was spacious and clean, but the hotel's excellent location is particularly worth mentioning. It's less than 5 minutes' walk to what is probably the most beautiful square in the world (Grand Place). The train station (Gare centrale) is also next door (3 minutes' walk). There are numerous restaurants, bars and shops in the area. We particularly liked the fact that the bathroom and toilet were separate from each other in our room. There was a kettle with tea and coffee making facilities in the room, as well as a small fridge. The extensive breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired, the area is large and there are no waiting times. You should definitely try the waffles (pancakes)! We can recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to explore the city in a few days and values comfort.

I had a very disappointing experience with this hotel’s customer service, particularly with Florentina. We booked a room with a double bed and a sofa bed, which was perfectly suitable for our family (two adults, an 8-year-old, and a 4-year-old). However, Florentina insisted that we had to pay an extra €35 for an "upgrade" because they count a 4-year-old as a full extra person.
I repeatedly clarified that we did not need an extra bed—we were happy with the existing setup. Yet, she rigidly refused to accommodate us, despite the fact that countless other hotels in Europe allow small children to stay with parents in similar room configurations. When I pointed out that their own booking pictures contradict her claims about the room layout, she dismissed it and told me to cancel if I didn’t agree. The room she wanted us to upgrade to was actually less suitable for us, as the sofa bed was in a separate area from the main bed. The room we originally booked had all beds in the same space, which is why we specifically chose it.
This lack of flexibility and customer care is unacceptable. I have stayed in over 100 hotels across Europe, and this is the first time I’ve encountered such an unreasonable policy. If you’re traveling as a family, especially with young children, I’d strongly advise looking elsewhere.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with the room configuration and the interaction with our team member. We take pride in accommodating families and try to offer a variety of room types to meet different needs, including rooms with a double bed and sofa beds that can accommodate up to two adults and two children. We understand how important it is for families to have a comfortable and convenient room layout, and we regret that the options provided did not meet your expectations on this occasion. Furthermore, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the information provided regarding our child policy. We welcome guests of all ages and strive to ensure clear communication regarding any additional charges that may apply. It is regrettable that there was a misunderstanding in this case. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention and assure you that we will review our policy and communication to prevent such occurrences in the future. Additionally, we understand that the level of service you experienced from our staff did not align with the high standards we set for ourselves. We are taking your feedback seriously and will address it with our team to ensure that we continue to provide the quality of service our guests expect and deserve. We look forward to welcoming you very soon. Best regards, Jurgen Van der Haegen, General Manager

Average place to stay in. Best part is the location as it is next to the palace, is well connected by metro and trains and is dotted with restaurants, cafes and shopping joints. Staff is courteous, but quite transactional. When you enter, hardly anyone makes eye contact with you or welcomes you unless you initiate a conversation. Also, the lobby feels like a co-working space to me, like a thoroughfare with so much happening that it seems multiple units are operating inside.
Cleaning is basic, breakfast buffet is tad boring and repetitive, with most options being for cold items. Best part about breakfast is fresh orange juice and good choice of fresh fruits and pancake maker machine. They also have some good choice of breads and spreads, but scrambled eggs could be a lot better and enticing.
Overall, they score over many because of the location, time to take their level up (like prices already have) to live up to Novotel's name.

Dear Ankita, We would like to thank you for this review about your recent experience in our hotel. We are delighted to hear that our central location met your expectations, offering convenience and proximity to Brussels' iconic attractions. We regret to hear that the lobby atmosphere and room size did not match your expectations. While our lobby is designed to be a vibrant and dynamic space, we understand that it may not be to everyone's taste, and we apologize if this caused any inconvenience. Regarding the room size, we strive to offer comfort and functionality within the heart of the city, where space can be at a premium. Our staff aims to deliver the highest level of service and while they are typically known for their courteousness, we apologize if you felt the welcome was not warm enough. We also appreciate your comments on our cleaning standards and will look into this matter to ensure it meets the high standards we set for ourselves. The breakfast we offer aims to cater to a variety of tastes, and we are glad you enjoyed the fresh orange juice and the selection of fruits and breads. We are always looking to improve, so we take note of your feedback regarding the hot breakfast options. We understand that the value for the price paid is an important aspect of your stay, and we are sorry to hear that you felt it was not in line with your expectations. We take pride in providing a quality experience and will certainly review your feedback in our continuous efforts to enhance our services. Jurgen Van der Haegen, General Manager

Great location, close to the Central Station and the Grand Place, and well soundproofed. High rates (around 200 € per night excluding breakfast) for a basic but decent room, whose furniture and paintings would however benefit from refreshment. Breakfast expensive (26€ per person) and disappointing: no yoghurt in jar, you just have to serve in a large jatte a white product that looks more like white cheese; only hyper sweet cereals; containers often empty and renewed at a moderate pace; room not very clean (I walked the first day in what seemed like oil or spilled syrup); cold boiled eggs; pancakes to make yourself; no waffle (in Brussels!); some smother cakes; the reception staff wipes the cutlery or clears the tables at the same time: not very classy; the machine pressed oranges disappears at the weekend... Everything gives a painful impression of savings (you are offered the bottle of water in the room on the 1st day, but not the following days???), and the value for money does not seem enough to go back.

This hotel is in the perfect location for all of Brussels famous attractions, it is situated just off Grand Place around 75m in a very vibrant and cosmopolitan area. The hotel is off a high standard we stayed in room 409 on the fourth floor over looking lots of restaurants and bars, and with a good view of grand place, the room was of a very good size lots of storage space and a good size bathroom and separate toilet. Staff where warm and friendly and knowledgeable. We had breakfast which was included and had a good selection of hot and cold food and would definitely recommend staying here.

My husband and I just stayed at the Novotel Brussels Off Grand Place for the fifth time, and it finally lived up to our expectations.
The renovations have finally been completed, and the hotel looks good. Staff is fine, and they graciously allowed us a later checkout on the day of departure. The rooms are spacious, but I still don’t understand the bathroom placement - which literally opens out right onto the bed. This also means that the bathroom light shines directly onto the person sleeping - it’s such a terrible design flaw.
That being said, the location of this hotel is excellent, and the reason why we keep staying there. You’re literally a 1-minute walk from Grand Place, and 30 seconds from Les Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert.
This hotel is all about location, and we’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Brussels.

Dear Guest, Thanks for your review about our hotel. We are delighted that the recent renovations have met your expectations and that our staff's flexibility regarding checkout added to your comfort. However, we understand your concerns about the bathroom design and appreciate your feedback on this matter. We continually strive to improve our guest experience and will take your comments into account for future improvements. Finally, it is wonderful to know that our prime location continues to bring you back to us. Booked two Executive Room (not Superior Room) as I prefer modern bathrooms. After reading another traveler's experience of his Executive Room having a Superior Room bathroom, I emailed to the hotel to ensure this does not happen to both of my reservations. The hotel response was "it depends on availability when you check in" (hmmh). At check-in (checked in at 1pm), I asked if the Executive room has the right bathroom (I even showed a photo of the bathroom on the hotel's website), the hotel staff said "Yes, you booked the best room in the hotel". When I opened the doors of the 2 Executive Rooms, both Executive Rooms have Superior Room's bathrooms! I gave up and just lived with it because I do not believe the hotel and their staff get it. If these hotel staff shopped at an online site and got a different product, would they be ok with it?
Definitely do NOT spend more money booking their Executive Rooms for the modern bathroom. Do not trust this hotel's website photos.

I am really pleased we stayed in this hotel for our recent family holiday to Brussels. We stayed in a superior double which had a king size bed plus 2 single sofa beds which my 7 year old found very comfortable. Lovely spacious room on the 2nd floor which had a window that opened overlooking the street just up from a little square the hotel faces on to. Wasn’t noisy at all. The room got very warm when the sun moved round later in the day but the air conditioning kept the temperature comfortable and gave us a bit of white noise to sleep to. Bathroom had a bath & shower cubicle, and a separate toilet which was all super clean and plenty of towels & toiletries restocked during our 3 night stay. Breakfast was standard buffet fare - cereals, fruit, pastries, plus hot items and a crepe & fresh waffle stand. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast crew in particular were great. Location cannot be beat - you are just one street away from the Grand Place and a minute walk from the Centraal station which is a main hub for trains and metros which were super easy to navigate using Apple Maps. There is also a carreforre express supermarket at the station so we could pick up big bottles of water each day to keep in the fridge in our hotel room. We want to return to brussels for a Christmas market and this hotel will be our preferred choice!
