Nestled in the vibrant heart of Brussels, Hotel Amigo garners accolades for its stellar location, with guests enjoying easy access to historic sites and local shopping. The rooms are often described as spacious sanctuaries, despite some voices suggesting a modern refresh. Amenities like exceptional dining and live bar music contribute to the hotel's high marks, although travelers do pine for in-room coffee makers. While the atmosphere is deemed both elegant and lively, the hotel's cleanliness stands out as a universal commendation. Though regarded as a premier destination, some guests mention that the value is diminished slightly by the costs of certain extras. The service at Hotel Amigo generally shines, noted for staff cordiality and expertise, notwithstanding occasional lapses in speed.

My wife and I stayed here for only one night in order to attend our nephew's wedding. We came by Eurostar and arrived in Brussels at 6pm on the day before the wedding and took the 6pm Eurostar back to London the following day so all a bit rushed but thanks in large part to The Amigo hotel ( and to the lovely people we met at the wedding) we managed to relax and thoroughly enjoy ourselves.
We had interconnecting rooms which were large, well appointed, very clean with very comfortable beds . Both rooms had bathtubs with showers over the bath, the water pressure was fantastic. A big plus for me was that we enjoyed almost complete silence during the night, doubtless due to good soundproofing but also in so many, even five star, hotels we have been kept awake by , I assume residual noise from air conditioning and central heating ducts and pipes but in this case once I turned the aircon off in my room - blissful silence.
We greatly enjoyed our meal in the hotel restaurant , Bocconi,. It is a very attractive space with comfortable seating and attentive staff. We had a very relaxed and enjoyable meal.
Mainly because our visit was so short and we hadn't visited Brussels before we really didn't want to risk getting lost or losing precious time looking for taxis etc, we asked the hotel to arrange for a car and driver to collect us from the train station on arrival and again to collect us from the wedding Reception, take us back to the Amigo where the hotel had allowed us to keep one of our rooms at no extra charge so we could change into travel clothes. The car then took us to the Station.
All in all , a wonderful first visit to Brussels. We wouldn't consider any other hotel if we do return and will definitely look out for other Rocco Forte hotels in the future.

I recently spent two nights at the Hotel Amigo. I was really impressed with hotel/hotel staff, but less so with the F&B program/staff. The hotel is a beautiful spot in possibly the best location a tourist can ask for - right outside The Grand-Place, Brussel's historic city center. You're pretty much close to everything!

Check-in was a breeze, and the desk agent and gentleman who escorted me to my room couldn't have been any kinder and helpful. I booked the most basic "Classic" accommodation, which was perfect for one person. Rooms were well decorated in the more tradition sense. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. It provided a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing and walking. I really loved the fact that they provided me with extra water bottles like I requested and especially enjoyed the Laurent Gerbaud chocolate. Be sure to stop by the Gerbaud shop, which is conveniently located right out the door

I wasn't quite impressed with the service provided at breakfast at Bocconi. There was one gentleman (wish I would've gotten his name)in particular who I know had something against me, and he made it so obvious. I've never been to a luxury property where I had to constantly request water and coffee, especially when you're the only one eating there. The breakfast selection was adequate, but a little lacking for a luxury property. I also ordered room service, more specifically the filet of beef with caponata. My medium rare steak ended up arriving well done and was average. I'm lenient with room service and usually expect red meat to arrive a level or two above your liking. The good news is that this particular restaurant was scheduled to close. Hopefully, the menu and some of the staff will get turned over.

All in all, I had a great stay at the Hotel Amigo and would not hesitate to return. There are so many excellent food options in Brussels that the lackluster F&B program would not deter me from staying here again. Aside from the lad at Bocconi, everybody I encountered at the hotel was lovely!

Dear markyP8507CW, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your constructive feedback following your stay at the Hotel Amigo Brussels, a Rocco Forte Hotel. Your feedback is valuable, enabling us to maintain the highest quality of service and continuously enhance our guest experience day after day. Since we first opened our doors in 1958, offering personalised service that is naturally welcoming, caring, and professional to everyone has been our hallmark, building the reputation we hold today. Knowing that you experienced this commitment from our hotel teams is a great source of motivation for all of us and our greatest reward. We are currently working to identify the gentleman at the front desk who escorted you to your room so that we can personally thank him on your behalf. However, we are equally concerned by your less satisfactory experience during your breakfast. We have taken your comments very seriously and shared them with our management team to ensure appropriate action is taken to prevent this situation in the future. We understand that our overall strength is measured by the consistency of our service, which ultimately leads to the full satisfaction of our guests. The upcoming reopening of our Bocconi restaurant on September 5th marks the beginning of a new chapter, with a refreshed design, concept, menus, and overall experience. We have also remodelled the facilities to optimise our breakfast service. Additionally, I am pleased to inform you that following the full renovation of our Bar Magritte last November and the imminent reopening of our Bocconi restaurant, we have already begun modernising our guest rooms and bathrooms. Among these updates is a new air conditioning system, and we are delighted to hear that it has positively impacted our guest comfort. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon, where we will strive to meet all your expectations, enjoy our Laurent Gerbaud chocolates once again, and discover our other local partners. Sincerely, Mr. Jan NIELSEN Managing Director

...in a good location. Our deluxe room was clean, quiet, with ample space in both the bedroom area and bathroom. A/C worked well and quietly. Our request for firm pillows was met promptly. Overall, a very nice hotel, albeit expensive.

Housekeeping overall was good except for a small (welcome?) fruit tray that was in our room on arrival. Since the fruit was uncovered and already warm, we did not eat it for safety reasons. Despite sitting untouched for two days, the maid service still did not remove it, and then later gnats and fruit flies hatched and were flying around the tray. We put the tray in the hallway on our last day and it was finally removed. ☹️

No coffee service in the room was a disappointment, especially considering the high room rate I paid. When I inquired at the front desk, I was told that a Nespresso machine is available for 15€ per day. Auw! ☹️

We were so looking forward to a stay at Hotel Amigo, which I used to walk past when I was a teenager, and hoped that I would be able to stay there again someday. Now the time had come and during our car trip through Belgium we of course made a reservation here and asked if we could possibly get a quiet room in the courtyard. We corresponded separately with the reservations department about this and received the promise that they would do their best. When we checked in, it turned out that this was not possible, but the nice receptionist told us that your room is very quietly located on the fifth floor. The room was okay, not luxurious, with a small window with a city view as it was called. Bathroom where you have to shower in the bath and about which I complained to the same receptionist the next day. It's unbelievable that people our age still have to step into a slippery bathtub to shower. And then balance with your feet to avoid the drain stopper and the shower hose of the hand shower against the sloping side of the bath. In addition, you had to place your head between the shower head and the taps and be careful not to knock out your teeth! And then you also have a sloping roof, to top it off! That was the limit for me and I thought I had been put in the wrong room type because the website shows completely different, more spacious rooms. The receptionist, together with a Dutch-speaking colleague whom she was training, spoke to me politely and offered to offer me another room for the remaining night. I refused because I thought it would be too much of a hassle to move for that one night. They then made a nice gesture and shortly afterwards I received an email from the quality manager with some explanation. So that was neat. What did annoy me is that the room was quiet with the windows closed, but as soon as you opened them the noise drove you crazy. Even at 5:30 in the morning. Lots of laughing from drunk people. It goes on here day and night and we like to sleep with the windows open because air conditioning always makes us sick. That is why I would have liked my request to be granted. Unfortunately, the bar was renovated and I think it will be nice. The super friendly doorman who gave us a fantastic welcome from the start directed us to a door where we could take a look at the new bar interior, but the concierge who was on evening duty stood so in front of it with his body that we barely saw anything. Apparently it wasn't intentional. We also found the people at the reception nice. We had a drink in the restaurant once because the small lounge was full. The breakfast buffet is fine with friendly service. We are really sorry to say that we were not pleased.

Bar
The entire bar staff is amazing , they know their rum and are all so creative. Christian, must be the lost identical brother of movie star Taye Riggs, and when he makes your mojito mm, have him share his creative twist ingredient that gives it a kick!

Concierge!
they are such an amazing team and one of the most knowledgeable. Jean was amazing with his recommendations. They ensure thar each guests that walk through the hotel doors are treated with personalized service.

Front Desk

efficient and friendly service was provided by all the front desk staff we interacted with. was impressed with the fluency of everyone's we were impressed with everyone’s fluent english, considering all the other languages they speak.,

Location
This property is centrally located and easy access to central station and to another stop to get to MIDI. One does not even need to take taxis unless you want to.

Miscellaneous.
They have the most comfortable slippers, and they fit your feet perfectly and do not look like you are wearing two left feet slippers.

We were on the high floor and a couple times I felt the room shaking, not sure what it was.

All in all, I highly recommend this property,

What a fantastic stay at the Hotel Amigo! We arrived after a very long travel day looking & feeling slightly haggard, and the front desk staff and assistants treated us five star all the way. We were even offered chocolates at check in. The room itself was fairly standard size for a European city like Brussels, and it was very well designed and furnished. There was a lot of closet space provided though, and the room service, especially morning coffee and tea, was outstanding. The location was very good with good access to the city and to Central train station. If I had one complaint it’s that the surrounding area did get quite busy most evenings.

The busy location aside, this is one location that lived up to reputation. I would definitely return to this hotel in the future.

I’m absolutely in love with the Hotel Amigo. I am here for the Plaisiers d’hiver festival and an onward river cruise. The hotel is perfectly located in the middle of town, close to everything. La Grand Place is steps away and the Christmas markets are a short walk. The hotel itself is the definition of perfection. Every staff member is professional and knowledgeable, from the concierge (who was brilliant, helping me to easily find my way around) to housekeeping staff who made sure my room was immaculate. The hotel is prettily decorated for the holidays, but subtly. My room was good sized ( and it was the lowest category) nicely decorated and had everything I needed. I had breakfast in the hotel and it was fantastic, with a buffet of incredible variety, as well as a great a la carte menu. Staff there were very good. If I visit Brussels again, I will only stay here, as I’ve truly been delighted with my stay

I visit Brussels very regularly and stayed at the Amigo four times in the past (all before covid). The hotel has a privileged location, aims to offer a luxurious experience to guests and a lovely breakfast.

I was therefore very happy and excited to book it again for two fairly special events for which I need to visit Brussels again in the first quarter of 2024. One of the booking came up at about €270/night and the other at about €350/night.

Sadly, a few days later, I received notice that my two booking had been unilaterally cancelled by the hotel without any apology or cancellation, I presume as the result of some miscommunication between the hotel and the OTA. One of the two bookings was for less than a month away and I cancelled another booking I held in another hotel to book the Amigo..

I'm lucky enough to stay in many luxury hotels and to me, luxury is not and cannot be primarily about marble bathrooms, nice biscuits in the bedroom or even a nice decor and great location. It has to be first and foremost about caring for your customers and treating them with professionalism and respect, which is exactly the opposite of what I am sadly experiencing on this occasion. I can only feel very let down, not least as a multiple return guest (without any incident I should add) and thoroughly disappointed.

Dear C7982LOmichaelb, Allow me to thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are always looking for ways to improve our service and we take your comments into serious consideration. Our account with Booking website was hacked through a cyberattack a few days ago and as a result we lost completely control over our data and the information was changed and room rates for the Hotel Amigo were lowered to an unrealistic level. Following this very regrettable incident, Booking.com has been contacting those affected and you should have been given the option of maintaining your reservation at the correct rate. I am truly sorry to read that you were given neither the correct explanation nor that option. Our primary goal at the Hotel Amigo is to offer our Guests an impeccable service and the warm hospitality they deserve - regardless of the number of times they have stayed with us - in order for them to live the most memorable experiences. If in this case this was not the case, I would like to extend to you my most sincere apologies. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly to rectify the matter. I will be delighted to assist you personally. With kind regards, Jan Nielsen Managing Director

The hotel's service is exceptional, making every guest feel valued and important, deserving of five stars.

The location of the hotel is excellent.

The hotel bar Magritte is exceptional in concept and decor. The bartender is first class.

The room was spacious, but the technology is outdated. There is no USB, and the electricity must have been wired before high-speed internet. There are no handy outlets at the bedside (you have to move the bed stand out of the way), and the plugs above the desk are for dial-up connections. The hotel supplies adaptors as a workaround.

The bathroom needs updating. The grout is cracked and missing in some places. There are rust stains at the base of the vanity where the legs meet the tile floor. The bath products are unmemorable.

The hallways and common areas of the hotel are pristine, with no knick or smudge anywhere to be seen, but the hallway decor is lackluster; there is nothing to inspire or please.

The good news is that the hotel is in the midst of a renovation to address concerns about technology and the bathrooms. But it's worth noting that the state of the hotel at present is uneven.

I cannot say enough about how perfect our stay was at the impeccable hotel! Every single team member at the hotel made us feel like we were VIP guests! The hotel is absolutely stunning and the Bar Magritte was our regular stop top to close each day. The cocktails are amazing and mixed by top level bar tenders who treat their craft as art. Joanna was fabulous at explaining the specialty drinks and a treat to watch making them. The bar it self is a work of art with perfect bright throwback music playing. Our room was very spacious with large double wardrobes with plenty of space to hang and store our items. The room was appointed with everything and more a traveler could need with a wonderful turn down service each night. The star of this hotel is most definately the staff! The decor is classic and updated, bed are wonderfully comfortable and considering the hotels location in the thick of the action in Brussels, we found it very quiet and a perfect sanctuary to rest. I would not hesitate to stay again at this hotel and recommend it to anyone wishing for a great value for a perfect 5 star stay!
