The hotel was absolutely awful, terrible and very much budget. I don’t recommend it at all. The garden is small. The room is tiny, the slippers were not included although I asked for them several times - imagine walking barefoot on the vinyl floor; it’s not pleasant at all! Coffee was disgusting, tea quite better but not every day someone added new bags, even if you were out. Paper cups are awful since you feel their taste while drinking a hot beverage.. The bathroom was quite ok, but again - no bidet and super poor cosmetics. The room was super far from the elevator and now the worst: the card was getting broken 5-6 times!!! Throughout the stay for 4 days. It’s a scandal, especially that every time you go to reception desk on Thursday there is a huge queue of mysterious origin. It was humiliating to have the key card locked every day. Only advantage this hotel has is the bed. It is huge, another plus is that it’s clean. But again, hotel looks old and worn out, the noise is hearable from room to another, the tv is only in Dutch. No English channels, only boring stuff. I got really angry for that. It is really budget hotel. You can see that from what I’ve been writing above, plus the location. It’s far from everything. There’s only one restaurant in front that of course is always crowded. The market downstairs is just to rob tourists that don’t know prices. Last but not least - I completely don’t understand the positive reviews I’ve seen on other portals - especially about the breakfast. It is ugly and overpriced. How can you serve pork to international environment!!!???? There was NO VEGETARIAN OPTIONS AT ALL, a lot of eggs, sausages - in general it’s very heavy food. There’s poor choice of bread, even fewer choices of additions. Juice from apple is so sweet that it burns the throat. Only drinkable option is milk. Fruits for take away are poorest possible, just apples and oranges. No watermelon nor seasonal things. They used tap water to do lemon water. Also, what is cola on the breakfast? I was thinking that someone went nuts. To hide the terrible taste of meat and cheese, they offer eggs and ketchup plus mustard. Honestly, there is no even real butter. The coffee is disgusting, sour and terribly distasteful. The tea is bad too. The service of the tables was ignorant to the requests, they just cleaned whatever I was still eating! It’s a scandal. On the second day I couldn’t go in the morning to the breakfast, I asked to serve it later, of course they didn’t. They ignored me, closed the fridge with cola on key, turned off coffee machine, and wiped out everything. Didn’t even left a glass of milk nor coffee. I asked them to do what they were asked, or at least return me the amount for the breakfast or offer me something in compensation, and they didn’t. I am very disgusted with this hotel, and worst experience ever. This hotel doesn’t deserve any price they ask for, it’s just too much. Goodbye, I’ll never be back again…
In reality simpler than the pictures may suggest, rather disappointing service (check-in took 30min with queu of only 5 ahead, restaurant closed, almost no staff). Building is modern with reasonable ok design. Location / neighborhood not the best. Overall ok to come for a basic, decent room, but not living up to expectations
We were impressed by the professionality of every staff member, truly a 5star experience. Reception, cleaning, everyone was fantastic. The lobby equally, had a genuine impact on us. However, we found the room itself to be disappointing: the bathroom fixtures did not work properly, we missed some details such as a mini-fridge or mini-bar, the tea kettle being next to an electric plug where the cable actually reaches it, it was a bit cold at night with just a thin blanket and the heating not turning on, some courtesy items would have been nice considering the price of the room (and that it was a King room not a standard one). We didn't have breakfast as 20eur per person it really too much, we travel a lot and it's always a maximum of 15eur, if not 8 or 10eur per person - also at 4star hotels. Overall, a good experience but not an excellent one - sorry!…
Non-smoking hotel. Bathroom of room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke on entry. Restaurant noted to be open till 2230 declined to offer food at 2210. Asked at reception whether there any local bars or restaurants 'No'. Asked if there was room service - 'yes'. Return to room. No menu in room - ring Room Service - 'ask Reception' - Reception rung - 'menu should be in room' - checked - it was not. Rang and asked Reception for menu 'there's only pizza and soup - leek soup'. Decided I would be better of dieting. Only two more days thank goodness.
Stayed 3 night at the end of January - lovely spacious, clean room with friendly and informative staff. Hotel reception/bar is lovely - quite a walk from the the shopping centre so a metro ticket is a must!
Booked through Hotels.com. Great price for a family suite for 4 nights over Christmas. Easy check in. The map they give at reception is ok, but the print is very small. Get a map of the metro / trams before you go if you can. Ticket machine at Thomas stop was not working during our stay. Go to Gard Du Nord station where all the trains, trams and metro run from and the machines work.Room was ready when we arrived. It was pretty clean overall, just some dust missed behind the unit under the tv, which we only discovered when we pulled unit out to plug in the desk lamp. Cleaners came and refreshed the room everyday which was great. Only thing was they tended to call quite early 8am. Not a problem if your up early anyhow. We liked a lie in, so just asked them politely if they’d come back after breakfast when we’d have gone out for the day. They didn’t seem to mind and were very lovely. Bath plug was missing from our room and so we let the gentleman on reception know in the morning, and by the time we had had breakfast it had been replaced. Sorry I didn’t get the gentleman’s name, but many thanks to him for such a swift service. Lobby area is stunning with a library, pool table and lounge. Breakfast had a good variety of continental and cooked items. The guide for the cooking of eggs in the hot bath egg thing is perfect. Bar staff are friendly and love to have a chat. Drinks are pricey but very good. Doesn’t make sense that a g&t was more expensive than a cocktail with lots of shots in like a Long Island ice tea for example. Also, on a couple of occasions both the bar receipt and dinner receipt had items on multiple times which is confusing. We queried this and the bar staff pointed out the extra items had been voided (shown by a tiny v symbol next to the item), but did not explain why this was being done. overall a wonderful stay and would book here again. …
We came as a couple for my birthday to visit for the first time. The room was ready in time and the check in all right, the receptionist was friendly. We have received a room on the 3rd floor, number 3329. The room seemed good but unfortunately wasn’t because was noisy and there was mould. We had air conditioning, coffee machine, toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. I have requested for another room because we could not sleep, the noise was terrible you could hear everything like housekeeping cleaning, people walking, people talking, people closing/opening the doors, etc and we have received a room on the second floor, number 2440 offered by the receptionist named Price who tried to help but didn’t offered much info however the new room had no coffee machine, no bathrobes, no air conditioning and the same noise. We have requested bathrobes and slippers and the receptionist informed us that they don’t provide and that they forgot to remove them from the previous room, how rude and unprofessional however they provided us later on with them. Breakfast is expensive for what they provide, not many choices. Food in general is limited and expensive. The corridors are smelling like food you can feel it on your clothes. We have asked to refill our shower gel and receptionist offered soap instead saying that she doesn’t know where housekeeping keeps them, a joke. Was not a nice experience for my birthday and I don’t see the 4 stars in this hotel. The room service was good and the gentleman really professional. My fiancé tried to make me a surprise for me asking the receptionist Saturday evening for a slice of cake or any deserts with candle, he wanted to buy but unfortunately they said that they don’t have anything not even a candle and they advised him to go and buy from outside. I definitely don’t recommend for couples, pregnant women’s or any visitors. …
Arrived at hotel for my birthday and it took 15 minutes to wait in the queue to check in. One arriving at our room the layout was lovely and spacious and the place was clean. We left our bags and got a taxi to Brussels central. Came back and around 11pm our room stank of marijuana and tobacco. My partner who has never smoked in his life and had throat cancer went downstairs to politely ask the reception if they could find who was smoking and ask them to stop, considering it was a NO SMOKING hotel. My partner came upstairs and 20 minutes later reception arrived at our room and we let him in and he advised us there was no smell at all. He said he would investigate. He never got back to us. The smell was potent for two hours until it faded. After the smell had faded two young Women knocked on our door strangely also smelling of marijuana and advised us they got the wrong hotel room?? We stayed the night after to which there was occasional smells of smoke but not as strong. On checking out we advised the gentleman on reception to whom responded that we weren’t the only ones who had noticed this?? Nobody ever came back to our room that night with an update or tried to at least help/compensate for our tarnish night and no apology offered at reception. I have emailed the company twice and twice been ignored. If you wish to stay in a room and get high off someone else’s supply whilst have stranger knock on your door, this is the place for you.…
Room is big, check in was easy and friendly staff. It is a bit far from downtown (Grand Place), about 30 minutes walk. However, very close to train station to and from airport. There is an ethnic grocery store nearby and a restaurant across the street.
If you’re planning on a weekend trip to Brussels, and are good with small commutes, then this is likely a good choice for you. This hotel is a 5 minute walk away from the North station (which has a direct Metro link to the Central station). The hotel is also a half an hour walk from Grand Place (so good to burn off all those waffles!) The main foyer of the hotel is stunning - A nice open space with a bar, beautiful book cases and seating area with a selection of coffee table books to choose from. I did feel like more could be done to promote this area for guests to utilise. The reception we received upon arrival was lukewarm at best. We arrived shortly before the 3pm check in time and were asked to wait until our room was ready. We obliged but no-one came to get us when the time came. This would not normally be an issue for me, but then they decided to check in a large group who arrived after, rather than alerting the early arrivals and checking them in first. However, thankfully one staff member realised and pulled another staff member over to check us in. Our hotel room was impressive and larger than we expected (although think this may have been because it was an end room). The comfy bed and large space made us feel at home. My main criticism of the room is the temperature. There did not seem to be any mechanism to change this and it felt like the heating was on a high setting. To alleviate this, I could open a window, but this would then prompt an early wake up call from the building works across the road. With some work (and a more welcoming tone from the staff/air conditioning), it feels like this hotel could be remarkable.…
