After booking and confirming the reservation online for a room at the Hotel George V, I found out that not only does the hotel no longer exist- it is the Hotel Queen Mary at the Rue T'Kint 23 in Brussels- but there were no rooms available. The hotel clerk insisted that we did not book there despite having confirmation online. No one answered the telephone number left at the desk for complaints to the management. Additionally, I spoke with another guests who informed me that they also had booked a room at the Hotel George V and had been turned away. It was only after significant complaints with his booking company that he was given a room at the Hotel Queen Mary. Additionally the condition of the hotel was not deserving of three stars.
Not only did they not have a room for a confirmed and paid for booking but the owner did not apologize and said it was my problem and I would have to walk the streets to find another one. Please be very careful they actually have rooms.
This hotel is cheap for an hotel in the middle of Brussels and walking distance from Brussels stock exchange (Bourse). But that's it! The room is small. The wifi basically does not work. I could not connect to my floor access point. I could access to another floor but it kept disconnecting every few minutes and when you habve a connection it is very very slow. The TV is an old big/heavy kind only about 12" wide. The towels in the bathroom are so-so. There is no tooth brush, nothing but a soap. You can hear the neighbors. The breakfast is OK for the price... But if the price is your driving factor for the location, it's OK
The receptionist was extremely impolite. The first credit card can't go through the payment, has been just thrown back to me impolite on the table. I use second credit card for the payment, then only gone through.
Although fitted with old furniture, my room was very spacious and the cleaning spotless - they even folded my non-work clothes! Rock solid internet, as well, which came as a pleasant surprise, since in Brussels at this price range it is typically extremely patchy. I was most impressed with the service though: using their old iron i managed to blow the fuse on my floor twice. However, returning from work that evening, a brand new iron was deposited at my door. Only drawback: Quite grim breakfast. There is a passable bistro 50 meters from the hotel though.
Great location for sightseeing. Room quite small (we got the attic room). It could be more carefully cleaned, especially in the corners of the rooms there was dust, but all in all it was OK. There was a wierd smell in the whole hotel, but simillar smell was in the neighbourhood. Very nice staff.
It was what it was. Good location, 10 minute walk from the city centre but fealt more like a hostel that a hotel. Hasnt been updated since 90s. Box tv, old bed no douvet just a sheet and tiny pillow each. Dont stay on the fourth floor as it is very tiny.
whoever rated this hotel must have been bribed. the room I stayed smelled awful, the toilet sink was leaking, I complained then it got fixed the next day only to be leaking again the following day. I gave up. The toilet bowl is stained, the shower cubicle is the tightest/smallest I've ever seen!!!. the old man at the reception never smiles and quite rude. I asked on my arrival about breakfast and he recommended me to eat outside instead because it's "cheaper" than in the hotel.
I experienced a room with a pleasant services but not only it was not clean enough, but also the location was not clear enough and no one in sorround streets heard about it. I dont advise anyone this hotel even for one night.
This is perfect for a couple of nights in the centre of Brussels. You're five minutes walk from the centre of town on a quiet street. Lot of bad reviews from people looking for somewhere more glitzy but this has friendly staff, free breakfast, a bed, an ensuite bathroom and locks on the doors. We had a room next to the reception so we didn't even feel like we were in a hotel, it was as if we lived in Brussels for a couple of nights!
