We were attending a wedding in Antwerp, and Hotel Julien was on the list of recommendations from the wedding couple. We were very pleased that we chose this delightful and charming hotel for our 3 nights in town. The exterior is quite understated - it's almost difficult to find the first time you visit, but the exterior belies the elegance of the interior. This is a very old building which has been masterfully restored, and it is magnificent, with large doors, marble and glass, and 2 small interior courtyards. We chose a Julien Experience Suite with Breakfast Included, and we were completely satisfied with our space. European hotel rooms tend to be on the small side, and that's why I chose the suite, which gave us a bedroom with a King bed and a TV, and a large, airy living room with fireplace, sofa, desk and TV and ample space. The modern bathroom had a rainfall shower and a separate freestanding tub, and Catherine loved the heated marble floor. There was plenty of closet space, also. The ground floor offers a lounge room and an intimate bar, as well as the breakfast room. Breakfast was an excellent buffet, with cooked eggs available at no additional charge. The buffet offered fresh cut fruit, cold cuts, smoked salmon, cheeses, yogurt, breads and baked items, as well as cereals, and we felt as if we had many choices. The staff were pleasant and efficient, and the room is open and full of light. We had an issue with our transportation company when we were leaving (not the hotel's fault) and the woman working the front desk did an amazing job of getting the problem solved for us in record time, with a great result for us. She deserves a special shout-out for gettng us to the airport on time! One note: the elevator wasn't working when we visited, which was no big deal for us, but it could be an issue for a person with a disability, so make sure it's working before you visit if you have an issue. This is a wonderful hotel and we will absolutely stay here again the next time we visit Antwerp!…
Beautifully designed hotel in the heart of the city. Worst check-in experience ever: left waiting while some other clients, not liking their room, decided whether to stick to their room or take ours and the receptionist explaining in French (that I speak, unknowingly to her) that our room was not that good. And actually she was right. Our ‘deluxe’ room was on the third floor with no elevator, in a fully booked hotel. No warning whatsoever in the days before from the hotel. If either of us had a walking impairment of any sort we couldn’t possibly have accessed the room. So brace yourself for a serious stairs climbing after paying more than €350 for your room.
the building itself is very nice, lots of marble and good furniture. The central patio area lets natural light into most of the building which makes the entire place seem fresh. The room we stayed in was small but well equipped. Decent bed, nice big windows, good bathroom facilities. It’s very central but on a side road so not loud at night or congested in the day when arriving/leaving. Breakfast is alright but not enough options for vegans. That’s the only minute detraction. I would recommend and stay again.
We booked for a family reunion 2 nights October 9-11. We booked months in advance. A week before our stay they say they cannot accommodate us because they are closing for maintenance on the Sunday we were supposed to stay. Not good. First time I have ever left a complaint on trip advisor but if I knew this was an unreliable hotel I would have booked elsewhere. Stay away
I hate this place. I tried my best to come to a landing but the staff were intransigent and unfeeling about the difficulties of travelling between London and Brussels. I felt I was being punished for Brexit.
Though a lovely property and conveniently located, we were very disappointed by the hotel's lack of responsiveness to a series of unfortunate events. We had booked for a birthday and came with high expectations, but were informed the morning of our arrival the Spa was being repainted and therefore closed, and we had to wait until 4PM for our room to be ready (even though the hotel was only at about 20-30% occupancy that day). The only compensation the staff was willing to offer was... a drink at the bar! Given the high-end prices, we expected more. Suggestion: if you're looking for a boutique hotel in Antwerp, consider AUGUST and if you love JULIEN's area but want something slightly bigger but at a great rate, visit the beautiful HILTON OLD TOWN.
I called in for drinks at the rooftop of this charming boutique hotel. Staff were very welcoming & helpful & the trendy design throughout the hotel really appealling, I would definitely consider staying if we returned. The Rooftop Bar is a magnificent little gem, hidden away behind the buzz to enter door of The Julien, then up in the lift. It is small & funky & the views awesome. Drinks are reasonably priced.
We booked a room for the second time at Hotel Julien and once again it has been a great experience. Very helpful staff, beautiful lounge/bar. I would definitely recommend starting your stay with a drink. We enjoyed the comfortable spacious room. Breakfast was served at the table and included a wide range of choices. Did I mention the fine art that can be found throughout the hotel? We will be back.
Had a wonderful afternoon tea. My friend treated me to an wonderful afternoon tea here for my birthday. The ambience was calming and intimate, the staff were extremely amiable and the presentation of the tea offering was perfect. Moreover, there was an abundance of food and tea. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a break from sight seeing and a chance to unwind in chic surroundings. Plenty of photo opportunities also!
Very beautiful hotel, very stylish and very friendly staff! the location is perfect and the roof terrace provides the best view on the cathedral! I could not reccomend this hotel enough! definetely coming back!
