This hotel's location is excellent: just next to the Cathedral and around the corner of the historic Market Square and imposing City Hall. The rooms are functional and more than adequate. Rooms to the front have a little more historic feel to them but can be a little more noisy due to the neighboring cafés; however, the cathedral walls can be seen from these rooms. The back rooms are quiet but also more modern in their interior design. The stairs are steep with narrow steps as they commonly are in old historic buildings in Europe, and this could be difficult for people with reduced mobility especially for rooms in the front of the building. The hotel offers a really nice breakfast buffet. The staff is very helpful and friendly with good English language knowledge. This is my third stay in the Hotel Postiljon and I have not been disappointed.…
Only about three doors down from one of Antwerpen's best bier bars, 't Paters Vaetje. Despite the proximity to other bars & tourist attractions, never hear a thing at night. The beer might have helped. My second visit to this hotel. Friendly staff (not certain about the HUGE dog) - 24 hours access is handy. Stairs are very steep, but I can live with that.
A group of friends stayed here to celebrate a 70th birthday in Antwerp. Thehotel was very convenient for Bars and Restaurants being next to the cathedral but the entrance and rooms whilst just what we wanted were a bit tired. Also the stairs had narrow treads which made them a little steep especially for anyone with aging joint (knees or hips or both) issues. The bars close by had customers well past midnight making a bit noisy as the sound bounced off the cathedral wall, but an extra Gin or an Extra DeKonnink made the noise easy to ignore. All in all it was an enjoyable stay in a fine city.
We found the rooms to be simple but functional. As others have said, the bar next door is noisy and continues to late in the night. As it was very hot when we stayed but there was no air conditioning we had to keep the windows open which made the noise worse. I imagine rooms at the back of the hotel would have been better. The breakfast was simple but great. The staff were lovely. The WiFi was great. The bathroom in our room didn’t have a door, so if you like privacy you’d be better to get a room with shared bathroom, although that seems counterintuitive.
We booked a double room and we didn't have a toilet and shower in the room. The shower and toilet weren't very clean but as we stayed for one night only, we were ok with it. The main issue were the noise at night and the bed itself. The mattress wasn't of good quality and it was very old. The noise kept us awake almost all night. We heard the guests of a pub that was next door and the hotel guests who were very loud. The walls are thin and you can hear everything. It was annoying. The staff on the other hand is friendly and polite. Breakfast was good.
