Hilton should seek efficient methods for checking in guests. Arrived before 3pm (room availability time) but was advised room was not available and to explore the city and arrive back at 4:30 as they expected many guests on the day. Arrived back at 5pm and the queue was almost outside the hotel. 2 priority queues and 1 non-priority. Too much pampering by check-in staff leading to an average 7 min check-in per person Expensive minibar - only took 50cl water in the evening at a rate of 4.50 and pringles which I thought were complimentary as the appeared on top of the shelves , unknown to be sat on a sensor - at a rate of 7.00;. Observed a comment back in 2016 about the same issue in-which management stated they would remove the confusion - obviously works in the hotel's favor. Room service for breakfast was 8 euros per person . All of these charges are petty. I paid a high rate for a junior suite so I was prepared to spend. Should embed charges in the room rate and stop charging 11,50 for 2 items that would cost 2,60 in supermarket next door. The junior suite is not impressive and quite different from the photographs shown online. The decor is stuck in the 70s with mustard walls and curtains to match. Very staid and sterile On a positive note the check-in staff are friendly. The bathroom was unlike the rest of the suite. Its a place that does not have to try too hard as its probably the only hotel of its size in the Old town

Hotel's Favorite
I must say that I was a bit sceptic about how good this hotel would be due to its age. But I was pleasantly surprised by the room (we had a Double Kind Executive room) and the staff/service. The room hadn't been renovated (though the beds in our room were on the newer side), but the bathroom still had a good feel to it and was kept very clean. The room itself was very spacious and perfect for a family. The staff were a big contributor to our pleasant stay. Eve at the restaurant who helped us with breakfast every day and Robin at the front desk were incredible. The location is also a perfect one. You can walk around the Old Town and have access to restaurants, cafes, shopping, etc. and you are also within walking distance to the tram station to go elsewhere. Thank you to the entire Hilton team that helped us have a great experience!

When booking 10 days earlier directly thru the hotel (only time we managed to get thru their phone line) we were told we would get a nice room with view on a high floor… This made us choose this hotel among others in Antwerp. When we got their and had trouble parking, we tried calling the hotel to get some help… they never answered. We finally get their and discover our room: 4th floor (great news) but facing a building under reconstruction (the KBC) only 3 or 4 meters away… totally cutting the light; HORRIBLE and exactly the opposite of what we had asked for… They didn’t tell us until we discovered the room = the farthest we could find in the building. Hotel is definitely miss run, communication is very weak: they FORGOT to tell us room wouldn’t be cleaned « due to Covid they said »… Reception never answers and has difficulties in apologizing for its weaknesses. On top, elevators run poorly and rugs in the hallways are totally wrecked (see pictures). My recommendation: reset everything except restaurant staff (eg. Serge) who are very good, especially during this heavy season.

I stayed at this property for 2 nights back in Oct 2021 - yes slightly late with the review. Do take note that this was during the period when the Covid lockdown situation was improved and therefore rules were not as tight as before. This is also my first stay at this property. I had booked this propertyalready when Hilton was still having their flexible booking condition for all their rates (compared to currently back to usual restritive rate - althogh the virus mutation seems to be still happily flying around) Location This property is located at a central location, Groeneplaats, where there's lots of connection to the tram and underground lines connecting to the main trainstation. Walking distances to the different museums/churches/attractions and main shopping street are within 10-15 mins. For those coming by train, walking from the station will most probably take about 20-30 mins - but walking with a bag even with wheels will not be the most pleasant due to the cobbled streets. Just outside and next to the hotel is a big shopping centre and lots of food and beverage outlets. Check In As usual digital check-in was available, however in current times, this is useless as you still need to pass by the front desk to show proof of ID/filling in covid related documents. On the day itself, I already saw via the app that I was upgraded to a Junior Suite, which was very much welcomed. I arrived just slightly after 1700 hours at the property and the front desk was lightly occupied, wait was ok, being helped within 5 mins upon arrival. As usual I was given a run down of the facilities - which included a make-shift lounge in the restaurant area as the Executive lounge itself was still closed. Room The room was located at the other side of the building on the 5th floor, so walking from the main lift to the room did take a few mins and passing the (closed) Executive Lounge. As expected the room size was on the larger side with a clear division between the entrance hall, sleeping area and the sitting area. There was no walls/partition, which to me was not an issue. Furnishing and deco of the room was dated, maybe from the 90's, although still functional. There were some added electrical outlets include some USB outlets for use. There was what seem to be a good direction, the usual coffee/tea making facilities including a good coffee cup making machine (not Nespresso, but some other brand which was also good). The climate control in the room was functional and did manage to keep the temperature in the room constant at the desired temperature. Based on the TV in the room (which seems to have been modernized, I doubt that there is any plan to further refurbish the room in the short term). Internet speed was sufficient and stable. Bathroom size was good with a bathtub and walk in shower. The only posisble issue here would be the walk-in shower - it was on a smaller side, so most probably a person of size might have difficulty as it was tight on all direction and with a fixed shower head. It did take some time for the water to get heated up, but when it was, the temperature and pressure was sufficient. Other than that, all other amenities in the room was what you would expect. View from the room was not the most spectacular, but that was fine. Make Shift Executive Lounge The temporarily lounge that was set up in the hotel's main restaurant in a roped off area - was in my opinion very well done - seems like they tried to copy the concept from the Hilton The Hague property - even from food options. The lounge was open only every day from 1700-2000 hours (if I remember correctly). There was always 2 hot finger food options (like at Hilton The Hague) - fried prawns and chicken teriyaki skewers. On the 2nd day, they had fried finger bite spring rolls and the fried prawns. Drinks option was the usual soft drinks, 1 white, 1 red and 1 sparkling wine and beers. The stronger drinks were in miniture bottles - with a limited assortment. On my 1st day, there was no check on eligible guests, but on the 2nd day, I guess because it was a weekend and more guests using it, there was a check on eligibility. Refilling of both food and drinks were ok - at times it did take a bit longer as the attendants were the same associates taking care of the restaurant operations. A funny incident happend on the 1st day - there were some restaurant guest sitting at the outside terrace and one of the guy was daring and after they replenished the beers in the ice bucket, he just walked in from outside and grabbed 4 bottles of it for his own consumption - this was caught by one of the associate in time. Breakfast The breakfast is was at the hotel's main restaurant. During my visit, it seems that breakfast was back to what you would expect, an open buffett with the possibility of havin to-order eggs. The variation and quality of breakfast was good and dishes were refilled timely. There was more than suficient sitting even during the busy hours. Overall All in all, despite this being quite a dated property, the service level was good and for me seeing how the hotel is taking the effort to restore service to the usual level. I was also happy with the treatment of HHonors elite guests. It is a pity that the usual Executive Lounge is not yet open as it did have a good view especially the open area - which would have been a nice place to relax during my visit where temperatures were still warm. I guess this will be saved for the next time when visiting the property again. With that said, I would certainly return to this property.
