Hotel Des Indes in The Hague garners praise for its prime location, which guests find perfect for city exploration yet serene and steeped in history. The hotel's classic elegance and grandeur, along with its comfortable and spacious rooms, are consistently lauded, although some visitors mention dim room lighting. While the service is generally applauded for excellence, a few guests encountered less attentive care during breakfast. Cleanliness is a strong suit, with travelers appreciating the spotless environment. However, concerns are raised about value, with some guests facing unexpected charges.

Last week we spent a wonderful evening and night in the heart of the Hague. The hotel location is perfect because everything is within walking distance: the Mauritshuis, Historical Museum, Bredius and Escher museums, the Central Station and all the shops in Denneweg and central The Hague.
The hotel radiates the grandeur of the Belle Epoque with its pluche chairs, warm colours and soft lighting. Everything makes you feel like a valued guest.
There is a small but attractive spa with a pool, gym, steam bath and sauna. People are very friendly and keen to be of service.
Breakfast is sumptuous and delicious, but most of all we were impressed with the highly refined cuisine at dinner in the beautiful dining room. We tasted many small dishes, prepared with great care and imagination. We had lobster and oysters as starters and Sea Bass and Tournedos Rossini as main courses - all exquisitely cooked and presented. The panna cotta dessert was heavenly.
Their High Tea in the domed central lounge is renowned.
The bed was comfortable and the bedroom and bathroom were five-star. We immensely enjoyed our stay at this famous grand hotel.

it is majestic; right in the heart of The Hague; I would have expected much higher prices for a hotel of this type; we got away with just under 200 € /night, including breakfast, city tax and all; our room was spacious, with all conveniences (lots of TV channels, Dutch and foreign, coffee and tea facility). We found it over the top when a chamber boy (ie a male chambermaid) came in around 5 pm to prepare the room for the night (!); on the negative, the bathroom didn't seem to have any ventilation, so after a shower the cabin gets sort of damp...Breakfast, at 20 EUR pp is great and very special; RECOMMENDED (for a special occasion)

Des Indes has an impressive interior design overall. The room was spacious, clean and attention was paid to detail. Kind staff. The hotel's car parking is conveniently situated across the street opposite to the main entrance.
To improve: At booking stage, clear information should be provided about where the room is situated, i.e. at the front, back, or at the side of the hotel, as the views are very different.

Pros: The historic building is very beautiful, gorgeous and luxurious. It is a great experience to stay here. Staff were very kind and helpful, making our stay very pleasant.

Cons: The first room we entered stank. So we asked the hotel to change the room. The second room was OK but the heater was broken, blowing cold air in winter. We again asked the hotel to fix the heater or change the room but they were reluctant to admit the heater was broken and therefore to change the room. The duty manager even asked me if the room temperature of 22 degrees was warm enough. Unbelievable!! I did not want to sleep in the room with the heater blowing cold air in winter. Finally, they agreed to changed the room but it took a few hours for us to settle down since their response was so slow.
I also thought that the hotel cuts corners--no additional toilet rolls, no supplement of amenities except for soaps, etc. I also felt disappointed with these small points. No real luxury.

Amazingly there was no toilet paper in the room.

Breakfast is very limited, quality of breakfast is basic and personnel in the breakfast lounge not very customer oriented.

Parking in front of the hotel is ridiculously expensive and the cost are not mentioned up front, in spite of asking about parking with the hotel reservation.

Staff at the front desk had no time to check us in and this process had to be done at the concierge desk. (Hotel was far from full - strange)

The hotel is in short at the moment not at all close to the class of hotel they think they belong in.

The hotel is a lovely old style luxury hotel in a very central location in the Hague. We traveled on a special package deal which gave us a room upgrade, two welcome drinks and boxed breakfast. The hotel only had a few visitors which made it all the more amazing that the receptionist gave us a small room on the top floor without a view (the other side of the hotel has a lovely view over the Vijverberg) . The room had a kind of porthole windows that made the room very dark and unappealing. It looked like it was the maids room. The television did not work and when they sent somebody up to check it, we were told that these rooms regularly had problems with the tv reception, so why give us a room like that? We changed over to another room that was slightly better, still small but at least it wasn't as dark. One would think that with such a minimal number of rooms booked, it would be easy and gracious to give guests a better room especially since all drinks and meals have to be taken in the rooms because of the Covid situation so you want your guests to have a pleasant in-room experience and encourage them to come back. On the upside, the wait staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast was copious and good.

We stayed 6 nights here. The location is perfect for exploring the city, close to restaurants, shops, museums and other sites. The hotel is very traditional in ambiance, service, and decor. The room (juniour suite) was very large with big windows, a comfortable bed and nice linens. The only downside of the room is the lighting is somewhat dim, especially in the bathroom which is painted in dark colors. We had drinks and ate in the bar a couple times. Offerings are limited but good. Service in the bar was terrific. We used the laundry service which was great because laundry is done the same day. Massage by Seiko was excellent. Sevice was exceptional. In particular concieges Mr. Gert and Ms. Stefanie, and Mr. Kennedy at the front door were all so helpful! Can't wait to return. And Mr. Kennedy, we hope your days continue to be EXCELLENT!!!

Located in the middle of the city centre, the hotel is furnished as a real Grand Hotel. You feel history as soon as you enter the lobby. The service and porter service is excellent. I find it a little awkward that you have to pay €40,- to park a car with room rates as they charge. The rooms are clean and spacious. If you like the decoration, is all a matter of taste. The breakfast was good but not excellent.

I rated the hotel 4 stars because in Corona times is was not able to use all the facilities they normally offer. The hotel tries everything to make their guests feel welcome but with lots of thing closed it’s hard to judge how good the hotel really is.

Booked a room with breakfast and added dinner in the restaurant. Great location in the center of The Hague, and the package we booked included valet parking, which was great. All staff were attentive, friendly and professional. The room was ready upon our (somewhat early) arrival and looked great. Very stately. After a stroll through the city and a light lunch, we prepared for dinner in the restaurant of des Indes. Before that, we enjoyed a drink in the beautiful lounge. We then had the four course chefs choice menu, and all dishes were great!! I especially loved the black truffle risotto, and the entrecôte was cooked to perfection. The accompanying wines were great as well. The service at the restaurant was top notch, not too long between dishes, and not too short either, everything at a good pace and we had a very friendly and professional young man who seemed proud to be working where he was, and rightfully so! All in all, great place! Would definitely recommend saving up for an experience like this.

Booked in for an overnight stay. Had a good deal via third party app. Saved 100€ against going with Hotel. There is parking in front of hotel but costs 40€ per night.
We booked in for an evening meal at their restaurant, some what disappointed. The service was slow and the food was mediocre. Presented really well but very little flavour. Try the resto around corner, as you walk out of hotel turn left and left again. There in the road 1st on the right. We tried to get table but was fully booked; They have set menus so need to check in advance what that menu is.
As for the hotel itself, it is old and run down. The rooms was big and the shower was excellent. But overall the hotel needs a big renovation and does not quite live up to the Leading Hotels of the World.
I cannot recommend the hotel to anyone who has experienced other LHW, you will be disappointed. Itcould be a great hotel, but needs a big acash injection.
ITs has a greate locatuon in relatuon to shops, beach ( 15mins by ebike ).
Worth renting bikes for the day ( 30€ per bike per day ). Great way to get around and see things

There's limited parking on premises, but there's several large underground multistory parking facilities nearby; I parked my car at the Plein garage, at about five minutes walking distance from the hotel!
