The hotel is a lovely old style luxury hotel in a very central location in the Hague. We traveled on a special package deal which gave us a room upgrade, two welcome drinks and boxed breakfast. The hotel only had a few visitors which made it all the more amazing that the receptionist gave us a small room on the top floor without a view (the other side of the hotel has a lovely view over the Vijverberg) . The room had a kind of porthole windows that made the room very dark and unappealing. It looked like it was the maids room. The television did not work and when they sent somebody up to check it, we were told that these rooms regularly had problems with the tv reception, so why give us a room like that? We changed over to another room that was slightly better, still small but at least it wasn't as dark. One would think that with such a minimal number of rooms booked, it would be easy and gracious to give guests a better room especially since all drinks and meals have to be taken in the rooms because of the Covid situation so you want your guests to have a pleasant in-room experience and encourage them to come back. On the upside, the wait staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast was copious and good.

In just one word: IMPRESSIVE We had two fantastic days at Des Indes & The Hague. The hotel is perfectly situated to discover the city by feet. Despite of the closed bar's and restaurants due the Corona, there where enough spots to take away drinks or tasty meals. Private shopping at the Denneweg needs to be recommended for the real shopaholics among us.

This was a welcome return to the Hotel des Indes. Little hiccup at the beginning as we were given a room with only a shower though it shows on line the deluxe rooms have baths but they changed it no problem. The new room was slightly smaller but we didn't mind at all. The staff were friendly. The set dinner menu was delicious and our waiter very nice. Breakfast was served to us...no buffet at the moment...with the best scrambled eggs I've had in a long time. We stayed recently i.e in Covid times at the Prinsenhof in Groningen where there was a free mini bar with a small, but most welcome, selection. Maybe something they could do here. I asked for more coffee pods but none were forthcoming. Hence 4 not 5 stars. In these times these little extras make all the difference.

This very nice building is one of the first things you see at the square it's located. We were welcomed by the Doorman. At the reception they told us our room wasn't ready yet. It was supposed to be ready. I left my luggage at the reception and they told me they would bring it up to our room as soon as it was ready. We also could pick up the key at the reception. Would be less than 30 minutes. Had a walk outside for about 1.5 hours. Once we were back at the reception they still had to arrange our room, like they didn't do anything at our arrivel when we sat there for 10 minutes. This time we had to wait again for at least 5 minutes and it seemd like he was looking for a room, still lokking for a room. And typing. And scrolling....So. finally he found us a room. Gave me the card and walked us to the elevator. We got up. Looked for price-quality ratioNo one had seen my luggage. And after 5 minutes they found it. Had to take it up myself. Room was classic. Later that evening we found out the tv wasn't working. The next morning we saw that the sheets were ripped. Several holes. Mirror in bathroom wasn't clean. A lot of dust on several places. And they told me we had to wait because the room was cleaned? I don't believe it. Told this to the lady at the reception when we wanted to check out. She took notes, said she was sorry and that's it. I've had a lot of better stays at B&B's, appartments and hotel for a lot less then what we had to pay here for a night. For me this was a one-timer. Period.

Des Indes has an impressive interior design overall. The room was spacious, clean and attention was paid to detail. Kind staff. The hotel's car parking is conveniently situated across the street opposite to the main entrance. To improve: At booking stage, clear information should be provided about where the room is situated, i.e. at the front, back, or at the side of the hotel, as the views are very different.
