Detailed Reviews
This is a great value hotel right on the Rotterdam waterfront, with an amazing view of the bridge and the harbour traffic. The rooms aren't huge, but they are clean and very comfortable. The hotel also serves an optional superb value dinner with three courses for 9 euros (if I remember correctly). It's not gourmet food, but it's tasty and filling. The hotel is close to tram and water taxi stops, and is close to a supermarket and many bars and restaurants. I would stay here again if I returned to Rotterdam.

The Maritime Hotel (Zeemanshuis) is right on the banks of the River Maas in Central Rotterdam.
If you love ships, this is the place for you. It's comfortable, convenient and inexpensive for the Single traveller. Barges and tugs pass by, all day long. Coasters are quite frequently to be seen. In Summer, there's every chance of a Cruise Liner berthing just opposite too.
It's easy to get to Maritime Hotel. Tram line 7 from the railway station terminates at the hotel. AND the waterbus service to Dordrecht AND the famous "SPIDO" harbour cruises sail from the quay outside the hotel. The Maritime Museum at Leuvehaven is 7 minutes' walk away too.
The Breakfast Room/Restaurant and the Bar are adorned with Ship Models in glass cases - and there are wall-to-wall Ship Photographs of the Dutch Merchant Fleet.
I love this hotel. I've stayed here 5 times in the last 10 years. If Ships are your passion, give this place your consideration!

The Hotel is great value for the location which is fantastic. I have stayed there twice on gentlemen only trips and have booked again for a family trip. One of the best value hotels I have ever stayed in from food to rooms. I only hope not too many people discover it.

On the positive side, the staff were pleasant and the location was reasonable. However the rooms, and in particular, the beds were awful. In the first room [330] we had to put a chair on top of the wardrobe to create space for our 2 small pieces of luggage. The beds, which looked pretty cheap, sagged on the worn box spring mattresses. When we mentioned this, the lady at the reception said all the beds were like that. Indeed that proved to be the case. We were moved - finally to another room and the beds were no better. You would need to be pretty desperate to stay at this place. The worst hotel we have been in.

Stayed July 2012 for North Sea Jazz Festival. Location excellent, tram from Centraal stops right outside, and Leuvehaven metro station is 3 min walk. Reception, restaurant and bar staff all helpful, friendly and professional, and spoke good english. Once I worked out the 3-lifts system (ask which lift is nearest your room, then follow the red or blue dots on the floor - not all lifts access all rooms) the layout made sense! Room (335, a single) was fine, not beautiful but clean and functional with comfortable bed, ok bathroom with easily regulated shower, and TV with a couple of english channels (CNN, BBC1, BBC World). No kettle etc or safe, but lockers can be accessed at reception. Breakfast was a good buffet, in the typical Dutch style. WiFi and computer terminals available.
This is a perfect choice for those attending events at Ahoy with good transport links and all you need for an enjoyable stay at reasonable rates.

+1

The Maritime won’t win any awards for amenities, but I stayed here for a night and was very satisfied. The room was small and very basic. A twin bed (with surprisingly comfortable pillow/comforter), a tiny desk, and a small flat-screen TV. There was a nice sized closet with built in shelving. The bathroom was bare bones, with a shower only, but it was clean and quite serviceable. The room had a window that opened and a fantastic view of the Erasmus Bridge. If you’re not going to spend a lot of time in the room, it’s perfectly fine. Definitely on the small side, but clean and well maintained.
The desk staff was friendly and helpful. There was one elevator that was slow, but worked fine. The wireless Internet performed flawlessly at all times. Finally, a budget priced European hotel that gets it right. Breakfast was included in the price of admission and it was fine, although nothing spectacular. A lot of bread, and a smattering of other offerings. For free, there’s no complaining, but it’s nothing to get excited about. The restaurant also serves food throughout the day. I didn't try anything besides breakfast, but it's a nice feature as there do not seem to be many restaurants in the immediate area. That said, it's right on the waterfront, with unobstructed views. Fabulous!
The location is hard to beat. The #7 tram to/from Centraal Station stops right out front, and there is a metro subway stop about a block away. The hotel overlooks the water and is reasonably close walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and the like. Nothing fancy about the experience, but it’s clean and much nicer than I expected based on reviews here. Given the low price, the fantastic location, and the cleanliness of the room, I was a happy camper for a night. Recommend!

This is an excellent hotel, very clean, very comfortable with a lovely view of the bridge and river and easy access to the Spido boat trips. There are some restaurants nearby too! However, it is not as near to the city centre as i thought it would be and it would be about 15mins walk before you get to the centre.

The hotel is located in the city centre, on the waterfront. The room was clean, but I didn't have a nice view. (Ask for a room facing the river). Breakfast was excellent, buffet with cold cuts, good coffee, selection of cereals and very good croissants. Good price, I recommend it.

Maybe if we would have had a room with a view the grade would me bigger, but it s imposible for all to have rooms with a view. Good organising and a good view when you go out, a chic bar is available and you are 20 minutes away from the centre, on foot. I like to experiment with hotels and i would probably chose another if to go again to Rotterdam, but this one is quite good for the money.
