You have to be aware that you have booked a ship - and if it wasn't more expensive than other city hotels, you have booked an inside cabin. There are long corridors and everything is decorated in a maritime style - in the style of the 1950s, or rather the decorations are from much earlier eras. You have to like that.
The ship is definitely worth taking the time for a guided tour (you can do it without an overnight stay). It's actually too bad to use it as a mere "flophouse" for a business trip.
The room was spacious and well equipped. The water in the shower stayed evenly warm. The bathroom was a successful combination: a sink like in the 1950s, but a single-lever mixer and shower with an electronic mixer tap. I also thought the solution with the swiveling towel rails was a good idea.
The vacuuming could be done more thoroughly and regularly (elevators).
I would like to highlight the staff in the restaurant and bar. They were attentive without being intrusive and I felt seen as a no longer young solo traveler - unfortunately that is not a given.

The SS Rotterdam beautifully exudes the atmosphere of the 50s and 60s and offers comfortable rooms. Unfortunately, the service and kitchen left something to be desired. The service does its best, but the turnaround is not smooth; waiting 45 minutes for an order is really too long and negatively affects the experience. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at Lido Grill unfortunately did not convince us, which is a shame for such a special location. Westcord Hotels, there is room for improvement, because this gem deserves better.

We can only review our room, which was a spacious outside cabin on the port side with great views of the skyline. It was fine, clean, with a good bed and quite a few historic interior elements. We enjoyed the atmosphere in this special hotel, which is also an important Rotterdam maritime heritage: both the ship and the interior, a real 'Gesamtkunstwerk'. The hotel staff and volunteers are friendly and hospitable. We really appreciated the detailed stories about the ship, shipping and the city. A fine example of 'oral history'! Be sure to book a tour, but the audio tour is also worthwhile. We did not do the escape rooms. From the ship you look out over the renovated Katendrecht, the Maashaven and the other side (North). The water taxi has a stop on the SS Rotterdam itself and that of the foot/bicycle ferry to Charloisse Hoofd (only during rush hour) is next to it. We skipped breakfast because we thought it was too pricey. We did enjoy a tasty, pleasant and reasonably priced dinner. If a huge cruise ship passes by during dinner (no matter how environmentally harmful it may be...) it is a special encore.

We will be guests for two nights.
Nice and very unusual location. It is already an experience and also very well staged and prepared.

Just outside Rotterdam center. By water taxi it is a few minutes to the center (5€ per trip / person), walk about 45 min.. restaurants are about 15 minutes walk.

The location is special. The rooms very nice. Unfortunately, you can't open the portholes. Air conditioning is available, unfortunately worked less well. There was also some condensation dripping in many places on the ship (from the room to the restaurant, meeting rooms and corridors). Beds were ok but nothing special. Wi-Fi was unfortunately very bad in the room.

Breakfast was good. There is not much choice in total but some of everything. Was also always freshly refilled. Eggs, fried eggs etc. can be ordered fresh as desired.

Staff always friendly and accommodating, there is nothing to complain about.

We stayed at the Lido bar and restaurant in the evening. Very great location with beautiful views of Amsterdam. The food was exceptionally good and the ambience nice.

If you are looking for a hotel of a slightly different kind, this is the right place. From a purely accommodation point of view no highlight but solid. But the location especially. But the distance to the city center should be conscious.

Pretty unique hotel in a nice location. Of course the ship is already quite old, but in the room you don't notice much of it. We had a deluxe room and there was a seating area with chairs and a sofa. Furthermore, lots of closet space and a walk-in closet with dressing table and a stylish look. Nice luxury, then. Of course, low ceilings and the bathroom could be more modern, but what do you want on an old ship? For the money we thought it was a bargain. Nice view, great breakfast and very nice that there is a private water taxi stop. Parking is also perfectly arranged and you have a great location for an extended visit to Rotterdam.

We spent 3 nights on the SS Rotterdam. The ship is conveniently located on a quay near the city. There is a parking lot right in front of it (15 euros per day). There is also a free shuttle bus for guests to the nearest metro station and you can also get there quickly with the 77 bus. There are also 2 water taxi stops right next to the ship. It is a great experience to spend the night on the old cruise ship. The interior has retained the charm of the past well, everything was clean and in good condition. If you want to see more of the ship, you can book a guided tour for a fee. The breakfast buffet had a good selection and was of good quality. There are bars and 2 restaurants on board. We also had a good and delicious dinner at the Lido Grill. A table reservation is definitely advisable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a very nice stay on the ship.

We didn't want to be influenced by the reviews... but after the first of three nights we booked we realized that we can't recommend it. The carpet in the room is in dire need of replacement, the portholes let in light but you can't see outside because of the dirt. Touring the ship is not possible because almost everything is cordoned off. These are just the first "little things" but they are crucial for the price and are more than enough. Now we'll be surprised by the breakfast.

Their high-tea offering was quite exceptional. Champagne starter; small soup; well made sandwiches; lots of sweet delicacies; scones (including clotted cream); and lots of very fine tea. (Coffee was mentioned at the end, but we were finished by that point!). Service was outstanding too, attentive yet not in your face. All in a pleasant restaurant with big windows offering river views even if you're sitting in the middle (as we were).

Whilst this (5-star) review is for the high-tea, it's worth mentioning the rest of the ship. We got there an hour earlier hoping to look around this old ship but that demands paying for a tour. How do they hope to wow people and persuade them to come and eat / stay? Just a simple self-guided tour with signage to a few key areas would be enough.
PS: tbh, the parts of the ship that we did see didn't look very ship-like anymore - rather a glorified hotel (which is what it is). I would have liked greater attention given during the refit to preserving some of the nautical themes.

I stayed on the SS Rotterdam for 4 nights. It was brilliant. The room was spacious but I didn't have a window. There was a large shower/wc ensuite. The food was very good. I ate in the Club Room on my first night then had two nights dining in the Lido Grill. You need to book the restaurants as the can get very busy. On my 4th night I ate in the city centre. It can get very busy at Breakfast time but the breakfasts were extremely good with plenty of choice. There is a shuttle service to the nearest Metro station at Rijnhaven during the day. Nearby is a bus stop where the buses depart to Rijnhaven Metro stop about every 15 minutes during the day. A bit less frequent in the evenings. It's bus No77 and it takes around 10 minutes to get to the station. There is a very good bar called the Captain's Lounge with an excellent selection of drinks. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant. This is definitely a hotel I intend returning to.

The ship is beautiful. The escape room is disappointing (austere) and the food in the Lido grill unfortunately had a sour aftertaste. Despite their promise to quickly refund the excess amount charged (and paid) by them, this has still not happened.

Hello! My bed was actually a single bed, as they are real ship cabins! So I assume they would have two singles in a cabin but yes please email them they are very responsive too! :-)
