Room lovely, bed comfortable, liked extra space with the couch as a seating option. Liked the big windows and brightness of the space during the day. Bathroom big, good for putting up a line to dry washed clothes! Room really quiet and peaceful from the street, and that was during kings day celebrations, and it was vey lively in the streets outside. Great location for visiting Leiden. Coffee maker in room, it a frig would have been nice as well. Nice storage area for clothes etc, but it was really dark in that corner with no lights there. Also some of the lamps/ bedside lighting not working. Breakfast option was unclear; we were told at check in just to,show up if we wanted it, then we’re told in morning they were “ booked up” and we had to go find it outside. Not a huge problem….. but then the next day we said we would be there and the breakfast room was locked while we and the delivery person waited for someone to come. When she did arrive it was all fine, busy traffic issue. So really the issue is that they did not have a staff person on the premises. That would have made various small issues easier to resolve. May be a staff shortage issue that places are still dealing with….…
Really unique room with chic contemporary look with all of the amenities that you’d expect in a fine hotel. Breakfast in the morning was very nice typical Dutch. Nice location to see the city center, shops and the Saturday market is amazing. Bells of of nearby church were lovely.
The rooms at Steenhof are beautifully appointed and some are quite large. The front rooms overlook the charming canal. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located near canals, main shopping and restaurants. Everything is in reasonable walking distance. I have stayed here several times now and it is always perfect.
It was a wonderful experience to check in here after a long flight - the amazing hospitality of the hosts was on display as soon as I entered - even though my room was not ready in the early morning I was given a full breakfast and a place to sit and be comfortable. The hotel is charming, and the room was spacious and great, and the location of the hotel, in the dead center of Leiden, cannot be beat. Without a doubt, this is where I will stay the next time I am in Leiden. The only thing is - if you have any difficulty climbing steps get a room on the ground floor, since the stairs going up are very steep.
The Steehof is perfectly located for a trip to Lieden. A step away is the main canal, part of the university campus and a park. The check in was very welcoming. Our room was spacious, very clean with tea and coffee maker. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with a great shower. This hotel is very much recommended.
In two historical houses in the centre of Leiden there is this amazingly beautiful boutique hotel lead by charming team that does everything to make you feel comfortable and at home. In this era of Corona a delicious meal and breakfast was arranged in corporation with the restaurant In the Doofpot and Ann& Max. We will be back with Christmas with our children. Jeroen and Renee
Stayed there for a week and have to say that I really liked the hotel and the room. There’s nothing I have to complain, it was a very luxurious suite. The staff was always nice and helpful, it’s centrally situated and you can walk to the inner city or take the bus which departed every 5min right outside the hotel.
Exceptional experience on all levels. 1. Accommodating staff and noteworthy hospitality. The hostess was very accommodating when she found out we had a lot of luggage. She adjusted our stay to a lower level. We were so grateful for this accommodation. NOTE: there are no lifts. 2. Room accommodations are superior. The pictures do speak for themselves. Very roomy. 3. The location to the canal shops and dining locations is perfect. NOTE: Parking is limited around the hotel. 4. Breakfast. We would highly recommend the breakfast. The best we've had in the Netherlands to date. We are in the Netherlands at least 3 times a year and we will make the Steenhof our go to accommodation from now on. Thank you to all the staff for such a wonderful experience.
A great little boutique hotel in two old buildings. Very kind and helpful staff. The room was impeccably clean and comfortable. Huge tv and good shower. I was lucky to get a room just below the roof so had a view from above to the canal and park on other side. Be warned, there are stairs (some steep) to most rooms so let them know before if you need a room at ground level. I didn’t have the breakfast as there are so many lovely cafes close by.
Just finished a four-night stay while attending a scientific conference. I really cannot say enough good things about this place. Everything from start to finish was exceptional. The location is a combination of historic canal houses that the owners have creatively preserved while providing beautiful modernisation. I felt like a “local” each time I stepped out onto the street and walked along the quiet and beautiful canal to the many nearby shops and restaurants. Everyone there was incredibly welcoming. Note that with historic preservation if your room / suite is on an upper level you will be climbing levels of beautifully restored but traditional circular wooden stairs - not riding up on a glass-enclosed elevator with piped in music playing. This is part of the ambiance that gives the place it’s historic character but something to keep in mind when reserving. In my case, being in the “senior citizen” category but 1K and moving past 2,000,000 lifetime miles with United I wouldn’t hesitate to book the 2nd floor suite I had again and this would be the first place I book to stay on a return Leiden visit. Just a wonderful place to stay in a beautiful city. That’s it.…
