We stayed at The Roosevelt for 2 nights during our trip to the southwest of the Netherlands. We arrived by train and it was a short walk (with luggage) to the hotel. We were a bit early so they stored our luggage, but also made the room available the moment it was ready. We stayed in Room 26 on the second story (third floor). There is no elevator and it is a spiral staircase. The room was large with a king size bed, a fridge and a coffee maker. There are windows on two sides and the one to the north had a good view. Breakfast was beyond excellent and included breads, meats, jams, eggs, coffee, juice, etc. Not once were we able to finish everything they laid out for us. The breakfast alone was worth staying here.

For his birthday, we gave our 81-year old artist-neighbour a trip to Middelburg as present, including an overnight stay in your wonderful hotel. After weeks, he is still talking about The Roosevelt, since not only the warm design of the rooms and facilities, but also the gentle and caring staff made a deep impression on him. During the stay, he became so enthusiastic that he even started to provide further design ideas for the hotel, from his background in interior architecture. So The Roosevelt is not only a wonderful hotel, but a source of design inspiration!

Very friendly and accommodating owners and staff, beautiful garden, good breakfast, very inspiring atmosphere in lobby/bar. Comfort Rooms nicely designed but a little too small (what we expected before). Fantastic location, quiet but at the same time close to all relevant spots in Middelburg

Great central location for biking around Zeeland. Spacious suite with balcony, kitchenette and living room. A lot of thoughtful touches. Nice restaurant serving breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is a decent experience if you don’t have a run in with the owner. The rooms are nice but missing some details - for example, no towel hooks. If you don’t want a room on the ground floor make sure you request in advance. Also, we found out on arrival that not all rooms have air conditioning. They offered to bring a unit to the room but then left the extremely heavy unit at the top of the stairs for us to carry down and install ourselves which I found odd. With that said, the breakfast that comes with the room is very nice and of high quality. The staff overall was very friendly and attentive (air conditioning unit scenario aside). However, our close friends had a terrible incident with the owner when their flight was delayed and they arrived late to the hotel. They had called in advance to alert the staff they would arrive late but were left outside in the cold for 40 minutes before the owner arrived to check them in. On his arrival, he yelled at them and berated them for their late arrival. They ended up having to find another hotel in town in the middle of the night. If you look at other negative reviews you can see the owner’s responses are erratic and not fitting for the hospitality business. You may want to consider staying elsewhere. If it hadn’t been for this situation I would have given the hotel a 3-4 star rating.

One night stay before ferry home - an easy drive to Rotterdam. Beautifully located and stylish hotel with great service from friendly staff, and amazing breakfast. We liked the Duplex room with its exposed structure, steep stairs and lower level shower. Hope to stay again.

This was our second visit to the Roosevelt Hotel. A charming spot in historic Middelburg. The hotel is as unique as the city and located next to the church in the center of town. Each room has it’s own personality with extremely comfortable beds and luxurious linens. A surprise and highlight is the breakfast served in the front room of the hotel with live orchids lining the walls. Freshly made pastries, meats, cheeses and fruit are served on a tea tray with little pots of jams. Eggs perfectly cooked to oder alongside freshly squeezed orange juice. The owners are warm and welcoming as is all the staff. We just checked out this morning and are already planning our return.

The location of The Roosevelt is great, just in the middle of the city center. The staff were friendly and the breakfasts delicious! However, the Deluxe Room we had was a bit dusty, the table not cleaned properly and the ventilation of the toilet was not working. We did mention this issue to one of the nice lady staf, however we did not received any feedback afterwards and the ventilation system still not working till the end of our stay.

Lovely hotel, great location. The breakfast was amazing and even catered for gluten free. We would definitely stay again. We stayed in room 6 and our friends in room 3. Room 3 was quite small, with not enough room to get around one side of the bed. Whereas room 6 was very spacious. There are some small winding stairs, which was no problem for us, but if you have mobility issues, you need to mention this. The breakfasts were superb, with a chef, visible from the restaurant cooking the eggs. The staff were always helpful and attentive. We will definitely stay again.

A very pleasant stay in Middelburg! The staff is super friendly, the garden a wonderful place to enjoy a drink, our room was spacious and spotless with very comfortable beds! The breakfast is not to be missed! Delicious bread and viennoiseries with cold cuts and eggs, great selection of hot and cold drinks… a superb way to start the day! Thanks and looking forward to visiting again
