I can't say enough good things about my fantastic experience at the Mary K. But I'll say a few. The location is perfect. Close to everything but far enough to be quiet, and right on the main canal. I stayed in the "Master Bedroom" which is huge, bright, and absolutely gorgeous, with big canal-view windows. After a long day of travelling, I very much appreciated the well-stocked (and reasonably-priced!) mini-bar, especially the delicious local beer. My favorite feature of the room was the raised bathroom with huge soaker tub next to shutters that open out to the room (and the view!). I sipped my beer in the tub while looking out on the canal during the "golden hour" of the evening and was very content indeed. I also loved the electronic blackout shades that could be raised from the bottom to any height at the push of a button. Room darkness, bed comfort and sleep quality were all great, as were the temperature and pressure in the shower... all very important factors to me! But most impressive and appreciated by me was the warmth and friendliness of John, the owner. He let me keep my pack there for the day after checking out, which saved me trekking back to the train station just to store it. We chatted a while and he was incredibly welcoming and funny and genuine, which had definitely not been my experience at a few other hotels in the Netherlands. So it really made an impression. As someone who has stayed in a variety of accommodations all over the world, I highly recommend this hotel as well as Utrecht in general. Sadly I only had one night there this time, but I will definitely correct that next time, when I will absolutely stay at the Mary K again. Thank you John and team!…
Great place to stay to explore Utrecht. Good size rooms, comfy beds and friendly people. Breakfast is great too. We stayed in the appartment down by the Canal with 4 people. We had our own private terrace next to the canal. Beautiful!
Had a wonderful stay at Mary K! Everything was really clean and the room was super beautiful! I called the staff beforehand with a small question about breakfast and they were really sweet and taking their time. Small things made me smile like the chocolate at our towels and the flower with a hand written note (that really made my day). When we left, the guy was so sweet to ask us if we wanted to leave our bags in the hotel so we didn't have tp carry them while walking. Overall, I loved the hotel! Oh and the hotel has it own Netflix account that you can use, was great!
This hotel is an absolute gem, the location is great (right in the centre) and the staff are very friendly. The room itself was beautiful and clean, with a huge terrace (room 6). The only "noise" you hear are the churchbells down the street. We didn't even know there were other guests untill we went down for breakfast. Very solid sound isolation, in other words. Their breakfast options include glutenfree and vegan options, or with my specific food intolerance, a low fructan and fructose option. The only downside is the fact that the bathroom door isn't really a door, but more of a sliding glass door that doesn't cover the entire door opening. Let's just say "sounds" echo a bit in the bathroom.
I loved my stay at the Mary K. Great beds, quiet, perfect location, friendly staff, stylish, eco friendly. Just great. I’ll be back and would recommend to others. Loved the bathroom products. I had a lovely balcony too which must be perfect for the summer.
