Park Plaza Utrecht garners praise for its service, with many guests appreciating the friendly staff and efficient check-in, complete with a warm welcome. Cleanliness is another highlight, with special mention of the bright bathrooms and tidy rooms. The hotel's amenities, including comfortable accommodations and a satisfactory breakfast, are often lauded, though some guests find the variety lacking. While opinions on value and location are mixed, with some concerns over parking costs and the immediate area, the inviting atmosphere and cozy rooms receive commendations.

Spent 2 nights here recently.

The hotel is about 5 minutes walk to the main train station, and about 10 to the historic Utrecht centre so very convenient.

We arrived around 12pm so our room wasn't ready, but we were able to store our luggage whilst we went for a walk into the centre.

When we did come back around 2.30pm our room was ready, and we were delighted to be given a free upgrade to an executive room!

We were in room 317 which overlooked the rail tracks, but we were not bothered by noise during our stay.

Our room was huge and very tastefully decorated with a very comfortable bed. There was a kettle with tea bags, along with a nespresso machine (4 pods provided and topped up daily). There was also a fridge in the room. Plenty of wardrobe space with an iron and safe provided (no charge). A full-sized hairdryer was also provided.

Our bathroom was nice and bright with a large walk-in shower. Hand lotion, wash, shampoo and conditioner were provided along with dressing gowns and slippers.

We chose to have the buffet breakfast on our last morning - for 21 euros each it was actually decent value for the choices we got. Cereals, fruit, cold cuts, fresh breads, pastries and also hot options of bacon, eggs, beans, hash browns, sausages and pancakes. Drinks were self serve with the usual choice of teas, coffees and fruit juices.

Overall we had a fantastic stay and would stay again next time we visit Utrecht.

Very nicely located hotel near the main train station and the city center. (5 min)
You can park your car at the hotel for a small rate of 15-20 euros per day. Parking in the city costs 5-7 euros per hour.
The hotel itself is small but nice, a big lump on the outside and small on the inside. Our room was very nicely furnished with a small bathroom and large shower. The water was not refilled, a shame as a premium customer you expect more.
Very large, comfortable bed, window view of the tracks, you could hear the trains very slightly...but we slept really well.
The breakfast was typically Dutch; sausage, cheese, eggs, everything was perfect and delicious.
From the hotel you could visit the city, through the very well-lit tunnel or around the outside.
Simply great

I stayed in Park plaza - Utrecht for a week and I had an amazing time . It is perfectly located just 5 minutes walk from Utrecht central station and tram station. Also close to all the canals, restaurants and big malls. I had booked a superior twin sharing room. I loved my clean and spacious room, which had all the amenities , and overlooked the parking lot at the Back, so i would say it was not a great view. The bathroom was decently big . It was better than I had expected and my stay was very comfortable. Hotel has a beautiful positive vibe.

To top it all , The detox drink, stroop waffles and apples kept in front of the reception, felt very warm and welcoming. The staff were very efficient, warm and helpful, would go out of their way to help .The breakfast spread was pretty decent, good mixture of hot food and cold cuts. The only thing that was annoying, was that the glasses in the room were not changed frequently in spite of them being dirty with my having had my soups. It is slightly on the expensive side , but good value for money. City tax should be included in the hotel price. Having said that, I will definitely stay here again.

On arrival no parking spaces available on site, had to pay 50€ for 2 nights.

Location near the center was great.
Only a nuisance of homeless people as there is an addiction clinic adjacent to the hotel, which should not be a problem but there was a homeless person washing his socks and feet in the sinks of the hotel toilet. Very dirty and I personally don't think I can.

The room was nice, only the mini bar was empty and only heated ipv cooling. Also it is very musty and stuffy in the room because no window can open. The hallway stank of hemp/weed all weekend.

Breakfast was nothing to criticize, tasty fresh products and lots of variety.

I wouldn't stay in this hotel again even if my life depended on it.
Sure the room was large, and clean, and the bathroom and bed both a generous size.
But who would build a hotel with train lines running at the front and at the back of the hotel.
Our room at the front of the hotel overlooks a building site, a homeless caravan park, overgrown weeds, building materials and a train line.
At the rear of the hotel is the main train station and a mosque which you can hear their chanting whilst in the room.
If you look at the Park Plaza website it has pictures of its location, this is false advertising, as its location is nothing like that - a trading standards issue in my book.
I have posted pictures of its actually location which the hotel should use on their website.
I have never stayed in a worse location in over 45 years of worldwide travel.
Before you book do your own research on the hotels location and the view from the hotel and its rooms.
In addition people hang around the front entrance smoking away, they may be hotel guests rather than vagrants, but why does the hotel support this by placing ashtrays at the entrance doors.
Thank God we are only here for one night.
Room has a fridge, would be nice if it had milk or water in it - we had driven for 7 hours to get here.

Stayed here for late May bank holiday firstly the area surrounding the hotel is not particularly nice lots of groups of males hanging around near by and on the corner of the tunnel by the cycle park
The room was ok we opted to have our room serviced -clean towels had been thrown on the shelf ,shower gel , shampoo and conditioner were not replenished nor was the tea and coffee etc. breakfast buffet was adequate Nothing exciting some item had been standing for a while as the cakes had dried out , sliced tomatoes had dried out a bit there is no cooking station this is more like a Holiday Inn express Buffett. Our room was on the 2nd floor next to the lift, but never any sound in the room the view from the window if you can call it that overlooked the train line and car park again no noise from the trains The room was on the small size. On a plus note we slept very well probably a good 20-30 minutes walk to restaurants and bars

Lovely hotel, close to Utretch Central station and Utretch Centre. The room was comfortable with a shower that worked properly, electric sockets near mirrors for hair dryers. So often overlooked. A really big comfy bed & the best hotel buffet breakfast that catered for all.

There is a lot to commend the Park Plaza Utrecht. We were originally due to stay 18 months ago but due to Covid we had to postpone twice. When we emailed the Park Plaza to do this there was no fuss or issues and our emails were answered promptly and courteously and with much understanding and flexibility which we were very grateful for. The reception staff are welcoming and keen to help and always greet you or wish you a good day when you leave. The location of the hotel is good, a few minutes' walk from the station (a bit trickier a the moment as there is extensive construction work between the hotel and station and a short walk to the city centre. The room was good, we took an upgrade to an executive room at check in and was worth it. The room was large with a view over the station and towards the city. We had no noise issues being so near the tracks. The large bed was comfortable, there was a safe, hairdryer, coffee and tea making facilities, a large bathroom with good shower and sink, a desk, armchair and air conditioning. There was very good (but unsecure) Wi-Fi, a fridge and a huge TV screen with Dutch and international channels, which you can connect your device to if you want to watch from a streaming service. The lifts are reliable, there is a car park with a secure barrier and the COVID protocols are good, they will only enter your room to clean if you request it. There were a couple of downsides to the stay. When we requested housekeeping to make up the room, they did not replace the tea, we asked for more from reception and they brought the wrong type. The check-out app did not work so despite filling out the details online we had to do it again at Reception. The Nespresso machine seemed to be very temperamental and there were no instructions with it. But overall, the Park Plaza was comfortable and very good for our short city break to Utrecht.

It is a nice hotel, offering great desk and breakfast service. The location is very good, however you could hear the trains all day and night. We would definitely expect a better isolation in a hotel located near the Central Train Station. The hotel is stylish, however the cleanliness of the room was average. We had this hotel recommended to us exactly because of the cleanliness, so maybe it was just an unlucky circumstance, where the room has not been refreshed on the day of the check-in or on the day before. Also, the heating was not yet on, therefore it was quite chilly in the room. Good for the great blankets which kept us warm st night. Breakfast was great with lots of choices and great quality products and the young Receptionnist in training did a wonderful job and offered an excellent service. Thank you!

I have mixed feelings about this hotel as some aspects were very good but the way the hotel is being managed during COVID times is poor. Mr H and I had an Executive room which was modern and clean. Coffee and tea was provided but the trays of available teas and coffee had obviously not been replenished in quite a while and there was no milk or creamer which are just basics. The shower was modern and nice with a good rainfall shower head. But again normal amenities like shower cap and vanity kit weren’t present. The rooms were quiet and we both had a great nights sleep as the bed was super comfy. My biggest issue with the hotel however was breakfast. When we checked in we were told we could only have an hour slot (perfectly understandable in COVID times) and only very early or really late 11-12 was left. We selected 11-12 but went down to breakfast a little earlier as we knew the hotel was busy. We arrived to find a bar area with the chef behind and a limited selection available not the usual Park Plaza standard. Mr H and I ordered some pancakes and omelettes with a bowl of fruit salad each and were told to come back up again if we wished and this is where the complete lack of sense or management was evident. Everyone that was on the 11-12 slot descended on the restaurant at 11am and it became so busy with people queueing on top of each other, no distancing and a complete lack of sense to manage the numbers that Mr H and I left early and didn’t get anything else. The queue for the chef was around 20 persons by this stage anyway! We have been to other hotels which keep the buffet stations and have a one way system and sanitising stations and this would have been a far more sensible solution! It felt that it was more a money saving issue than a COVID one! All the negatives would mean that I would not return. The hotel charges €22.50 for parking which is standard for the city. It is located a short walk from the centre and close to the main train station if arriving by train.

Thank you for sharing your review, TravelswithMrH. I am sorry that you were disappointed with the Covid-19 measures we have introduced. All our measures have been introduced with the safety of our guests and team members in mind. We are therefore sorry to read about your experience at breakfast. We have policies in place to ensure social distancing is enforced and to manage queues, and will be working hard to ensure these policies are correctly followed in future. I am also sorry that certain amenities were not provided or replenished, I do hope this was quickly resolved. It is great you enjoyed the room and facilities. I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you again and to surprise you with a breakfast experience you really love in future. Kind regards, Lucy
