Basic room with balcony is large but not a fan of the misted glass bathroom door where you can see someone sitting on the toilet 🤭
Beaware of the conditions when you have a voucher for the 3 course meal ...they give you a different menu like a lunch menu and if you want food that's on the full paid menu you have to pay extra and that can raise the costs above the full price again Sneeky sobs 🤯.
Second night I was there one young waiter wasn't very forth coming with this price costs twist and was a bit rude asking for proof of booking.
My stay generally was ok and he reception staff friendly . I would stay there again a bit wiser! ....shame theres no pool tho but plenty of land to put on in .

We are very satisfied with our stay in Amersfoort:
Excellent reception: you feel welcome
There is no air conditioning in the room, but the fan was on when we entered: very thoughtful!
The decoration is a bit old-fashioned - no problem for us.
It would be nice to have some better light in the bathroom above the mirror, because you really don't see enough there in the morning, but that is the only thing.
We had the junior suite with a nice fridge and a good closet.
A lovely bed and excellent lighting and everything worked (which is not always the case in hotels these days, unfortunately)
This room is a bit larger and therefore a bit more expensive, but for a longer stay - in our case 12 nights - you have more space and comfort.
The restaurant and terrace offer all possibilities.
The people who serve and the people at the counter (entrance) pay full attention to the guests.
We got the feeling that the employees form a good team and enjoy working there.
In short: we would love to come back to you

Stayed for 3 nights, quiet location, free carpark, 80s build and it shows in some places. Staff were mostly welcoming, must give credit to a lady called Lisa who worked the bar and restaurant for two of our nights, she took care of us and was very helpful.

My room was large, double bed was comfortable, decor was sparse and the furniture was not very functional for anyone over 5 foot. Plenty of power sockets but would benefit from some USB ports to charge devices, rooms would also benefit from having an iron & ironing board.

Bathroom was functional but shower water temp wasn’t very hot.

Breakfast was OK but nothing special, restaurant menu is pretty bland too. Overall stay was OK but will try elsewhere when I return to the area.

Old and dirty, from the plumbing, the room, the carpet, the balcony (butts!), the curtains to the scratches on the walls and door. Very poor lighting, my bathroom, shaving and make-up literally had to be done by touch.
The room smelled musty and damp, was terribly hot, even warmer than outside, and it was already 30 degrees there.
NB! There is no air conditioning in the guest rooms. An outdoor unit can be seen, on the roof, probably for meeting rooms. No coffee maker, but kettle. No refrigerator! An ice bucket with contents at our request, thanks to the bar.
The 'dinner' was really substandard. The short rib (chefs' special with shallot and béarnaise sauce) was one large bone with a hunk of beef - lots of sinew - tipped straight from the sous-vide packaging onto a plate, with a scoop of mixed vegetables floating in the cooking liquid next to it. The waiter's response was yes, the chef simply varies. Chef would have liked to give my unvarnished opinion, but he refused to appear at the table.
Sweet treats for dessert: 3 pieces of 2 x 2cm pink wholesale cake with cream in between, 3 of the same brownie, 4 x chocolate 'bonbons' that don't deserve the name. The cappuccino (from the company!) to wash away all this sadness was great!
Breakfast was fine, unlimited coffee/tea, juice, milk. Bread, slices and buns, white and brown, croissant. Butter margarine jam, honey and meat/cheese toppings. Fried bacon and pretty solid scrambled eggs. Yogurt, sliced fruit, granola variations.
Friendly staff, mainly interns, students on o-hours contracts, and also some permanent employees.
The location of the hotel is excellent, quiet, in the middle of the woods (deserving terrace in the backyard) close to Amersfoort and Soesterberg, within 10 minutes by bike to the center.

The hotel is set in a nice location in the country and a 20 minute walk from the train station which was ok for me, even if it was uphill which is weird in NL ! Check-in was weird, for some reason the two people were talking about us in Dutch and laughing at us, nice welcome. There were three of us arriving at 14:30 but our room wouldn’t be ready until 15:00 so the individually stored our bags, which was weird.
My colleagues wanted to use the gym, but despite the fact we were there for almost a week there were no slots…..weird, later found out the hotel had leased the gym to a fitness trainer - why not be honest about it! Rooms have almost no sound deadening, TV didn’t work, no hand soap in the room and piece of foam for a bed wasn’t the best, I guess from that perspective you get what you pay for.
Most of the bar staff and waiter staff were brilliant, great personalities and wanted to do their best for you which was nice. The food was a bit patchy and got the impression they were struggling in the kitchen, no different to many hotels and mostly ok, my group had to reject a couple of steaks, but was dealt with reasonable professionally.
The meeting room was tight and a bit dangerous from the perspective the laptop power points were on the wall and created quite some trip hazard and the overhead projector build had seen better days and made the colours wishy washy.
And now for the downright ugly, now I do get that hotels are struggling to recruit in current climate, but why would you put your worst employee on reception! We had an American VIP join out meeting, he only drinks Coke, as there was no one in the bar area I asked if reception could help. He said he could, promptly brought two bottles of Coke but then told me that I wasn’t “authorised” to put this on my room and I needed to pay cash. I tried to reason with this person that I didn’t have cash on me and as we were spending in the region of 15,000€ with the hotel perhaps he could either add it to the meeting room cost, or food and beverage cost. He told me that he was not prepared to do so! He summoned a colleague from back office and she agreed the only option as I had no cash on me was to leave with the Coke. I was rather upset by this treatment and to my discredit I raised my voice, and despite a colleague was on the phone to potentially another guest and there was a queue behind me, they simply didn’t care and it was more important to them that they didn’t release the Coke with payment !
I left shocked, then entered the kitchen to find the bar staff cleaning dishes as they we short staffed, which I understand, and her comment was “ I don’t know how to charge you for the Coke, but you take it and I’ll figure it out”. Give this lady a promotion and send the clowns on reception to wash the dishes.

Ample parking
Lots of nature around the hotel
Traffic noise is hardly there after 8pm
The restaurant is good. The chef clearly knows her/his trade. Everything was prepared very well. Two little issues. If you prepare a delicious lime sauce don't put a quarter lemon on the plate. The meat was cooked to perfection (blue) but sadly the meat was not as tender as one would hope and expect. And that was due to the quality of the meat not to the preparation
In the restaurant they took their covid measures seriously.

The breakfast was mostly good. The only bad thing about it was the scrambled eggs. They either came out of a bottle or a bag and were not very good. Neither the texture nor the taste.

The room was big enough, the beds comfortable but a bit on the narrow side
The airco worked well and silently but the control dish had disappeared so it was a bit of a struggle to get it to the cold temperature we like.
The room was clean, and was cleaned well after our first night.

A big no no is the door to the bathroom/shower room. It was made of heavily frosted glass. In my opinion there is no earthly reason to do that. Really, I love my wife, but I don't particularly want to see her use the facilities, nor do I want to be seen using the facilities. This is a fad I noticed in more hotels while looking for this one. I don't understand it and I don't like it. From now on it is on our checklist for a hotel room.

In the back there is a lovely terras that is partly covered. A joy to spend time there.

The bar. Limited and some odd things: instead of the campari/soda they have a campari/tonic. When you ask for a margarita they ask if you mean a pizza. I don't expect a bar to have the makings of an old fashioned drink like a margarita. I do expect anyone working in a bar to know what it is.

Room is very old fashioned, there are no sockets next to the bed.
TV cannot be louder than a certain volume and the water from the shower cabin does not run through making it such a swimming pool...
The room has a very uncozy look which looks very different in the picture. Too bad I'm not coming here anymore.

A terrible hotel.
The room was extremely dirty, the shower was calcified, there was mold in the bathroom, chewing gum residue stuck to the furniture. The kettle in the room for coffee or tea was rusty and calcified.
The breakfast was not what you would expect from a 4* hotel, no choice, bad scrambled eggs and dirty plates at the buffet.
The staff put us off several times before they took the initiative.

very friendly staff sometimes make a mistake but that can happen. The food is good, although the portions are not whole
big. also the price is reasonable. the bathroom in the room is good but very small. The room still needs some work, such as better cleaning, better beds and they are just too warm.

Stayed for a few nights with some friends so we used it as a base to travel around the Netherlands. Excellent location, close to the motorways to reach different areas. Also close to the city centre, Amersfoort is a beautiful place and full of nice restaurants and bars.
Check in was fine, our rooms were fine although one slight thing, I found the bed quite low down. The restaurant and bar was nice, if a little formal on occasions but the majority of the staff were very nice people.

What spoilt our trip was we had paid for breakfast as part of the booking but on the second day the hotel claimed we hadn't. It was demanded of me by a very rude member of staff that I pay for breakfast before even sitting down for it.

Overall a 6/10 for me, could have been more.
