This was clean and tidy with a nice staff. But, there’s no lift to the top floors so you have to struggle carrying your luggage. Also, there were mosquitoes in the room as the windows don’t have nets. I got a few stings!
I would say only book it , if you’re going to be in Lisse , but it shouldn’t be your main destination and accomodation while staying in the Netherlands area.

I did not find this good value. The hotel location is good and the staff was friendly, and very pleasant. The room was clean, just under furnished. We had to carry around a night table in order to have a place to put down a coffee. There is no dinning table or chairs, nor is there a sofa table. The 2 (sleeper) sofas (futons), might be the most uncomfortable furniture ever made. Thankfully the bed was comfortable. There is no TV in the bedroom, which is something people might expect. Bring you smart phone as there is no radio or alarm clock, nor is there a telephone. The koffe maker tripped the power for the entire suite, not very convenient early in the morning. They do supply a few dishes, but no way to clean them. The dishwasher has no tablets, there is no soap, or drain board. There are blackout curtains in the bedroom however not on the courtyard door glass. It looks like there are remnants of a shade that has been removed. The curtains in the living room (where people are also expected to sleep) do not completely cover the windows. There is no place to put a suitcase and very little room for toiletries. I mentioned some of these deficiencies to the manager, and while he appeared sympathetic, he did not offer to correct the issues immediately, nor did he offer any kind of discount for our discomfort.

I suggest management should spend a few consecutive nights in that room so they understand their guest's discomforts..

Basic hotel with nothing more than the essentials. The welcoming gave us a bad feeling from the start. The lady who checked us in was very unwelcoming & made us feel like an inconvenience or like we had interrupted her day by asking to check-in. The hotel room was exceptionally small with hardly any space to walk around the bed. The breakfast was not very desirable. Basic is the best word to describe everything. However, on the plus side, if it’s just for the one night then it is ideally situated for Keukenhof, the market square & free parking.

I would like to express my appreciation for the quality of the service I received at the Hotel de Duif staff during my recent stay. The entire staff was so kind in their ways and truly made me feel welcomed. Special thanks to Celine, Marian, Bianca, Tim and Ingrid, and all those I cannot recall their names. What a great team. Location is just the best one could have: just a 10 min walk from Keuhenhof. Restaurants are a few steps away, as well as the city center and bus stops.

Years ago I worked in the hospitality industry and I can tell by experience this is not an easy business and can be extremely challenging as its main core is to deal with guests (oh, guests...). Hotel properties are quite similar regardless of which brand one may choose, and what makes the difference from one to another is definitely their staff. As a seasoned traveler who has stayed in all sorts of accommodations - from the cheapest hostels to top 5-stars properties, I can tell that the Hotel staff who provides the service is what defines the guest experience.

I am very much looking forward to my next stay at the Hotel de Duif. The fact that I know I will stay at a property where I feel at home makes all the difference. Thank you so much for making this such a special experience.

The Hotel de Duif Lisse plays very very Fast and Loose with their rates and rules. We reserved three months before our stay, and were required to immediately pay 239 euros a night. Upon arrival, we saw that our room was really tiny, yet the Hotel boasts several two level apartments. We thought there had been a mistake. When I went to the reception desk, I witnessed a couple who had a reservation, hadn’t yet paid, but were immediately given the apartment on two levels, 3 times as big as my room for 169 euros a night. I asked to speak to the manager, who wasn’t available and then asked that he/she contact me, which was never done. I asked the reception employee that our rate be reduced to 169 euros, but no one ever bothered to contact me to explain. If you have money to burn, this Hotel would be just right for you.

Hotel deLis issued travel vouchers for reservations during the cancellation period. Now with a new name they won’t honor the vouchers which do no have an expiration date. They couldn’t do refunds due to the impact COVID had on their business. Provided vouchers that now they won’t honor.

What I’m about to say, I hope this will not happen to you or your family.

We have plan to visit Keukenhof this April 2018. We have been planning this since last summer, special trip for my husband’s parents especially his months who really wants to go there.

We booked directly with Hotel De Duif with confirmed booking on 10 August 2017. Yes, 8 months ahead of our planned arrival on 19th April, 2 nights stay. We booked apartment can accommodate 4 persons and Senior Suite can also accommodate 4. All two rooms for 6 of us.

Our family will be coming from afar and all flights are booked and really looking forward to the holiday.

Yesterday, 12th February, I received an email from Hotel De Duif management that the hotel has been sold and they do not have the rooms that we booked any more so they had to cancel BOTH of our rooms bookings. The room type that we booked no longer bookable as part of the hotel. Looks like they split into 2 separate services.

As soon as I read the email, I got on the phone and spoke to someone who explained that he could not do anything because of the new management so some customers are affected because some of the rooms are no longer for hotel’s use. All he could offer me is minimum of 3 night stay in a room cost more than 350 EUR a night! This is 100% more than my confirmed booking and now can’t book 2 nights as they force people to book 3 nights minimum.

Yes that weekend is a gold mine or any greedy business could take advantage. I knew it’s going to be peak and that’s why I booked well in advance.

I was left with no options from the hotel and the management is probably doesn’t care.

What upsets me is that they cancelled our bookings but at the same time they still have rooms to sell! Yes selling at a very expensive price.

It just feel like the new management doesn’t care who booked from previous management. They made no attempt to move us to any other room - that they still have other rooms available for new bookings!

I would definitely understand if disaster like fire, building collapsed or whatever that made the booked rooms not suitable stay in and there is nothing else left to move guests into. BUT NO! There are other rooms that they offer for new bookings. And who knows, they will probably resell the rooms that I booked to someone else at higher price. Everywhere in Netherlands bulb regions and Amsterdam are very expensive now and most places are booked up because millions visitors will be visiting during the flowers season.

Because they told me so late. Now there is nothing else available in Lisse or any where within 2km from Keukenhof. Ideally we don’t want to be too far unless accommodation is very close to public transport and can reach Keukenhof within 5-10 minutes. We have seniors travelling with us so and this will upset them BIG TIME! It upsets everyone now. This has truly ruined our holiday. Messed up a lot of our plans.

This kinda show the management has no interest in customer service. irresponsible, unprofessional, heartless. I think partly because they are in prime area so they think they can sell, they don’t care about anyone’s feeling. There will be people coming to stay at their hotel years after years.

Don’t book with them if you don’t want your holiday ruined because of poor management. Who knows, next time you got yourself a good rate and they might cancel you at the last minute. There’s no word I can describe our feelings right now. Just shattered, annoyed and very much frustrated.

The staff tried their best, everything is now in the system and they have to contact external agent to book or check for rooms. This is what I have been told.

My family and I chose Hotel de Lis because we wanted to be within walking distance to Keukenhof Gardens, which it was. Check-in was easy, and we were put in a suite, which was perfect for our 4 person family (two adults, two children). There were convertible couches turned down, and made with linens, and the master bedroom is up a short flight of stairs. It's nice that there is a small kitchenette, and it would be perfect had we stayed more than one night.
· The doorknob on the bathroom door came off in my son's hand right when we got in the room-no major problem, but the repairman wasn't able to come until it was bedtime for my children. Unfortunately, he didn't have a replacement doorknob, so he took the doorknob off completely so we didn't accidentally get locked in the bathroom-which was completely fine. Since it was so late in the evening, I didn't see that we needed it, and that they could fix it when we checked out. The hotel had run out of hot water the following morning (after breakfast), but as we were kind of in a rush to get on the road the following morning, we decided to skip showers, so it didn't impact us too much. The front desk agent apologize, and it was obvious that other guests had complained. We told her it really wasn't a biggie for us, but would have been had we stuck around for the day. A couple things that we didn't like-we understand the 'minimalistic' vibe of the hotel room, but there was only one trash can for the room, and it happened to be downstairs. I think they could provide more than one trash can, especially one in the bathroom so travelers don't have to go up and down the stairs to throw stuff away. Also, while the curtains were serviceable, the track needs to be oiled, so they can be closed easily-I yanked them to close them, and had to climb up on the sill because the curtain came off the little hooks (we have the same type at home). The curtain downstairs didn't quite meet the edges of the window, so there was quite a bit of light coming through in the morning, which was just enough to wake the little people up.

Stayed at Hotel de Lis from 16th to 19th April. The main purpose of my trip was to visit the Keukenhof. Hotel de Lis is ideally situated for visiting Keukenhof and the Flower fields. The hotel is easy to reach by bus from Schiphol airport to Keukenhof and the hotel is a 10 minute walk from there and easy to find. Check-in was easy. We stayed in a family suite which had a kitchenette and living area. Rooms were clean and comfortable and looked as if they have been newly renovated. Only drawback of the family suite is a steep stairs if you have young children or infirm. Otherwise it is perfect. The hotel is centrally located in Lisse with shops, restaurants and bars close-by, but is quiet and peaceful at night. Continental breakfast was fine each morning. This hotel is super if you want to visit the Keukenhof because you can reach the Keukenhof first thing in the morning while the park is less busy. Lisse is located in the heart of the flower fields and the area is well serviced with cycle and walking tracks if you want to view the fields which were spectacular when I visited. I would highly recommend this hotel.

You can get to Lisse by bus from Schiphol airport (bus to Noordwijk, ask the driver where to get off). Not sure from other cities, you could ask at the hotel directly. In the city itself most things are at walking distance.

I stayed at Hotel De Duif in January, I caught the bus from the bus station directly outside the airport terminal. If I remember correctly it was the bus to Nordwijk, but I can't remember the number. It goes through Lisse, you would just need to ask the driver where to get off.
