Visited the bank holiday of August. Covid time :( The city was as good as empty and we arrived late Thursday night. All staff wore protective face shields and sanitisers for guest were insisted upon. Paperwork done, we made our way to the room, to find a nice, modern, compact room. We had the breakfast 10 euros for a conental, inc a very small natural youghat and seeds, small pastry, orange juice and fresh coffee....you will not fill your belly on this. But at 17 euro you coudl chose and additonal variation, including, salmon, eggs and other dishes, all very well presented and cooked fresh. Although we did not drink in the bvar in the evening as we were out, we did purchase from a small shop they have there, for minimal essentails. The room has everything you need, including a fridge and dishwasher. Towels provided, TV, hairdrier, stationary, shower gels etc Its a 20-30 minute walk to the mains bars and cancels, by a number of ways, but all very pleasant. Staff are all young, but very polite and professional and a credit to the hotel. The only thing i would say, is the rooms are not suitable for the elderly or people who struggle with stairs and climbing over beds, due to the designs of the rooms.
Hi Neil, Wow...thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely detailed review! We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us and found our staff to be hospitable. Awesome that you got to experience the beautiful city starting from our location. And we definitely do indeed take our safety precautions very seriously while of course continuing to offer the best service possible :) Our lofts do have stairs in order to get to bed, however we check them regularly to make sure they are steady for the safety of all our guests. We hope to welcome you soon again! Best wishes from Amsterdam :) Cheers, Junayra

    Best Apartel in Amasterdam
Stayed at Zoku 6 times now, check-in is quick, modern and easy. Rooms maximise the space with plenty of storage and you're happy to chill in them on the sofa unlike in a normal hotel room. Espresso machine and dishwasher are a massive plus and the shower pressure is brill. If you were staying for a long period for perhaps work, you would be happy to stay in and cook for yourself having all the necessary kitchen utensils. I cannot image staying anywhere else in Amsterdam after trying a handful of Hotels previously an numerous AirB&B apartments.
Hi James, What an awesome feedback! 6 times, wow! I admit you definitely caught the vibe of the place. We’re so happy you loved your Zoku experience and continue coming back to us :) We work hard and try our best to meet our guests' expectations. We hope we'll be the place in Amsterdam for you for the 7th time as well and the one you can call home. We can't wait to have you back at Zoku! See you :) Cheers, Anna

    Fab place...will be back
I’ve been to Amsterdam about 20 time’s & always stayed in hotels however due to COVID we chose to stay in an apartment where we could cook & have limited interaction with other guests. What a gem Zoku is!!! Location - about 10 min walk from Rembrandtplein, 5 mins to a Tram and metro. There is a Spar across the road if you need supplies. Very accessible from central station We stayed in the Zoku loft & I couldn’t complain at all. There is ample storage actually so much more than any hotel room. Bathroom was great water was always boiling hot. The loft has all you need, office station, king size bed with a nifty hidden staircase, safe, couch, table & chairs. Tv with English channels. Kitchen was well equipped even had a dishwasher, all appliances worked, the fan could of been better but overall I was really impressed. They have a pantry on each floor where you can find fresh towels, toilet roll, iron ironing board, kitchen supplies, dishes, toasters you name it! The best thing about Zoku is the rooftop area. You can chill for a drink, do your work or eat. It’s very reasonably priced and had a lovely vibe and outdoor area. We often came back & chilled here. My only complaint was the lack of air & air con. There is only one small window that opens and the air con isn’t air con or didn’t work. It was fine as the weather wasn’t great but I can imagine on a hot summers day it would be unbearable. I would stay again & highly recommend the apartments!
Hi Melissa, Thank you so much for your incredibly awesome and kind words. We’re so happy to hear that you loved Zoku and enjoyed your stay with us! We indeed do not have per se an air con, however we do have an air circulation system as well as windows that can be opened, allowing the lovely Amsterdam fresh air to circulate through the room. Thank you for informing us about the fan, we are always open to feedback in order to ensure our guests the best stay possible. We are very glad that you enjoyed our rooftop area, as we are also very fond of this area :) We hope to be able to welcome you back again for your next Amsterdam visit! Cheers, Junayra

Unfortunately my brain wasn't in gear when I booked this place - was thinking in NZ dollars but not till I got home that I saw the conversion. My fault..... but...... the room was not big enough to warrant such a high price. Maybe guests help pay for the reception, dining area etc, because the room is not worth that price. The bed was hard to get out of for the one sleeping by the wall (I have not rated down for this aspect, just saying). The cover for the duvet did not have domes so it hung loose after one sleep - the bed was comfortable. The couch was uncomfortable. There was no dish cloth to wipe the table or bench - just 2 tea towels. The shower door squeaked very badly every time it was closed. The water came out on to the floor after each shower. Luckily the shower had good pressure. Plenty of places to store luggage in the room and the table was a bonus for eating our meals. The complimentary drink is nice, thank you. The outdoor seating is also nice to be able to enjoy this drink. The staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. The photos make the room look bigger than it is - we booked the Grand Loft. I wasn't impressed that they didn't take my money when I booked the room - that was stated on the hotels.com confirmation email - that they were supposed to take my money - not hotels.com. So we could have avoided the many discussions which wasted my time on 2 days. Further discussions with Hotels.com - they told me that they should have taken the money when I booked. Because they didn't do that, I argued that it had been paid (as per my email stating this), wasted a few hours over this. Plus they accidentally took money from the wrong Visa - even though they refunded it straight away, I lost money on the exchange rate for that incorrect transaction. Too little to embarrass myself to ask for the difference back, so just saying - it was an experience I don't wish to repeat and made me feel dishonest, which I wasn't.

Our stay at Zoku Amsterdam was nothing short of extraordinary. My family and I spent just over a month there, and it was an experience we'll cherish forever. We booked two of the loft XL units, and they exceeded our expectations, mirroring the impeccable design and attention to detail showcased in the photos. What truly sets Zoku apart is its dedication to fostering connections among its guests. I got a chance to attend several of the community dinners here organized by their amazing community manager, Laura. The rooftop co-working and dining spaces were my personal favorites. They not only offered a fantastic working environment but also provided the perfect backdrop for making new friends and memories. Two things that I thought could use improvement was the cost of laundry and the daily bike rental fee. Since we were 4 of us and it was a long stay, it got really expensive for laundry. For the bike rental, we opted for renting with Swapfites. Stay here and you won’t be disappointed!

We came to Amsterdam to get married. We arrived to find a bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge, and that we'd been given a room with a view of the famous Skinny Bridge. We stayed for two weeks - and would happily have stayed longer! The vibe at Zoku is warm, calm, and peaceful. The staff ("sidekicks") are without exception warm and friendly, and went out of their way to assist us. For example, we had to leave before breakfast on our last day there, so they arranged for us to have dinner the evening before instead. The room/studio was beautifully designed, both in the aesthetic and the practical senses. It was spacious enough so that we felt comfortable staying there when we needed to rest. The bed was very comfortable - a must for us, as we're in our sixties. I brought my own memory foam pillow, but discovered I didn't need it, as the hotel's pillows are just as comfortable and orthopedically correct! The location is convenient to public transportation, which is excellent in Amsterdam, and walking distance to the center. It's a few minutes' walk to the Amstel and the canals. Recently the city decided to experiment with closing off some of the nearby streets, so the surroundings were relatively quiet. The breakfast was plentiful and quite good; it could have been more varied, though one of the staff id ask us for suggestions on how to vary it more. The kitchen facilities were overall very good, though the rooms are equipped with a microwave but not with an oven or toaster-oven, so cooking options were a bit limited. But other than that, everything was perfect!

Very spacious loft room which was great! Breakfast was expensive but does not cater to customers with allergies. Gluten-free options-consisted of a bread roll which was then unavailable come day two of of our four day stay. Unfortunately no gluten-free cereal options available or any vegan options as an alternative. Food service was very slow later in the day also with bar snacks served luke warm. Staff are very pleasant and super welcoming but our room wasn’t serviced during our four day stay as promised. Overall a brilliant hotel with great rooms but a few disappointments along the way.

I had an amazing stay here - the rooms are really well equipped & have lots of compact storage for a longer stay. The co-working space has lots of different areas to work from & has a relaxed, yet buzzy atmosphere. The restaurant & bar provided great food & had a good drink selection. The Zoku team were always warm & friendly & made feel extremely welcome during my stay here!

Service at front desk - 3 stars Room - 4 stars Bed - 4 stars Location - 3 stars Uniqueness - 4 stars Price - $260 average a night Total: 18 stars out of 25 Average: 3.6 stars After finding out about Zoku on TripAdvisor, I was very excited to stay here. I reserved for seven nights but had to cut my stay short & stayed for only four nights. Unlike other hotels, Zoku will charge you for the entire reservation whether you stay the whole time or not. This was what I was told by the "front desk" on their communal floor. So I basically paid an extra $600+ for a room that would probably be recirculated. The front desk is manned by college staff members who may or may not be friendly. The first staff who helped me on check in day was very friendly, subsequent staff weren't as pleasant, but they were still able to assist. The room itself is quirky. It feels small, compact and a tad claustrophobic. There's a kitchenette, a narrow walkway & the bed is up the stairs which was fun to go up & down. The ceiling is very low in the bed area and it works for one person. Since I was solo traveling, it was fine. The memory foam mattress was the most comfortable bed out of the other hotels I stayed at in my one month of traveling. There were construction noises every morning that traveled up & would have been disruptive if I wasn't already up with the jet lag and all. The washer/dryer area is on the lowest floor & though I wished it was in the room itself, it was convenient enough. The communal area is a fun place to just sit and hang out if you need to socialize. One should visit just to enjoy the view and the interior designs. The location was a lot farther than I originally factored in. Since I walked everywhere, It took a while to get to places and to return back from the central area of Amsterdam. There is definitely a lack of vibe or energy around the hotel. But if you're looking for far away, quiet and a tiny "apartment", this may work for you. As for me, since the novelty left soon after I checked in, I'll try another place in my next Amsterdam stay.

Dear guest, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a detailed review, we really appreciate it. I am sorry to hear about some parts of the experience that you describe in the review. Whether you get a refund or not indeed depends on the rate that you have booked. When it is Non Refundable the price can not be refunded as it is a cheaper rate than all the other rates. For some of the Fully Flexible rates this can be a different case. Also thank you for the feedback for the staff, the room and the washer/dryer situation. We will make sure to look into this with the team. We are happy that next to this you were still able to enjoy the bed and our communal area! Again thank you so much for your feedback. Enjoy your evening. Cheers, Marcia

The room was very hot and the AC did not work - not good considering the bed is up near the ceiling. Then on the morning of checkout, I get a call at around 11:15 from the front desk when I am in the shower (presumably reminding me to check out) and at around 11:30 when I am getting out of the shower, someone barges into my room without even knocking on the door (presumably to check to see if I left and then they leave without even saying a word). I pack and get to the front desk to check out at noon and they inform me that they have to charge me 25 euro because I was an hour late checking out. So after I pay over 340 euros per night, they nickel an dime me for an extra hour on the way out. Ridiculous. Never staying here again.
