I and a group of friends originally booked this hotel in Amsterdam for 5 days in July before we set off on a 10 day cruise from Amsterdam to Barcelona. We also booked 5 days in Barcelona after the cruise Following the lockdowns across Europe our cruise was cancelled and fully refunded, along with the hotel in Barcelona This hotel refused to refund our money as they were still open! This was despite the fact we were unable to travel by our national governments. All they offered was to move the dates We moved the dates to October also changing our flights, car parking etc. Upon my arrival I was gobsmacked to find that as I was a few hours early I was expected to pay 15 euros to be able to check in to my room, this was despite the fact the hotel was empty, see pic Then to add insult to injury they wanted another 20 euros to extend my check out from 11am to 1pm After a chat with the manager he told me the new check in/out rules were imposed by the XO group The room was fine apart from the AC not working, and despite assuring me it would be fixed it was not. The room was so cold I had to prop the bathroom door open as the only source of heat was the heated mirror Due to restrictions in force when we arrived there was no restaurant available for meals except breakfast which was basic but adequate and the restaurant staff were very nice and helpful Following restrictions imposed on 14/10, all restaurants cafes and bars in Amsterdam were closed that night All that we could do on our last night; 15/10 was to order a take away We checked with reception if we could have our meal in the hotel cafe area which was agreed to and we were provided with plates and plastic cutlery When our take away arrived we laid it all out on the table and we were just about to start when the receptionist told us we could not eat in the cafe area as the hotel was “dry” no alcohol allowed this was despite checking we could have our take away in the cafe and no mention was made that we couldn’t drink alcohol with our meal. We then had to pack everything up and move to one of our rooms! See pic I will never stay at an XO hotel in future

The hotel is situated in a somewhat quiet area with a tram stop right outside giving you direct access straight into the heart of Amsterdam in 20 mins. The hotel staff were very helpful except the one staff member covering the night shift who told us following "complaints" he would have to check us out of the hotel despite that not even being hotel policy. He seemed to have an issue with us being there, not sure why. We were asked to turn down our music and did so at the first time of asking, yet he was ready to kick us out. The chef was amazing and extremely accommodating given the circumstances of covid etc. They are able to provide dairy free and gluten free breakfasts if you request this once you check in. Not the breakfast buffets we're used to but she did still offer to make us some eggs to go with the baguettes, croissants and cereals etc they were still offering (scrambled, fried or omelettes), we chose the latter! Overall it was a pleasant stay, nice breakout games room/gym where you won't have to be cooped up in your room if you didn't want to go out. Overall satisfied with what we got for our money. Rooms were a decent size and cleanliness was 9/10.

We decided to stay here because of the fair price, the good connection to the city centre and the option to park our car in their private car park. Check-in by the terminal in the lobby (because of Covid-19) went very smooth and there was always some staff nearby to answer any questions. They explained the parking to me and told me the best way to get to the city center. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Our bathroom had a single sink and only a shower, but that was no problem for us. The tram to the city centre has a stop right in front of the hotel. (Tram line 2) It goes all the way to Amsterdam Central Station, treats you to a nice view of the city streets and houses and also stops on several big squares. We opted for a 24h tram ticket.

Nice hotel but lacking in maintenance, otherwise okay overall. Very poor breakfast for a 4 star. You have to invest urgently in a toaster and do away with the canned fruit salad, it's really unworthy of a hotel like this.

This was a gre hotel, there is a tram that stops right outside and takes you further into the centre. Train station isn't far either, we caught a train from the aiport to Lelylaan and walked (about 20 mins) to the hotel, however you catch a tram too. Upon arrival, the staff are very polite and helpful and quick to get you to your room. The rooms are clean and we had no issues. The surrounding area is actually fairly quiet, which is good. There isn't much in the way as restaurants etc.. there is more variety further into the city centre (Canal Ring).
