Had a good stay at the Volks which is well situated only a 10min metro ride into A’dam central and a pleasant 15min walk to De Pijp, metro entrance is right outside the hotel. Not quite sure about some of the design and features of the hotel, there’s a lot of bare concrete and some of the fittings look/seem very cheap, the caravan in the main lobby I just don’t get it just displays over priced volkshotel souvenirs. The rooms could be cleaner, the shower & toilet are separate and there is no door on the shower just chain mail hanging down, a little tricky for a family sharing a room with teenagers. Never used the restaurants always had our meals out but the coffee served in the bar/cafe in the main lobby was excellent and a nice way to start the day.

Thank you for sharing your review! First of all nice to hear that you had an overall nice experience! It is true that we are a not so typical hotel and we like to stand out from the rest! We take your feedback about the cleanliness of the rooms with us for the future. Good to know if you are thinking about visiting us again. We have different room types also with more private bathrooms perfect for sharing families and teens, and even special themed rooms. Nice to hear that you started your mornings enjoying the coffee. We do hope to welcome you again soon! Best regards, Volkshotel

Hotel's Favorite
The Volkshotel is very conveniently located in Amsterdam. From the adjacent metro station, you can get anywhere within 10-15 minutes. Or rent a bike and cycle around town. We stayed one night in the Edmund special room, a room that has a 'fortress' inside with lots of plants. The bathtub was located on top of the bed. The bed is very comfortable. We never had to leave our room, because of the beamer with a giant window screen that also served as a curtain. The hotel itself has all these amazing facilities as well, from (late night) bars, a hairdresser to hot tubs on the roof. The Werkplaats downstairs serves amazing coffee and the hipsters combined with tourists makes the place very lively. We had dinner at Canvas, with very tasty food on the roof with amazing views. The next day we found out that the contents of the mini bar in the room were for free! We will definitely come back.

Great to hear you enjoyed all the fun things Volkshotel has to offer! And you are right, our special rooms can be so nice to hang out in sometimes it seems unnecessary to even leave the room! We're glad you had the opportunity to explore a bit as well though. We hope to see you again!

Stayed at Volkshotel in a large group for my friends hen do. Hotel itself is really nice, has a boutique feel and is very quirky. We stayed in a quadruple room, the floating bed is a bit odd and wouldn’t recommend if you don’t like heights! Rooms are clean and spacious, plenty of space for 4 girls to get ready! Only issue is there is no door to the shower, so if you are sharing a room be prepared to get to know each other very quickly! Location of the hotel is great, train stop is a couple of minutes walk away. There is also plenty of brunch spots close to the hotel. Check in and check out were fine and staff were nice enough. The hotel doesn’t really like hen party’s so we had to keep decorations and dressing up to a minimum. I had reserved an area in the hotel bar ahead of our visit but was later told they don’t take reservations (even though I had it on an email?!) The rooftop bar and sauna and jacuzzis are fun and there is also a club in the basement which was also fun! Overall would highly recommend!

I love this hotel. I have stayed a couple of times and it has always been a great experience. There is so much to look at, the staff are very friendly and super helpful. The parking is the cheapest I have found in Amsterdam so far. Hot tubs on the roof are amazing with an incredible view of the city and the bar is super. Rooms are great value for money. Will definitely be staying again.
