Very convenient, beautifully clean, well managed apartment. Sadly, 1 of our family very badly broke her ankle on the first night and ended up in hospital having an operation. We will always be grateful to the hotel staff for the care and support we received during a very difficult time, they were exceptional.

The apartment is in a fantastic central location in the heart of the red light district. It was clean with good facilities, good wifi, comfy beds, decent shower. There is a cool communal smoking room which is large and comfy. We basically had that to ourselves. There was also a balcony to smoke on. We were on the 6th floor and the stairs are steep. So something to consider if you aren't mobile. We could leave luggage securely all day after check out. We booked for an apartment with 6 beds and 3 bedooms but we got one with 5 beds and only 2 bedrooms. Luckily we were a group of 5. It seemed to be a genuine mistake and the manager gave us a fair discount for the problem, so it was fine but would have been a problem if we were a group of 6. So maybe check the apartment details carefully once booked. However, happy overall and staff helpful. We would come again.

We stayed in Mario's apartment at the beginning of July. A family with 5 adult children. The apartment was perfect!!!! Clean, tidy, clean towels, kitchen equipped with everything! Comfortable and clean beds. A very pleasant balcony. There is no elevator, but it's really nonsense, it's not too bad to "climb" 3 floors. The host Mario is a lovely man who helps with everything. including picking up d the luggage. The hotel has a large guest room where you can leave your luggage locked on the day of departure and stay in a private room with a TV with Netflix. Highly recommended. I have no doubt that we will return there even as a couple.

I really enjoyed staying here for a week. Location was great- restaurants, bars, coffeeshops, and a small supermarket all within a very, very short walk. Not to mention about a 10 minute walk to Dam Square. Our apartment was on the top floor and had a small balcony to relax on after a long day exploring.

We stayed here as a family of 5. The location was right in the heart of Amsterdam with 3 bedrooms with two single beds in each room. The apartment is quite big and accommodated the 5 of us quite comfortably. There is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, two showers though in the same bathroom and one separate toilet. A hairdryer is also supplied along with iron and ironing board. There is a laundromat right across the street, though the wonderful Mario offered to do some of our washing for us and even folded it and left it in our apartment the next day. The customer service was fantastic and so helpful. The location is a little noisy of a night due to being right next to the red light district and bars and restaurants but eventually they do go home. For price, location, service plus if you’re a larger group I would recommend booking this place.

It was a great stay. The hotel location is excellent and very central. For families, and in my opinion, it is an important advantage. The staff is very welcoming, informative and helpful. These are the pros.... for the biggest apartment there was only one toilet and two baths in the same room. For the five of us it was crowded. There is an a/c only in the living room. If you plan to be here during the summer be prepared to sleep in the living room. And one last thing for those of you who does not read the fine prints… the hotel takes a commission of 20% (twenty). un believable. Do not book here! It is not cost effective

Response from Mario L, Guest Relations Manager at The Monk Amsterdam Apartments Hotel
Responded Sep 5, 2019
Dear Izharm, Thanks for your review but is misleading and fake information because you booked by Booking.com and they are the agency who charge commission as we cannot charge a commission to stay into our property so you should claim to your agency about the Airco we have 2 airconditioning into each apartment and they freeze the entire apartment since are 20.000 btu so maybe you did not know how to set the right temperature and about the space I can assure all our apartments are bigger comparing standard hotel rooms or apartments if you want to have more space you could book the 4 bedroom apartment instead than 3. So your review is contradicting itself since you had a great stay, good location, great staff and very informative and you complain about the agency commission which has nothing to do with us. I wish you a great life.

Had an excellent stay here early April 2019 with 3 friends. Location wise this place is superb, bang in the heart of Amsterdam. Clean rooms, lounge/dining/kitchen well all great. Staff/Management were super easy to deal with and made our stay stress free. The appartments are 25m from one of the only CCTV'd squares in Amsterdam and was a great location to lock up our hired bicycles (highly recommended to scoot around the city with ease). All in all, a super stay, will definitely return. A++++

So pleased I found this apartment. For a family of 5, inc a 10 yr old child this apartment gave us brilliant space to relax and being so central to everything we could easily walk to all the places we wanted to go. Yes the staircase is steep but the very helpful and attentive guys will even carry up your bags if you want them to. The apartment itself was so spacious and with 3 bedrooms it is perfect for groups. The beds are all singles so you can move them together or apart as you wish. One separate toilet but 2 showers in the bathroom. Well appointed with ample towels and toiletries. Good kitchen space with loads of equipment. The whole booking and checking system was simple. Having the downstairs space for securely leaving your bags on the final day was brilliant so we didn’t have the hassle of lugging around your bags and you can use this area right up to you leaving as they trust you with the access card. Yes it is in the red light district but the actual street is not full of ‘attractions’ and you can just walk around the busy area if you wish to avoid it. At just a short walk from Central station it is ideally situated. We walked everywhere and loved it!

In the very heart of the red light district, it is one of the best position if you want to experience the most characteristic side of the town. Perfect for groups (in Amsterdam it is so difficult to find big apartments for more than 6 people) and also for colleagues groups for those companies (as mine) with persons who can stay in the same apt sharing just one bathroom and one toilet. Noisy till late in the night, very steep stairs (so think about your luggage before leaving!), apparently clean (but full of dust and grease where it shouldn't), no bedside lights or tables for everyone (you can ask of course even if it's not possible for all beds), too expensive in my opinion. The doormen were so kind and helpful at any time. I still have to thank them for all the help and the support.
