We arrived sun 8th march

First impressions were good, reception checked in quickly and efficiently.

Room was good, clean, coffee machine, toiletries, sewing kit and mini shoe horn. Lifts were small but 2 were available, beds were comfy, free safe in your room, hair dryer and ironing board. Quiet at night, room has a temp controller so you can tailor how hot or cool you prefer.

Area was about 15 min away from the centre using bus 21, perfect for us. Transport in amsterdam very efficient, bus every 10 minutes.

Breckfast was lovely, lots of selection , worth booking for your stay.

We would return again, there are some negative reviews on here which I dont understand as the hotel was perfectly adequate for a few night city break

Reading some of the reviews before we went did make us wonder what to expect. We didn't need to have worried. Room 188 comfy bed, pillows and bed linen spotless. View over the house boats. Breakfast was one of the best buffet breakfast we have had and good value at 10€ each if booked night before. Bit of a way from the centre but buses and tram stops close by. We got the 69 bus from the airport and about 5 minute walk to the hotel. Reception staff very welcoming and house keeping staff were really helpful. Being away from the centre did make it quieter and we slept well each night.

Decent hotel for staying in Amsterdam. To get to the city centre takes about 15 minutes on the tram which is a 2 minute walk from the hotel which costs €3.20 or you can buy a passes via the GVB app. Staff were nice especially the girls at reception very helpful. The hotel itself was abit meh, rooms were nice and cleans always. On some night there was a lot of loud music being played and people screaming at unsociable hours. There were also a silly racist person who named their wifi hotspot something crazy - not the hotels fault but you can’t stop ignorant idiots from booking. They only serve breakfast on the weekends - didn’t eat anything but it was €15 per person per day. However, there are shops and supermarkets within walking distance. I enjoyed my stay as I wasn’t really in the hotel much. If you’re looking to go to Amsterdam and be in the city centre I would suggest spending abit more to be at the Ibis as in total I spent around €50 on travel for the 5 days I was there.

Lousy Cleaning very bad
the hotel has no category for 4 stars, starting with cleaning the rooms. The Halls have dirty, very old carpet. When opening the bed I was amazed with hair over the sheets, I complained at the reception the employee came to the room and said that he could do nothing because the night had no cleaning staff. When I was sleeping the noise of the elevator doors when I opened it, it was like someone hit with a hammer, and that bothers you when you are sleeping. on the day of the departure I asked to speak to the person in charge of the hotel and it was not available, I complained to the receptionist about what happened and said that the chef would return on my card 10% of the stay which did not happen.
12 to 14 Fev room 820.

We were 3 friends staying for 7 nights at the Blue tower hotel and it was perfect. The triple bedroom had a lot of space in it, the room was cleaned every day and the staff was very responsive and helpful.
There is a big shopping center right behind the hotel with various shops in it (KFC, groceries, clothes, pharma, etc) for everything you need.
Note the the hotel is not in the center of the city but there are few tram station right next to the hotel, especially GVB line 21 to centraal station which takes about 15 mins of ride and Bus line 80 that can get you to Haarlem in about 30 mins.
If you want clean, not expensive hotel and don't mind the distance from the center - the Blue tower is highly recommended.

This is possibly the worse place we have ever stayed. We arrived early as we had an early flight but went straight to the hotel to leave our luggage. We were told the room wasnt ready as they believed in quality not quantity, it needed to be spotless. We were asked if we wanted high or low and as i had read about the lifts i requested low. We were pretty tired so thought about 2pm we would go back on the hope it was ready. The girl said yes then gave us room 1001 on the 10th floor. We got out the lift and the smell on the landing, (which looked as if a hoover had never been near it) was utterly disgusting. Anyway when one of the guys pulled his sheet down to get under the covers there was popcorn stuck to the sheet. The coffee machine was really dirty. The next day my husband and i went out and left the guys asleep. When they got up and made the beds there was empty bottles, a half eaten kitkat, someones tshirt, crisp bags and crumbs and cobwebs. I went to the reception to complain and she basically looked at me as if i was talking rubbish. She said her collegue was waiting to inspect the room so came up with us to look. She said fair enough the coffee machine should be cleaned but they dont clean under the beds everytime someone checks out. Then a cheeky idiot came to the door shouting at us to get out. He couldnt cleen if we were in it. I explained it should have been cleaned for us staying in it and It was new years eve and we had to get ready to go out. I said he’d have to come back as it wasnt possible for us to go out at that point. He stood shouting at us and i eventually had to tell him to go away. When the cleaner came at 4pm on new years day to clean he was in out room for 40mins. Still never took a cloth to the coffee machine, still never took the kitkat away or any of the other rubbish. I dont think my standards are high, this place just isnt clean, and i dont expect to get shouted at from a cleaner wondering about with a clipboard who clearly has issues when he gets complained about for not even doing basic cleaning. I have read other reviews and the management have said they didnt make comments at the time or they would have swapped the room. I can assure you we did complain, it was just a complete waste of time. Theres plenty hotels in Amsterdam, so id advise you try one of them and avoid this.

This hotel should be honest and say that it is a 2 star hotel. We stayed in Feb 2023, room was not cleaned properly, had to go over surfaces with baby wipes, beds and sheets have stains on them in close inspection. Asked for housekeeping and all that they did was make up the beds and replace towels. Nothing else was cleaned. Furniture and fittings are worn and dirty. In the front lobby the bar is closed so no hot or cold refreshments. The sofas are disgustingly stained. Very poor for the communal area and first impressions. No room service. No restaurant on site apart from breakfast which is not worth the money. Processed meats and very little variety. For a 4star you would expect the tables to be set but no! Two types of egg boiled or something that resembles scrambled- no choice to order omelettes or fried eggs. Baked beans tasted off and mushrooms straight out of a tin taste! I’ve had better breakfast in budget hotels. A 4star would usually have a gym or swimming pool but this hotel does not. It is right in the middle of a housing estate and not in a nice area. Staff look liked they had just rolled out of bed and no real customer service. The only positive is that they let you store luggage for free. Apart from that there is nothing else going on here. Not a 4star hotel but charging 4 star prices. It’s a budget style hotel. Do not waste your money. You will regret it. It is also away from Amsterdam Central so have to take transport into the City. I would not stay here again.

This hotel was so so poor. Where to start, From check in it was disorganised. Took me over 20 mins to get a correct bill. When I did finally get my room My first room, pokey horrid. Luckily reception rang about a matter unresolved at the desk. I said can you hear that noise, they informed me it was building work in the restaurant and didn’t know when it would stop. I had to actually tell them to provide a new room without exceptionally loud drilling.
My 2nd room was hardly luxurious, I had a view of people from the housing estates washing hanging. I noticed the following day that within the estate was a dance music enthusiast. The dull thud of base was non stop during the Saturday and Sunday morning. I thought there is no point informing reception, they had so far been not much use.

So the hotel in general is in a terrible location, the area felt pretty rough at night, there was very little in the area for tourists. I felt like the hotel was falling apart, the elevators felt unsafe and a large part of the hotel felt poorly maintained and unsafe. I doubt the fire alarms were regularly tested.

The staff are poorly trained, I wasn’t even asked about my stay in check out. The price was not good, we overpaid! Not value for money.
On a final note, it’s 2020. 2 women do share beds, we can also marry each other. I did not appreciate being questioned on whether the bed choice was the right one!

Worst hotel I have stayed in for a very long time!

XO Blue tower, Amsterdam. Booked via Booking.com
We arrived as a party of 8, two parents, four sons and two girlfriends, on a Tuesday morning, paid 200 euros a night, for 4 nights and we were leaving on the Saturday morning.
We were all given rooms on the tenth floor which stunk of egg/ammonia. This smell was also apparent in our room, room 1006. We spoke to reception about the smell and were told that they knew about it, that is was coming from the carpets and that the people who were supposed to come to sort the problem didn’t appear. They didn’t appear during our whole stay and the place smelled awful..
One of our rooms had a non-functioning safe which was reported on the Wednesday morning but was not fixed until the Friday. Fortunately my sons used our safe but you have to ask yourself if you have no one else on your trip where do you secure your valuables.
The room was tired looking, bright orange ‘out of date’ plastic chairs, a hard bed, and on the bed was one 'half of a pillow’, yes half a pillow. Right above my bed was a vent of some sort that showed its age as the paint was flaking
The towels were pathetic. The bath towel was about 3ft x 1.5 feet, and was tissue thin and useless at best. The shower was one of those where you moved the handle a miniscule bit and it went too hot, a fraction the other way and it went cold.
The towel rail that should have been above the end of the bath was missing, leaving the 6 rawl plugs without a job.
Breakfast was decent to be honest. Baked beans tasted like Heinz, bacon was thin and crispy, scrambled egg was……scrambled egg! Unfortunately the sausages were rubbish chicken but the meatballs were ok. A selection off cereals, salad bar and fruit juices were good.
For some reason we got one English tea bag in the room and when I asked the housekeeping guy for more, he gave me ONE! Fruit tea bags were in abundance though unlike the milk and the tea cups had been borrowed from someone dolls house
This hotel was advertised as a four star..Mmmmmmmm, a bit of fantasy going on here, it’s a three at most. The exterior is run down, the paintwork is faded, there moss on the walls and generally looks abandoned.
If anyone is looking to stay here, then I would advise to reconsider. We booked late’ish so the prices were a bit inflated however if we were to return we would find something better and definitely not return here

The hotel don`t seems like a 4* hotel at all.
About the facilities:
The couch in the entrance are dirty and look old.
The towels left in the room were dirty (hairs and painted).

About the staff:
After asking the staff cooperation to change for a bigger room or upgrade for the same room to alow 3 persons to sleep, their help was = 0.
Their argumentation was that the hotel was full, but in the hotel site there was avaiability.
So as result, we left the hotel and get another one and this hotel lost the chace to get more money from us.

Definitly i will not recomend this hotel!

Everything you could want for an overnight stay is available and most things already in the room including a hairdryer. Buses to the centre are just around the corner.
