Stayed 3 nights. As per other reviews, we also found Blaine to be rude and unapproachable. Felt like we were imposing so much on his space and time that we ended up not havinng breakfast there - easier just to go out for breakfast than to get shouted at (again) by him. Creaky apartment up many flights of stairs, the creaking floorboards means we woke up whenever a guest used the shared bathroom. Our room was very dimly lit, even when every available light was switched on. The dog ran into our room whenever the door opened - which is cute, if you don’t have allergies. Won’t be staying here again.

I enjoyed my two night stay at Blaine’s. It is a true B&B, with a generous and tasty breakfast. Blaine welcomed me with a delicious fresh mint tea, and tips for my short visit to Amsterdam. My double bed room was quiet and spacious with a tea/coffee making corner. The bathroom is shared with the other bedroom on the floor. I enjoyed having a chance to cuddle with Jessie? Blaine’s cocker spaniel love-bug. The location is about a 25 minute tram ride to the main sites in Amsterdam (15 minutes to the Rijksmuseum). There are decent restaurant and fast food options around the corner. As with many accommodations in this city, you must be willing/able to climb a few flights of stairs to reach the flat. All in all, a very pleasant place to stay.

My partner and I recently stayed at Blaine's for 4 nights. This is what we liked- 1. Location - you may not want to walk into the city center every day, but transport is easy to get to and navigate 2. Dinner and breakfast - we loved the variety and the care that was put into organizing 3. The company - we loved being able to chat with the other guests and Blaine was a good facilitator. What we believe could make this stay a good one- 1. Be prepared for steps. This is not uncommon in this part of the world, but it's good to keep in mind. 2. Be open to meeting others. You may be sharing a bathroom, and breakfast, and/or dinner together. 3. Ask Blaine for recommendations; he is knowledgeable and knows Amsterdam. We agree with the last review which stated that they felt they were imposing. We could not put our finger on it, but we felt the same. This could simply be a difference in personality.

Breakfast was gd. Room clean, spacious and comfortable. It gave us the chance to allow our baby to crawl around the place too. Location suited us as I was running the marathon and it was close to the start/finish line. Handy for tram into the centre of town and in a seemingly safe area. Dog might annoy some, not us as we have one. Owner was professional and fulfilled his side of things but we both got the impression that we were imposing on him which made us actually feel slightly uncomfortable, maybe we weren't but we both got a vibe, even beforehand by email Blaine seemed a little bit blunt but maybe we are wrong and it is just his way. The stairs, I can deal with 4-5 flights of stairs, I don't need help with baggage even if I do have a baby hanging off me but the offer would be nice in that particular situation to customers. We do plenty of travelling, Amsterdam is an expensive place & Blaine's b&b is gd value in that city. Gd luck with your business in the future.

We stayed in the room overlooking the rooftop terrace, which was simply beautiful. The room was very tastefully decorated, breakfast was ah-mazing, and Blaine was very helpful with every concern we had. The location was great too, Tram 2 takes you to the center in a matter of minutes, and you can walk around a very charming neigborhood, with shops, cafés, restaurants and parks readily available. It was actually nice to stay in a "real" part of Amsterdam, i.e. not too touristy.
