Me and my friends stayed in a room with four beds for two nights. The people in the reception were nice and service minded, but our room was freezing because the oven did not work properly and we only had one blanket each (no duves). And the only window in the room could not close properly, so no wonder it...

After looking at the reviews left about hostel Croydon my expectations were very low! But we arrived after a very easy walk from the train station. The hostel is in a perfect location, easy to walk/ bike/ tram to anywhere. There are steep steps up to the reception so bare this in mind! But we got to our 10 bed...

Paid 50 euros to stay here. OK, it was a Saturday night but it was really terrible. Absolutely nothing like the pictures at all. Stained bed sheet, no duvet just an unclean blanket, dirty shower, gloomy gloomy atmosphere with nothing apart from marks all over the dirty wall, no bed light or even your own plug socket, no atmosphere. Other...

We were doing a road trip and stayed in several hostels, so we did not have any problem with sharing the room. However, the rooms do not look like the photos. The lockers do not close and can easily be open so you risk getting robbed. The room was really dirty, the floor was sticky and it smells really bad,...

This is one of the cheapest hotels in Amsterdam, I believe, but accomodation is really bad. But, if you dont want to pay big money, and stay in Amsterdam for couple of days, this hotel is pretty acceptable.

It was my fault that I didn't notice the cancelling policy (3 days in advance). At first there were only 3 people so I booked 3 beds for 3 nights in 10-bed dorm. Later on one of my friends wanted to join so I booked 1 4-bed room (right before the trip) so they charged us for the first night...

We stayed on the 4th floor for 3 nights. The stairs were really narrow and hard to climb -no elevator- , the staff were not friendly and one of them did not speak good English and could not communicate with us as he should. The bathroom was the most disgusting thing ever and we could barely use the bathroom and...

My friend and I needed somewhere to stay for a few nights, this was the cheapest place that was available at the time we booked. The location is great, but that's about it. The rooms were pretty small and were super hot when we were there. There was also a mouse running about downstairs, but he left the scene pretty...

Very good location and warm room. Everything else was terrible. Very small and not very clean bathrooms. Very small room and overall an unpleasant place. If you are not staying for a short time and you care about more than location wouldn't recommend.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
