Well what can I say, we didn't know what to expect from this place until we got there and let me tell you, we had a wonderful stay! We highly recommend this place! As a gay couple we enjoyed it so much! (and I bet non gay guests will also enjoy it). We stayed in a double room with private...

We were well received and paid upon arrival. Wifi code was provided without us asking. Next was the stairs. The pictures and descriptions are totally accurate and the stairs were more extreme than I had imagined, being a first timer to Amsterdam. We made it up and were rewarded with our room: the Superior Twin, with Private shower and shared...

I booked my stay here based on the amazing testimonies here on Trip Advisor that just raved about the service and friendliness here. I really wonder if I actually booked the same hotel. It's actually very funny reading the reviews and comparing my experience. It's really just your basic one star hotel. Period. I checked in after a harried day...

Stayed there in March en route to Iceland and I will say this -- you will not find a more amazing location and more gracious hosts anywhere in the City. By all means, give it a try instead of a typical tourist style hotel. I found the stairs and the shared bath/shower to be part of the fun and culture...

Golden Bear is one of the friendliest gay-owned hotels that I had the fortune to stay in during my visit to Amsterdam. Easy access, centrally located, and very personable hosts/staff. Reasonably priced rooms, most with shared bath/showers. I will definitely return for another stay and strongly recommend this small hotel for the gay traveler.

My only issue was the street noise and trafiic. You could hear the crowds and the trams al night long. This was because the hotel is situated right near gay life and , a busy intersection. That means it was close to everything. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was good. For europr the room was adequate. There was no bathtub in the room.There...

We had a double room with en-suite shower (Rooms 17-19 on the Golden Bear's website) which are at the very top of the hotel up three very steep flights of stairs - which is typical for a Dutch canal-house property. The welcome from Theo was very friendly and informative and the room was fine - simply decorated with everything you...

We had an extended weekend in Amsterdam, and were delighted with this cute hotel. The location cannot be faulted, central but also in a quietish side road with excellent tram links all over the city. We found everyone very friendly and made to feel at home very quickly. It's a typical narrow Amsterdam hotel so we expected the steep stairs,...
