The hotel was lovely, the people were polite and caring. The guest amentities and in room amenities were wonderful. I would stay here again, and I wish more of the hotels I stayed during my travels were this loveley and personal.

We stayed in this hotel 4 years ago and we loved it. It was a really beautiful hotel. The rooms were beautiful and the minibar was filled free of charge every day at that time. The staff were not very friendly. When we went into the hotel the lady at the desk put my credit card into her machine and...

We stayed for three nights here with our two children aged 11 and 15. We all enjoyed the hotel and especially liked the pool/spa. We had rooms with a city view. Both rooms were comfortable and clean but we were not wowed by them. The free mini bar was great and was well stocked with both soft and alcoholic drinks...

The hotel is very much NOT a five star hotel. The internet was not working throughout my stay and my coffee machine and TV were both broken. In addition, after trying to transfer a reservation at the front desk (to align it with a 2nd reservation), the hotel charged both, ultimately double charging me for my two night stay. The...

As others have mentioned, the Amrath is not quite a 5 star hotel but was very good and we enjoyed our 2 night stay. Interesting old building that felt like you were inside an old cruise liner, however our room was huge and well appointed with free WIFI and a nice touch that the mini bar was free. Only complaint...

We spent 3 nights there, for a honeymoon birthday, during a long week-end. The location is great, walking distance (or through bicycles) from the historic center of Amsterdam ; close to the railway station as well (400 meters). The building is superb, with a lot of history (pls refer to their website) : magnificant Art Nouveau architecture. I chose this...

My husband and I (early 30s) stayed at the Grand Amrath for 4 nights with our 2 year old daughter. We enjoyed the stay, but this is not a 5 star hotel. Location is very good - it is an easy walk from the train station and other activities. Check in was quite easy and our daughter's bed was already...

Let me begin by saying that everyone on staff was lovely. People were friendly and tried to be helpful. However whether it be cultural or personal the service and facilities are not comparable to other 5 star hotels I have stayed. They do not tell you when reserving that they do not have air conditioning, but rather some other air...

Very unique hotel established in the former Shipping house. We got upgraded in an incredible room because I do not like carpets and had requested wooden floors that they could not accomodate in the range of rooms we had booked. The room was really amazing, large, comfortable and nicely decorated in an old fashioned way. The bathroom was amazing with...

Stayed here for three nights last week whilst on a mini-break to Amsterdam. First impresson is of the very striking and impressive exterior, truly beautiful. We were in a deluxe room overlooking the canal, and it was lovely - very high ceiling, with two other separate rooms off our mini-hallway - a shower/toilet, and then a bathroom with double sink...

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
