Nestled in the heart of Amsterdam, the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre garners mixed reactions regarding its service, with guests appreciating the friendliness but occasionally encountering lapses in attentiveness. The hotel boasts a stylish and welcoming atmosphere, thanks to its modern, spacious rooms that, despite some maintenance and cleanliness concerns, provide comfort. Recently returned from a trip to Amsterdam, staying at the Movenpick for 3 nights in an Executive Room. We had great hotel amenities, with a stunning view out towards the city/river and the executive room came with access to the Executive Lounge, which we found beneficial after a long day exploring the city.

The hotel is in prime location, just one stop away from Centraal Station via tram, with the trams running every 10 minutes or less. The hotel also offers a shuttle bus to Centraal station if booked through the hotel.

Customer service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The only thing to bear in mind would be that your City Tax is taken upon your check out and the hotel request €50 per night as a deposit to be paid on arrival.

Impressive Hotel. Staff were very welcoming, room was a great size, comfortable and I noticed it had immaculate decoration, no marks on walls or scuffs so well maintained. Breakfast was expensive at €25 so we didn’t eat in the Hotel. Please be aware that this Hotel is not in the centre as such, it’s just beyond the Central train station on the waterfront. It takes about 15 minuets to walk into the old town area of Amsterdam. Probably lovely on a warm day or night but cold in December! The Hotel does have a free shuttle bus which departs on the hour. Book this via reception. This only takes you to the Station. It will pick you up from the station if you call them but this service is only available until 5pm. Worth using as you’ll do a lot of walking around Amsterdam!

Stayed for 3 nights and is a really beautiful hotel. We were on our honeymoon and given a room with 2 single beds, Requested a double bed if possible and was upgraded to a nicer room with no fuss which we really appreciated

The room is extremely spacious, clean, and ours had an amazing view, it’s basically on the water

The only downside is it’s a bit of a hike to the hustle and bustle. We wanted to explore on foot, and during winter the 15 odd min walk to get to the start of the shops wasn’t ideal however didn’t kill us!! We wouldn’t discount our rating over the location as I’m sure lots of people would like this slightly quieter location

The bus / ferry station is just over 5min walk, and everything is even quicker if you want to hire a bike and travel that way.

Breakfast wasn’t included in the room, and although AMAZING spread it was very pricey at 25 euro per person

Stayed here for one night to celebrate our 10 years wedding anniversary. Despite the corona virus, we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the 19th floor and offered an amazing view over our beloved city. We parked the car in the nearby parking: "Parkeergarage IJ-oever Centrum" for just 15 EUR for 24 hours. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the city center, or you can take the tram that stops in front of the hotel an you will be there in a few minutes.

It's a big hotel but because of the corona virus the occupation was quite low, nevertheless the staff was amazing and very helpful.

Would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Amsterdam.

We stayed here for a weekend. Staff were unfailingly pleasant and efficient. Our room was spotless and quiet: it’s also an easy walk into Centraal Station, but served by a convenient tram stop too if you don’t fancy walking.

Everything was perfect

It was our first time in Amsterdam and we were off to a great start staying at the Movenpick Hotel from September 18-22, 2022 (5 nights).

From start to end, everything was perfect. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable as were the bed linens and pillows. The bathroom, everything was perfect there as well. The morning buffet restaurant was amazing and plenty of variety, hard to believe someone would complain about anything here. We had dinner at the restaurant two times during our stay, the service was top notch, the food was very good as was the wine. We enjoyed everything, the room, the hotel, the food and the service.

We also enjoyed the location, no more then a 10 min walk or less, by the water, to the train station and add a few minutes more and your right there in centre town. I’m so glad we stayed here.

This hotel is a stone throw away from the station and they offer a pick up drop off service when you arrive and depart. We hadn't called ahead so jumped in a taxi which cost EUR 20 so their service is well worth a call. The transfer from the airport via train cost EUR 5 and is quick and very straight forward so I wouldn't take a taxi. The hotel is beautiful the rooms are spacious with excellent views and the most comfy beds. The bar is very reasonable and the staff were all lovely we would definitely stay here again.

The möevenpick in Amsterdam is located on the pier just a little ways away from central station and the hubbub of that area. Partly catering to more of a business clientele, there is great service and the concierge is very helpful if you’re looking for recommendations. I also strongly recommend getting the room with breakfast because their spread is generous and delicious!

Stayed for 3 nights at the Mövenpick hotel. Easy to find with a 10 minute short walk from central station. We were able to walk to all main areas with ease with no need to use the tram. Brilliant location
Rooms lovely and spacious. We had a great view. Mini fridge, safe, hair dryer, bathroom accessories, iron board all included. Comfy beds. Rooms have great sound proofing from very thick heavy windows and doors.
Breakfast: Fantastic ! Excellent spread of everything you could possibly need and more.
Next to hotel was a small shop, subway with one other cafe no other restaurants near by.
Great hotel in ideal location

Ask the Movenpick staff. It does not appear to be very far as we walked by the Viking ships while walking to the Train Station. I suggest you stay away from Taxis

Dear Jan, Thank you for your inquiry on TripAdvisor. This is general information concerning the adaptor type E: : Type E is primarily used in France, Belgium, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Tunisia and Morocco. The plug itself is similar to the Type C (used in continental Europe, Russia, and much of Asia) except that it is round and has the addition of a "female" contact to accept a grounding pin in the socket. We are pleased to share with you: In the Netherlands (Holland) the power plug sockets are of type C and F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the frequency is 50 Hz. We hope this is helpful and look forward to welcome you in April 2024! Kind regards, Hotel Management
