The Movenpick chain is recognized for it's traditional 5* experience based on superior hospitality, great locations, helpfull staff and awesome food either for breakfast or in the room service. My room in a high floor had a privileged view of Amsterdam Centraal Station and the Docs. Would definitely comeback someday.
Booked a package deal with ba.com for flights and accommodation at the Movenpick. They offer a shuttle service from the main terminal to the hotel every hour which was handy as it is a bit of a windy walk down the canal to the Movenpick. Check in was relatively easy and room was nice and clean. On that day only might I add! Breakfast was good. Service was slightly lacking - very few staff around to clean tables and someone set fire to the toaster on day 1 and then no toaster was available thereafter. No pool and steam and sauna close at 10pm. Hop on hop off stop is outside the hotel which is handy. Upon return from out first day out we were highly disappointed to find that the room had not been serviced despite having the please clean room sign up. We queried this and it was dealt with an hour later. The next day we left early long before house keeping arrive and in the evening upon our return lo and behold yet again the room is dirty, the bin is full, the cups are dirty, the towels are not refreshed despite being left on the floor as requested by most hotel chains and the bed is unmade. Again this was queried and raised as a concern and we were told this would be passed on higher. Unfortunately for Movenpick they passed this on to some highly unprofessional so called manager called George who ended up arguing with me over petty stuff and then told me to get out of his hotel - as if he is Mr Movenpick himself(!) Upon our return I emailed head office directly and again to no avail...a few emails went back and forward and then Movenpick simply disappeared off the face of the earth! Surprising??? Hardly!!! If this is the standard of service you wish to provide your full paying guests...dirty rooms and unclean cups with argumentative so called managers, no thanks we shall not be returning!…
I visited the Mövenpick Amsterdam together with my girlfriend and I must say we absolutely had the best time! Upon arrival we felt safe with all the covid measures they took! The international staff was super friendly and helpful!!! Really thanks a lot guys! You made our stay! :-) The rooms are spacious and super clean! Everything you can think off is there! But sure you not gonna need your huge television if you can sit in front of the window and enjoy the view on the city! Breakfast was simply next level! Smoked salmon with avocado, baked eggs, bacon, fruit salad, yoghurt, fresh honey, sweets, ... They had it all and you could even ask for more! The location was perfect! 7 min walk to central station and 10 min to the city centre! Would highly recommend this place! Cheers Tom …
Stayed here for one night to celebrate our 10 years wedding anniversary. Despite the corona virus, we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the 19th floor and offered an amazing view over our beloved city. We parked the car in the nearby parking: "Parkeergarage IJ-oever Centrum" for just 15 EUR for 24 hours. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the city center, or you can take the tram that stops in front of the hotel an you will be there in a few minutes. It's a big hotel but because of the corona virus the occupation was quite low, nevertheless the staff was amazing and very helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Amsterdam.
The Moevenpick Hotel offers a great view over the old town and is convenient accessable by train,tram, ship and car. I arrive on a rainy morning and was please with the friendly welcome by the Fornt Office Manager Mr. John Caucian who went the extra mile to make me feel special. This is very rare these days in a big hotel. He explained the Corona meassures, gave me tips for the town and a arranged a dining table and took time explain the views from my room in the 18th floor and the use the gym. All in a very polite and charming way. Next morning I got a personal welcome from the Manager during my breakfast. This personal service make me feel very special. Together with the clean and comfi room and for sure makes me coming back next time. Well done - Top service, great rooms and a very good location.…
