Nice decor and plenty of lounging spaces. Breakfast was convenient and beautifully presented with both warm and cold options. Awesome automated coffee machine. Twin room was comfortable and clean. Front desk staff was fantastic help with every question I had. They made sure the shipping company got my luggage even before my check in time. I was traveling with my son and felt safe in this hotel and neighborhood. Would return.
Design led hotel, in a former tram shed, just outside the centre of town. Well located for the Museum Quarter, Vollenpark etc. Character building with quirky features. Watch out if you are planning to arrive using public transport: Kinkerstraat is dug up at the moment, so the No.17 tram is being diverted along Overtoom. Trams 3 & 13 run up Bilderdijkstraat, which is closer. Check-in was easy enough. Our room was smallish, but comfortable and well-appointed. It was very clean, had a TV with international channels, had a coffee machine, kettle, safe and hairdryer. Our window looked onto an internal corridor, which looked onto an external window. There was plenty of light and nobody seemed to use the corridor, so I wouldn't let that put you off. Rainfall shower was of an eco variety, so was very low pressure, but hand held shower will suffice for those who care less for the planet! Staff were friendly enough, however breakfast offering wasn't manged very well. Cleaning tables and restocking of food was a bit haphazard. Our experience was that food offering will be better if you go early. Breakfast 7-11…
Very clean and modern accomodations in a cool neighrborhood (Sud Ouest). Bed was very comfortable, lots of well designed space for your things, and the bathroom was amazing, with a soaking tub and a shower. The staff was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. The hotel is next door to "Hallen" a complex of food court, art and film happenings.
Very good localization , near to restaurants , public transport and supermarkets. It’s possible to reach the main tourist spots on foot or by tram. The breakfast could offer more variety of fruits but you’ll enjoy very good breads and croissants, jams, yogurts, and scrambled eggs. You also can order waffles or Dutch pancakes. Friendly staff. We loved the hotel decoration
19 April 22. Took Tram 13 from Central Station & alighted at Willem de Zwijgerlaan stop. Maybe 10 minutes to walk there. Bought tram ticket on board at rear of tram EOR2.90 which was valid for 1 hour. Good friendly welcome at Hotel desk & quick access to our dble room. Room had all the facilities we needed. Simple lay out. Separate shower & WC areas. Very comfortable bed. Room quiet. Quirky comfortable lounge area with plenty of sofas & chairs to spend some time planning. Helpful front desk with bar / drinks to the left. Restaurant area to right which we didn't use as breakfast was EUR18. Much cheaper to use bakery / cafe locally. Plenty of outside tables to sit on warm day. FoodHallen (also part of converted tram depot - great re-purposing) is next door which at time of writing opened 11.00 /23.30. Great choice of food counters albeit a little pricey but you go there to satisfy multiple dietary menu requirements at the same time. Plenty of local restaurants around hotel / 15 minutes walking distance. Quite a safe area to walk it felt. Albert Heijn quite close to Hotel for top ups. Would stay there again. Great find but would be nice for a bit more of Hotel atmosphere in the public areas but we are coming out of strange times.…
Lovely, modern, hip, comfortable small hotel which was an ideal home base for our weeklong trip to visit our daughter who lives here. Rooms have very comfy coco mat beds, and plenty of amenities, Their 24 hr staff led by Joyce during our stay were wonderfully responsive to all requests and inquiries. We were out & about a lot but liked their buffet breakfast and had a very good spontaneous dinner at Remise 47 on-site when everything else was closed on Easter Sunday. Rooms are very clean & thoughtfully appointed, with mini fridge, safe, great bathroom & green electricity policy. Excellent covid protocols throughout. We walked nearly everywhere in the neighborhood (Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum & Van Gogh Museum, canal tours, noordemmarket) or took trams, and our Uber to the airport took less than 20 minutes We warmly recommend and would stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!…
We were very happy with our stay at De Hallen. Its centrally located so it is possible to walk to all the tourist attractions. The rooms have a slightly different solution than usual, with some windows facing inwards. The rooms were clean and the interior was very stylish! The only downside is that the toilet was not totally separated from the rest of the hotel room.
We loved our time in this hotel. It has a modern design and the rooms were very clean. The beds were very comfortable so we slept very well. It is located in the Hallen warehouse area where the hotel shares the same building as the food hall just next door which was very convenient for eating. The whole building used to be where they fixed the old trams. I believe that the exterior architecture has to be untouched, so the hotel came up with innovative ideas to get around this. It also means the rooms do not have windows that give directly to the exterior. The hotel also rents bicycles which we used for 10€ per day. It only takes less than 10 minutes to cycle into the city center. We really loved this hotel and all the staff were extremely kind, polite and professional. I will definitely come here again.…
Comfortable hotel in a nice part of Amsterdam, close to the city center. We enjoyed an upgrade, the room was very quiet with everything you need, coffee and tea maker, excellent bedding and large bathroom. Breakfast is varied, you can order eggs, waffles and pancakes. Staff is very professional and friendly. Bar is good too. Delicious gintonics! We enjoyed our stay very much.
This needs to be made clear: none of their rooms, with the exception of a few junior suites, have windows that would open to the outdoors, if they could be opened. The rooms listed as having a “view” actually look onto a long, odd, brightly lit hallway. One side of this hallway is a nearly floor to ceiling window to the outside - the other is the floor to ceiling window to your hotel room. Essentially, you are looking at a hallway that has a window to the outside. During the day, sure, you could say the room has a “view”, but once it is dark, all you see out your window is a brightly lit hallway. During the day, people walking outside get a full view of your room, floor to ceiling, like you are an animal in the zoo. You need to keep your drapes drawn during the day for privacy and at night, because the light in the hallway never goes out and shines into your room. If I had known this before I booked, I never would have chosen this hotel. That said, the front desk staff were very accommodating and nice. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was nice, it was good to have a mini fridge in the room, and there were a lot of channels on the TV. If it had a window to the actual outside, I would have said it was a great room. The lobby is really nice and I would have liked to hang out on their couches (there’s even an assortment of books) if I hadn’t been staying during lock-down. They have bikes to rent and a bar and a restaurant (sadly closed during my stay). I also love that you could go down into the Food Hall, steps away, to have a great selection of things to bring back to your room to eat. Location is good and there is a tram stop very close.…
