On this occasion though, only hand towels were in the room, so I mentioned this to reception to be told they had run out of big towels for the day. Very odd for a hotel to run out of towels - drying myself after a shower with a hand towel was interesting! Added to that, the drain was either blocked or slow draining as it flooded the room, I did mention this at checkout.
A little noisy during the night, people shouting in the corridor for a few minutes and housekeeping starting early. Nevertheless, as I have said in my previous reviews, the staff are pleasant and it's a very good location.
The breakfast was so lovely - delicious high quality foods, and amazing coffee machine we wanted to take home with us, and above all a really caring breakfast staff who were attentive and helpful.
It’s a great hotel and we’ll definitely consider staying there or other properties in the future.
We dropped our luggage at the desk upon checkout and when we picked them up later during the day at 3pm, the receptionist was not nice at all, really rude because we could not find one of our luggage tags.
We were given room 4 which was in the basement. It was quite a strange set up for the room - but what you need to remember is that it is a hotel in an old Amsterdam building, so there was a pillar in the middle of the room, however, the TV was mounted on to that and the bed was between the pillar and the wall, so everything fitted in nicely.
Because of Covid, breakfast is not served in the restaurant at the moment and you have to fill in a form as to what time you would like breakfast and if you would like tea or coffee. We did this, however on the first morning, my husband received tea instead of the coffee he asked for, so we reminded reception of our choices for the next morning. The breakfast is plentiful, bread rolls, mini croissants, juice, eggs and fruit.
Although our room was next to the lift, we did not hear this at all, however, it was also next to a staircase and we could hear the staff going up and down the stairs early in the morning to deliver the breakfasts.
We have already booked a room here again hopefully for October - all being well with the ongoing situation. I have made a point of requesting a normal room instead of in the basement for next time.
A great stay that is just out of the liveliness of the city, but not too far away.
