Welcome to your charming Amsterdam Canal House Suite getaway. We are situated in a lively area of Old-South at the Schinkel Canal on the top floor of our lovingly restored canal-side house. The area is a real taste of local Amsterdam but within 10-20 minutes you are in the center or at the museums square. The Suite itself is bright, spacious and prettily decorated (changing with the seasons), with wide canals views at the front and French doors leading to the balcony overlooking the inner gardens in the back. A large living room area with a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and cozy relaxation area with smart TV offer freedom and comfort when you are not on the move. With the bedroom with a king-size bed and the option of 1-2 extra beds the Canal Suite is perfect for families, small groups of friends or a romantic getaway - special arrangements for two guests are available! Personal service, daily housekeeping and quality recommendations are always included, different breakfast options are optional. Also enjoy the complimentary tea making facilities & Nespresso machine, free cereals & milk and the other small touches we are known for. We want you to have a wonderful time here.

If I could give six stars, I would
We have been staying at this bed and breakfast for at least 15 years. Due to frequent business trip and occasional personal trips to Amsterdam, it has been wonderful to find a "home away from home." The location is excellent with both easy access to parking (as I need a rental car for the visits), to key highways and streets, and to public transportation. The rooms are spotless, the breakfast alternatives work well for I often need to leave very early in the morning, and the hosts are very helpful without being obtrusive. On the same street and same side of the canal are good restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, etc. in a very safe neighborhood. Just a block from Vondelpark, it also is good for walking or bicycle rental nearby. It is a gem of a place to stay.
Hi Dean, again, thank you so much for this raving review! see you next time you visit our lovely city! Paul and Karen

Wonderful B&B and a fantastic stay
I cannot recommend this B&B highly enough. It is situated in a fantastic location near the Vondelpark and has 2 great places to eat within very short walking distance, 1 virtually next door. Very attentive and friendly hosts and we enjoyed all the luxuries from complimentary freshly baked cakes and biscuits to the stamped postcard they left on the table for us to send if we wished. 5 star!! Will be coming back.
Dear Niklaas and Millie....... again, it was a pleasure having you stay and so happy you had a good time! Cheers! Paul and Karen

    The perfect stay in Amsterdam
My fiancé and I stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed every second. The location was perfect for us. A lively but cute area and right next to a canal and Vondelpark. Several (good!) restaurants/bars close by and just a quick bike or tram ride to get to the museums or the center (we rented bikes but the tram stop was closeby). We loved the warm welcome by Paul who showed us the suite on the top floor and was incredibly helpful and friendly. The suite itself is very comfortable and clean with large kitchen / living room area and balcony in the back. Unique: Stunning views of the canal and active bridge from the bedroom window, from there we also saw a grey heron on 3 mornings either sitting on the balcony below us or roaming on the sidewalk! Working in the hospitality industry ourselves, we also appreciated the easy communication prior our stay and the small touches like a welcome tray, recommendations book or treats like the homemade black currant gin. We did not expect any of this and felt like VIPs. Thank you for the truly special time, Paul, Karen and heron. We will be back!
Hi Guys, thank you sooo much for the wonderful review! We loved having you stay in our little piece of lovely Amsterdam. Warm regards from Paul, Karen and Harry (the heron)

I cannot rave enough about my stay at Bed and Breakfast Amsterdam. This room was amazing and delivered all that the description had of it. This was by far the most romantic room I have stayed in. Fine attention to thoughtful detail coupled with some little extras I did not expect was just the beginning. The hosts were available for any questions and offered up suggestions that I was greatly appreciative of. There is a book in the room that gives you a breakdown of all of the must see places while there that came in very handy. I felt I really was able to maximize my time there with the book helping me to be sure I hit the must see item! I am planning another trip to Amsterdam and will most certainly be staying at Bed and Breakfast Amsterdam again.

The best and most comfortable stay of our trip. Professional, thoughtful, and welcoming. Paul was incredibly nice and informative. The breakfast and snacks were all delicious. The small details throughout this stay were much appreciated and made us feel like a priority. It is right next to Vondelpark, and a nice walk to the city center. Plenty of restaurants, quick service, laundry, and grocery nearby. Thanks so much Paul & Karen!

Our stay at Bed and Breakfast Amsterdam could not have been any better. We had the upstairs family flat for our group of 5 friends and it was perfect. We loved the canal view, neighborhood stores, bakeries, restaurants and location. We added the “fridge fill” so we were able to make our own breakfasts each morning. When we came home from a long day of touring, it was nice to find some yummy treats left for us. We also took advantage of the canal tour on the owner, Paul’s boat. The tour, info, and snacks and drinks on board made it a delightful experience. The only hesitation we had was the steep stairs up to our unit, but the owner carried our bags and none of our group-all 70 years old!- had any trouble with them.

We absolutely loved our stay at Paul & Karen’s place. We were in the Garden Suite and it was lovely. I’m quite sure they thought of everything, including little touches like a pre-stamped postcard to send to loved ones at home, complimentary blackcurrant gin, little cupcakes in the kitchen in the afternoon, and anything else you could possibly need. They even gave us free passes to the Van Gogh museum, which allow entry even on sold-out days. The location is very nice; easily reachable by tram but in a quieter part of town. Only a 12 minute drive to the airport. Overall, 10/10 and would absolutely stay here again!

Absolute perfect with so many nice and cute little touches which are appreciated. From a few days before I called to check all is good and we can drop luggage off early ( and we could) to last minutes in person goodbye. Arrived in morning and Karen welcomes us when we dropped off luggage. Walking distance into centre, tram is also very easy. Lovely walk though the park. Nice to be near but could get away a bit in the evening. Nice to just walk around and relax. Loads of different restaurants around. Low to high prices. We stayed in one night and cooked. Supermarket about 200m away. Kitchen is simple but enough to make a simple meal. Also a HEMA shop a further 100m away in case you need any other daily essential. Nice little cakes in the afternoon to welcome us from a long day of walking. No complaints at all. Will definitely return and recommend.

Paul and Karen are spectacular hosts...they left us with Dutch treats each day. The space, bedding and towels were very clean. The area was walkable and had everything you might want. This accommodation may be difficult for people with mobility issues due to upper staircase. There didn't seem to be an outlet in bathroom for hair dryers, etc. Overall, we very much enjoyed staying at B&B Amsterdam.

Paul & Karen's place was an AMAZING place to stay in Amsterdam! It was right on the canal, and I loved feeling like I was living in a space that was true to the local style. The rooms were all clean & stocked with everything you could possibly need! We added on the breakfast fridge fill and a canal tour, and both were great choices. Paul & Karen went above and beyond - Paul accommodated the boat ride so that we could ALL attend (even though 2 of us had commitments that originally would have interfered), and Karen made such yummy snacks. They gave recommendations for anything & everything we could possibly need - we never felt lost whatsoever. Truly, this was one of the best (if not THE best) place I have ever stayed, and I would love to stay again one day!

My best friend and travel partner found Bed and Breakfast Amsterdam through her fandom of Rick Steves. We had a gorgeous time in Amsterdam for the first time, living like locals. For our convenience, our host, Paul, supplied us with a tram pass, a pass to the Van Gogh Museum, scheduled us a personal boat tour through the canals and our refrigerator was stocked with basics (for additional costs, but well worth it! It was one-stop shopping). He and Karen made sure that the well-lit and well-equipped apartment always had fresh pastries and candies for us. Upon arrival, at an early 8 a.m. on Sunday, Paul helped us figure out the city sights, the ease of the tram and the proximity of everything we needed for a half-month stay. We had an incredible time, sleeping in on a few days and preparing breakfast at a leisurely pace. Beautiful canal and garden views helped us feel at home. We hated to leave.

Paul and Karen are great hosts! We were traveling with another couple and really enjoyed our stay at this spacious B & B. They answered many questions via email before we ever got there and provided an amazing guidebook that was very helpful. The apartment was clean and spacious. You are right next door to an awesome restaurant, grocery, bakery and across from a canal. We loved the location and had easy access to everything we wanted to do. My husband and I stayed in the area off the living room. Paul put up a curtain and we felt we had ample privacy. I used the ironing board to put my suitcase on, so maybe having a luggage rack would have been nice. :) The balcony was also nice, and we enjoyed a few cocktails out there over looking rooftops and gardens. Paul and Karen had delicious currant gin waiting for us and left us some goodies everyday (different types of sweets). Paul took time with us to explain the city, public transportation and even let us use his tram cards (we just added money at the end of our stay). This made everything so very convenient and less stressful. They were delightful hosts and if I ever get back to Amsterdam I would stay here again. We even had drinks and appetizers at the local restaurant with them one night and had a blast! I really liked the location and being a little out from the city center. I would highly recommend staying here to others. We also booked a canal boat trip with Paul. It was very nice and private. He supplied drinks and snacks and we just sat back and enjoyed. We were sad to leave. Thank you Paul and Karen for making our trip to Amsterdam so special! Cindy (John, Kathy and Sam too!)
