My two friends and I loved staying at The Collector B&B! Collections began with walking sticks as you entered, wooden shoes up the stairs, clocks and shoes in my room. The bedrooms are spacious and tiled bathrooms are well-appointed. A shared kitchen, well-stocked with everything you could want for breakfast and lunch including fresh eggs, made this seem like our...

Stayed four nights here in August. It was a very comfortable stay. The room was clean and large with a king size bed. Excellent value for the price. We also had a little balcony which was very nice. The bathroom was excellent. The owner had a stock of incidentals that a traveller might need, which was very useful. It was...

What to say that hasn't already been mentioned? This place is the best we've stayed at in Amsterdam (after multiple visits in the last 10 years). Beautifully decorated, spacious, clean, comfy beds, great shower, beautiful well-stocked kitchen, tram 16 stops right outside and carries you right to the centre. Karel is a friendly and helpful yet unobtrusive host. The Oud...

This is the second time I visited "the Collector" and I was not disappointed. Karel and his assistant are wonderful people who will do everything to make you feel at home in the wonderful big room with balcony I received at my disposal. There were flowers and a plate of fruit waiting for my and after a couple of days...

Staying at this amazing Bed and Breakfast for a second time felt like coming home. The location is right in the middle of the city, a five-minute walk from Museum Square with grocery stores, the beautiful grassy Vondelpark, and tram stops all within a stone’s throw. The owner, Karel, is a font of helpful tips and insider knowledge. He peppers...

We have just spent a lovely weekend in Amsterdam and booked to stay in the Collector B & B. This is an excellent place to stay, very central. Our host was extremely helpful and kind. Our room was great - very light and airy with an extremely comfortable bed and good bathroom with shower. Even though it is situated on...

From the outside, The Collector B&B looked clean and comfortable and inviting. The well-tended red geraniums in the spotless windows offered a cheerful contrast to the seasoned brick of the century-old town house, and the collection of walking sticks in the vestibule hinted at the homey warmth we experienced throughout our 3-day stay. With the 16 tram just outside the...

We had the room on the first floor (ground floor = the street level) overlooking the main street. It was a very clean spacious room. The beds were comfortable. The en suite bathroom has a shower, water pressure was excellent, and towels were changed daily. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. It is a do it yourself breakfast, but...

walk to every major museum from this well run B+B--perfectly located in an upscale neighborhood and blocks from the museums. The tram to the Central train station is right outside your door, too. Karel and Fauzon are your hosts. The two rooms are located at the top of a narrow winding staircase. We stayed in the Clock Room--large, airy, clean,...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
