This is a very cool, quirky and architecturally interesting hotel in Amsterdam. It is a 'concept' hotel, having been the worlds first 1-5 star accomodation and having been installed in the former Amsterdam prison. The rooms were a bizzare mix between a former block asylum and designer furnishings store. The building itself being in art deco moderne style. There were...

One of my all-time favorite hotels. The most interesting building renovation I've every seen. Very nice staff. Beatiful restaurant -- great place to relax. Great food. In an interesting, up-and-coming part of the city. Take the chance.

This hotel is not a hotel for people who prefer standardized modern hotels without soul. This is a very charming hotel with lots of soul, cool rough interior design solutions and service-minded and friendly staff. We felt like being at home. We stayed in a very big 5-star room that was worth every Euro. The restaurant had extremely friendly straff...

Service was terrible. Stayed in a 3 star room. Shabby - towels with holes in, toiletries very poor. Would not stay here or recommend. Despite being told they had bikes to hire, not once during our three night stay were they available.

a friend and myself stayed in the hotel over the weekend for a brief visit. the hotel reception was very friendly and helpful, the restaurant equally very good - for the breakfast and tasty coffees. i really enjoyed being in a hotel which was occupying a building with history, done up in an aesthetically lovely way - light and airy...

This break leant me towards relaxation and, happily, the Lloyd offered the best bed ever. The idiosyncrasies were smugly enjoyable but the bedlinen (in my unexpected, much appreciated upgrade to 3*) added bliss. No wonder they sell the stuff in their restaurant/shop! Highly recommended on many fronts.

The hotel is about one kilometre east of the central station, and while walkable at a pinch, is just three stops and five minutes on the 26 tram to Reitland Park, about 50m from the hotel. (The number 10 circular route also stops there). The area is quite trendy dockside residential, with some arty offices, and the Muziekgebouw and Bimhuis...

Neighborhood Profile
Eastern Docklands (Oostelijk Havengebied)
A visit to Amsterdam’s Eastern Docklands presents the opportunity to marvel at its many modern architectural masterpieces like the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam and the beguiling Python Bridge while taking in its scenic waterfront with its trendy assortment of cafés, restaurants, bars, and clubs. Here in this post-industrial (though in some parts still very much presently industrial) neighborhood, you’ll find a smart selection of cool galleries and shops as well as the kid-friendly Science Center NEMO and the National Maritime Museum.
