We had a three night stay at the Hotel Aalborg. The room was very small and basic but adequate. The hotel is in a very "hip" part of town which we loved. Restaurants, cafes and markets are close by. Transport into the city was easy with the tram stop only 5 minutes walk away. The staff were very friendly and... More

The check in was smooth and easy. The staff were super friendly as no ask was ever too big an ask.Our room was exactly what we were expecting for the money. Small yet functional. Our aim was not to book a fancy hotel as we never intended to spend a prolonged period of time there as we only wanted a... More

We stayed at this hotel for our weekend in Amsterdam and we were very impressed. The hotel is easily accessible via public transport and is located in a nice and quiet area of the City. We received a very warm welcome from the receptionist, who we had several long conversations with. She was very helpful. The beds were very comfortable... More

The hotel rooms are very very small and the bathroom is even smaller. We didn't have space to fit 2 suitcases in the room. I felt like I am in the doll house. The location is good, it is a about 20 min walk to downtown but you pass by very nice places. Also it is next to a big... More

The hotel has extremely thing walls and floors and very noisy guests, at least when we stayed there. We were unable to sleep because of continuous noises from all sides. People above us walking, next room neighbors talking and even folks from other floors walking up and down the stairs. Having a good night's sleep is paramount to me and... More

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while we were in Amsterdam. The easy and cheap bike rentals alone made it worth every penny, but the awesome staff set it above the rest (especially my man Pedro!!). Plus there's a 24 hour bar in the lobby. Need I say more?

This about the tenth time I've visited amsterdam and in comparison to my other lodgings, this cute little hotel is definitely the most charming. I'm no gamer but it is certainly impressive you can take any comic you wish to read, order and play vintage games on old consoles and relax in the 24/7 bar. The room was teeny weeny... More

We arrived at the Aalborg and got a nice room on the ground floor . All the local restaurants are close to the hotel with a park across the road. Getting about in amsterdam is easy on the trams. The staff at the hotel where excellent, my wife badly sprained her ankle and the offered her all sorts of help.we... More

My husband and I stayed here during our trip to Amsterdam. Both the male staff members we came across were extremely nice and happy to engage in conversation every time we entered or exited the hotel. The room it self (floor 4) was tiny and the bathroom had a step up that you needed to be mindful of. The shower... More

Staying in De Pijp

Neighborhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
