The hotel has extremely thing walls and floors and very noisy guests, at least when we stayed there. We were unable to sleep because of continuous noises from all sides. People above us walking, next room neighbors talking and even folks from other floors walking up and down the stairs. Having a good night's sleep is paramount to me and... More

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while we were in Amsterdam. The easy and cheap bike rentals alone made it worth every penny, but the awesome staff set it above the rest (especially my man Pedro!!). Plus there's a 24 hour bar in the lobby. Need I say more?

This about the tenth time I've visited amsterdam and in comparison to my other lodgings, this cute little hotel is definitely the most charming. I'm no gamer but it is certainly impressive you can take any comic you wish to read, order and play vintage games on old consoles and relax in the 24/7 bar. The room was teeny weeny... More

We arrived at the Aalborg and got a nice room on the ground floor . All the local restaurants are close to the hotel with a park across the road. Getting about in amsterdam is easy on the trams. The staff at the hotel where excellent, my wife badly sprained her ankle and the offered her all sorts of help.we... More

My husband and I stayed here during our trip to Amsterdam. Both the male staff members we came across were extremely nice and happy to engage in conversation every time we entered or exited the hotel. The room it self (floor 4) was tiny and the bathroom had a step up that you needed to be mindful of. The shower... More

Hotel lobby, even small, has been recently renewed; its backyard is amazing and relaxing. Breakfast has improved since last year. You can book breakfast the day before saving 3€ (paying then 9€). Staff is very kind. Area is excellent, just by The Pijp. Rooms are tiny and clean. 15 min walk from RAI Exhibition.

We were getting a bit desperate as Amsterdam is always highly in demand for accommodation and we had left it a bit late. The only options my extensive searches were turning up were 2* backpacker hostels or the odd 3* charging in excess of 400 euros per night!!!! I was about to scrap the whole idea, when presumably this place... More

Completely fine accommodation. Clean rooms. Friendly helpful staff. You wouldn't want to spend much more than your sleeping hours here, but why would you do anymore than that anyway. We found is slightly hard to find, but this was probably down to the fact that we were new to the city and every time we got lost we slid into... More

The hotel is clean, the staff is helpful. The rooms are small, with weak Wi-Fi signal, the windows do not open, but the ceililng lamp in my room had a fan. Bathrooms are clean and large in comparison with rooms. I recommend this hotel for a low budget travel.

I love writing reviews about unknown hotels. However, this hotel isnt really "new" it has just made it self more "fresh". Hotel Aalborg is now known as the Arcade. For the better in my opinion. When you enter The Arcade you will see the minimalistic design in black combined with the a living room you could imagine from the 80's.... More

Staying in De Pijp

Neighborhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
