I never actually stayed here, but received great customer service. Basically I booked this accommodation for my parents as part of a Christmas present, but last minute unforeseen circumstances meant they couldn't stay (a mix up with dates) I resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't get any money back with it being a non refundable room and a... We really enjoyed our stay at Misc East Sleep Drink. The location was convenient to the train station, to public transport, and to pubs and restaurants. The breakfast was good--best bread we had in Europe--and the hosts were helpful in recommending restaurants and in solving a train departure issue. Our room was quirky and very comfortable. I only hesitate to... More

Were nice small Hotel in the heart of Amsterdam! Nice staff and great breakfast. We had a very good stay. We got good tipps about where to eat and go from the Manager. Nice time we will stay there again.

The eatdrinksleep is a small 6-room hotel in a renovated 17th century canal house. We had a room on the third floor canal side, and it was larger than we expected. Be warned, the stairs are an adventure. They are very narrow and steep. This could be an issue for some travelers. The wifi was good, and the room had... More

It was a beatiful room right on the canal. Location was perfect and staff was very helpful. Breakfast in the morning was a treat. The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars were the stairs. My wife had a difficult time going up and down them, but they did add character to the whole building.

I like to avoid the big hotels, so I was drawn to misc... Location is awesome. Had a canal (and therefore also street) view room which we were afraid would be loud, but with the windows closed, not at all. We were in the Rembrandt Room on the second floor. Think I might have died if we were on the... More

This was a really great little bed and breakfast with eclectic decor, wonderful breakfast, centrally located which was both good and bad. I gave it only 4 stars only because it was very close to an area crowded with party going loud people. Also be forewarned you may have to walk up three steep flights of stairs but that's a... More

I booked this little gem after reading all the wonderful reviews on trip advisor and was not disappointed in any way. Before we'd even arrived we'd been given helpful advice on where to park and how to find them. We parked close to the main train station and it was an easy, pleasant walk to the hotel. The room was... More

I think this is the fifth time we have stayed here, and it is still pretty much perfect. Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Amsterdam (well, perhaps if I was a billionaire I might stay somewhere else, but I doubt they would let me have breakfast at midday). Many thanks Pepijn, sorry we missed you Rachel.

Stayed in a number of hotels in Amsterdam over the years, but this is my new favourite. A small, friendly hotel in a converted traditional Amsterdam town house. Rooms are a little small, but the character and friendliness of the staff more than makes up for this. Location is excellent with plenty of coffee shops and bars right outside the... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
