Loved everything about this place. A proper Boutique style hotel. We had a quirky room overlooking one of the canals. Great bed, decent shower and a room big enough for three chairs. Fantastic breakfast prepared and cooked on order. Staff brilliant, helpful and fun. Highly recommended for a great stay in the heart of a brilliant and fun city. Everything is within a 10 -15 minute walk.
A somewhat 'older style' place but very cozy and colorful. I recommend having a cocktail in der bar. The guys in the bar are skillful and reliable. Just relax and describe the flavour of your unforgettable cocktail. They won't disappoint you.
We could not travel to Amsterdam for our trip and we are delighted with the customer service under these circumstances. Staff worked to help make us very happy. We hope to visit Amsterdam and stay here in the future!
We booked this small hotel on the strength of the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. We arrived wet and cold after walking the 10 mins from the Railway Station (a bit longer than 10mins with the road being configured outside the Station at the time). Our luggage was taken up the difficult narrow winding stairs to the first floor where we were booked in the Canal Facing Room which was comfortable and large with a great view. I had requested a lower floor as we are probably older than the usual clientele and we didn't want to have to navigate too many of the stairs. We settled in and enjoyed the complimentary drinks & snacks from the mini-bar while admiring the Canal View - 2 small bottles of Prosecco, beers, crisps, bars of chocolate, juices, coke etc. - very nice! There was a Nespresso type Coffee Machine in the room aswell. My husband also enjoyed the 'mood music' box with sounds of the sea etc. We slept well in the very comfortable bed and despite being on the Canal we were only woken once by some men shouting at 4am from a bench outside. They do supply ear plugs if you want to use them though. We enjoyed our breakfasts served downstairs in the Cocktail Bar area - there is a small buffet selection of a bowl of fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bread, jams but coffee, juice and tasty bacon, cheeses and scrambled eggs are served to you. We soaked up the atmosphere of Amsterdam in the daytime with a canal cruise and a visit to the Anne Frank House which I had booked online in advance to make sure we had tickets. Everything was in walking distance. We dined in local restaurants/bars from Tripadvisor which were fine for what we wanted. The Red Light District was literally one small street away so we saw plenty of that aswell on our many strolls around the canal streets. The whole area around was buzzing with tourists and the bars were packed out most of the time. On arriving back in the evenings we had a complimentary drink in the busy Cocktail bar which is obviously very popular. As we had an afternoon flight on our last day they stored the luggage for us and agreed a time that we could come back and pick it up before heading for the airport. We thoroughly enjoyed this quirky litte place which was a very different experience from staying in your standard hotel. Young couples or those 'young at heart' will enjoy this boutique hotel even though it is more expensive than your usual hotel. Watch the stairs though - they could be lethal after a few beers and cocktails! I do have photos but wil post those another time.…
Enjoyed my stay with a view of the canal. Incredible location within walking distance of Central Train Station, Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank Huis. Rachel and Pipijn were super helpful. Wouter is THE master bartender and cool guy. Room was very nicely done. I enjoyed Gabriel's breakfasts a lot and kept me going until dinner. Like most of Amsterdam, be ready for steep stairs. I'll be going back.
Great hotel, fantastic breakfast, friendly staff/owner, great location. I can highly recomend this small hotel in the city of Amsterdam. A ten minutes walk from central station. They have a small bar with a lot of cocktails based on genever. I will come back for sure.
My husband and I had the best time at this cute, quirky, comfy B&B in the heart of Amsterdam. The rooms are wonderfully appointed, and the breakfast to die for! The breakfast area turns into a hip bar at night, with delicious signature drinks. Rachel and Pepijn were the most amazing hosts — attentive to every detail. Walking distance to all Amsterdam sites. Recommended for a romantic couple’s trip. Not advised if you have trouble going up narrow stairs. Will definitely visit again! Thank you for making our trip so memorable.
I stayed here with my two teenage children earlier this January and I could not recommend it enough! The location is FANTASTIC... the breakfast is great - the rooms are so unique .... but it’s the people that make it so special!!!! Skip the so called “hotels”- enjoy the spectacular views ... the unbelievably delicious unique cocktails ... and everything that Misc Eat Sleep reflects of beautiful Amsterdam. Pepijin and the entire staff- I can not thank you enough for a wonderful way to start 2020. So thankful to have had the chance to stay and look forward to returning.
I loved this place and the owners and workers. The quaint atmosphere was amazing and the location is superb. The staircase to the rooms is a little steep and precarious but that is to be expected in an old world location. I can't wait to return! Thank you for the wonderful memories!
Tiny, quirky hotel in a great location for exploring Amsterdam. The hotel is above a fabulous cocktail bar - totally unique in decor and choice of cocktails. Bar staff give great advice on best places to visit in Amsterdam - as well as best cocktails to suit your taste! The canal view room didn't disappoint - beautifully furnished with a two big windows on top floor. Room was a good size, bathroom pretty small - but great shower (just need a little patience for hot water to reach top floor!). Breakfast was just right - lots of options and freshly made. Oh - and watch the stairs - very narrow and steep staircase - but that adds to the quirkiness!
