I have just got back from three nights in Amsterdam staying at Peter Boorgaard's. There really isn't anything I can add to the comments already made, it truly is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. You will love everything about your stay, Peter is service personified! We will be back next year.

After reading other reviews for Boogaard's Bed and Breakfast, we contacted Peter via his website. There was availability for our party of four. He offered us a first floor (actually one flight up in Europe!) of two bedrooms, each with ensuite bath and a living/dining/kitchen. The price included breakfast, and we found out after arrival, laundry service! His home/b&b is...

We chose Boogaard's Bed and Breakfast based on the reviews in TripAdvisor and it did not let us down. This was the perfect place to stay in Amsterdam. Peter was the perfect host, eager to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed Amsterdam. Our lovely and comfortable room was next to a lounge which we shared with only one other...

Have just got back from Amsterdam and 3 glorious nights at Peter Boogaard's Bed and Breakfast. Peter is such an amazing host, always helpful with great advice on the best places in the City. We stayed in the Jack Russell room which had the most comfortable bed. Between our room and the Pug room is a lounge area which has...

We stayed at Boogard's for 4 nights over the weekend of the Amsterdam marathon (which we were participating in), and the B & B exceeded our best expectations. The directions provided by Peter were perfect and made for an easy walk from Centraal Station to the property which is located centrally but on a quiet side street, near the Jordaan...

My husband and I stayed here on the last leg of our short European trip. It was a very short walk from the train station and were so happy to see that the house was as lovely as the pictures. We had a room on the first (second) floor. I think we stayed in the Dalmation Room. The room was...

My husband and I loved Amsterdam and especially our stay in Boogaard's. It was an easy train ride and quick walk with our roller luggage to the B&B. We were able to leave our luggage to explore the city while we waited for our room. Luckily it was made available at 2pm which was very nice as we were tired...

We loved our stay at Boogard's. It was my fourth time in Amsterdam, and after several years with less than memorable budget accomodations, I was so pleased to have a more pleasurable experience. As all the rest have noted, Peter is the perfect host. You would think he was born to own a B&B, but he is actually a classically...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
