The College Hotel is a beautiful hotel. When you walk in you are taken with the design from both the outside and the inside. That said, the staff is a little inexperienced and therefore the service isn't the best. The rooms are very nice and the deep soaking tubs are really amazing. But the rooms are dark - so if...

The hotel seems a little out of town but this is actually in a really cool location; very near the main museums, away from the touristy centre and in the young, professional area of town so lots of great cafes, bars and nightlife. Hotel staff are trainees so they are a little less confident than you would expect of staff...

The building is beautiful and the atmosphere relaxing and calm. The hotel is easy to reach from the airport and the location is good, near to the Museumplein. The staff is excellent - I did not recognize students from the "real" hotel team. Unfortunately I got extremely ill during my stay in Amsterdam, so I spent most of the days...

This is a delightful hotel in a beautiful old brick building, with charming and helpful young staff. We were surprised to see the other reviews here complaining about the service, as we had no complaints at all. Our 2nd floor room could have done with more lighting, and we thought the breakfast at 25 euros was over-priced. Otherwise, we thoroughly...

Ive stayed in this hotel on many many occasions, it really is a beautiful building, in a reasonably good location near to the museums and the RAI conference centre. On this occasion, however, I visited the hotel for afternoon tea on Christmas day and decided not to stay here but stay at the Conservatorium hotel instead, which was a smart...

This was a return visit to the College Hotel, where I have stayed a few times in the past several years ago. Impressive building, well-located if you are planning to visit all the museums nearby. However, sorry to report that the service has declined from previous visits and the rooms and some public areas are looking very tired and are...

The hotel is near Museum Square. Out of the city centre, but close enough that you can walk to many places and take public transport if you like. The staff is really excellent, and they try to answer all your questions and make your that you enjoy your stay. However, the design/configuration of the hotel makes it a bit somber,...

Stayed here recently on a weekend trip. the hotel is in a lovely part of town, walking distance to Museum platz and central. the building is impressive but the decor is looking a bit tired and faded. It could do with a refurb in parts. The heating in the room is quite hot and dry. Woke up in the morning...

The College hotel is a tastefully restored building a little way out of the centre of the city but worth the short walk. Having visited in the winter, it felt cosy to see open fires burning in the lounge and bar rooms. The guest room we stayed in was comfortable and clean but very dimly lit. It was dark on...

I was recommended by a Dutch friend who lives in Amsterdam, so I reserved this hotel without a doubt. Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
