Good rooms, clean and spacious. Great value especially if booked in advance. Only 10 mins walk from two major party hubs. Many famous clubs of amsterdam are within walking distance, also heinekin exp. van gogh and reijkmuseum are a short walk from the hotel. Central station and red light are 30 mins walk and trams from central station have a stop... More

You couldn't want a better location. A short walk from all main transportation in Amsterdam including the 197 bus to Schipol Airport. We two 70+ year olds managed with our luggage in hand. An incidental plus is that taking the bus eliminates the problem of finding the correct platform and the stairs at the main train station that also offers... More

The staff was decent for most of the stay nothing really stands out. The bathroom was clean and bright. The court yard was my favorite part we relaxed there when we were out sight seeing which was a lot nicer than sitting in a hotel room. Overall it was about what I had expected.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights, we were very pleased with the hotel. The room was quite small but that didn't bother us too much, it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, when we arrived we were provided with a map of Amsterdam and the man at the... More

Like it seems with many other buildings in Amsterdam (due to building tax laws) this building is narrow and pokey with small rooms. It does however have a good size bathroom and practical layout. A small lift is a bonus for this type of building. It is only a couple of hundred metres from the canals, restaurants and entertainment. Trams... More

With a four-star TripAdvisor rating, I definitely expected more from this hotel. However, I will start with the positives. It's in a great location (next to the major museums), and we got the rooms at a rate very reasonable rate for Amsterdam. There are also one or two people who work behind the desk who were very nice and accommodating.... More

We stayed here with friends in rooms opposite each other. The rooms were basic but clean and warm (much needed as pretty cold when we were there). The staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived around 12 o'clock and were able to safely leave our bags to get some lunch in Leidseplein, where there is a lot of choice for... More

Alexander Hotel is very conveniently located near Leidseplein (for shopping and dining) and Museumplein (for the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh, Stedelijk and Concertgebouw). More importantly, it's just a stone throw from tram (Leidseplein) and bus stops that connects you to the rest of Amsterdam (trams 1,2 and 5 will take you to Centraal Station and vice versa). The hotel's staff are... More

Quite street in Museum quarter, old building with steep stairs. Room was surprisingly big for Amsterdam, with large comfortable bed, price was reasonable. Maybe just a couple of disadvantages: a very tiny wardrobe (with strange smell inside) and missing mini-bar.
