There are some good things, and some not so good things. First off, I'll start with the service - it was excellent. Truly lovely people working there in all areas. The staff at the front desk were all truly wonderful. The room is ok. Except....... well...... it wasn't a real double bed. It was two twin beds pushed together -... More

Just got back from a 4 day trip to Amsterdam, this hotel is amazing! The staff are so friendly & helpful, nothing is too much trouble! The rooms are very quirky and the beds are so comfortable! If you're looking for luxury this is the place! I wouldn't even contemplate staying anywhere else only next visit!

Absolutely gorgeous hotel - which I only discovered on my 5th trip to this wonderful city! So wish I had discovered this earlier as the interiors are lush, the service exceptional and the food in the restaurant downstairs is to die for! Well done V & V for creating such exceptional spaces. We loved the interiors of our room so... More

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel on a very quick trip to Amsterdam. The location was fabulous! close to transportation and close to sights. Many of the walking tours start just down the street. The hotel was clean and comfortable and sort of that 'boutique hip'. Rooms were basic but clean and very comfortable bed. The staff here are... More

Great Location, Staff were very friendly. Ate Dinner at the restaurant one night. It was excellent. Rooms are a bit small, but generally that is Amsterdam. Would Highly Recommend . Bathroom, and Showers were excellent .

The location of the hotel was great, you could walk to a lot of the main attractions. Hop on hop off bus was only 15 minutes away from the 1st stop. Get the ticket which included the canal cruise as that is really good. The rooms are very different with all quirky fittings. The only thing we didn't like was... More

We stayed here in 2014 on a business trip and went back out of love for the city. Without question, I wanted to stay here again and I was so happy I did. We had booked a superior room but it was tiny; they managed to find a bigger one even though the suites were all booked. The food at... More

We stayed in the weekend of 14th May for 3 nights (3 adults) and loved the hotel. I was a bit apprehensive at first as I had my mother with me as I have read in the reviews that the hotel is minimalistic and has quiet a 'youngish' atmosphere. However that apprehension was quickly faded once in the hotel. The... More

This is the optimal location for a hotel in Amsterdam - everything is in walking distance and yet the hotel is on a quiet street. The rooms are relatively big, very modern and have a lot of style. The bathroom is spacious and clean. Good service - informal and friendly. There is no view. the main problem is a lack... More

My family (2 adults plus 20 y.o. son) stayed at the Hotel V Nesplein and have had a wonderful stay. The hotel is centrally located about 2 mins from Dam Square and a 10-15 minute walk from the train station. The hotel staff have been very helpful with dinner suggestions and taxi reservations. We had a cot for our son... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
