We stayed here and couldn't be happier! Excellent location, large and clean room, great service and the restaurant had some of the best food we had during our trip! Great place to stay! If you are looking for a great vacation stay this is the place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at the "Hotel V" -- just steps from Dam Square and within walking distance of virtually everything a tourist would want to experience. We found the hotel staff exceptionally friendly, cheerful and helpful. The room was clean, the washroom spacious, the wifi reliable, and the beds very comfortable. The Lobby Restaurant was totally full... More

All areas full of character sometimes to its detriment (dark stairwell), but such a change from the normal. Receptionist was absolutely brilliant, booked us tickets and was full of ideas based on what we wanted to do. Breakfast was slow, but good quality, shame all the different courses all came together! Room was large and dark but spotless and except... More

My wife and I stayed here during peak season so the price point was not reflective of the accommodation/facilities one would expect paying ~€400 per night including taxes for a "suite" room. Having said this the hotel is nicely located with decent size rooms and nice beds, rooms are dark and lacking that welcoming vibe. If you do decide to... More

We had 2 rooms for a family of five. Plenty of space, modern decor, big rooms and bathrooms and very clean. We will be back. Restaurant and staff were top notch. Excellent location in the heart of Amsterdam.

Everything was great, we had a simple classy room got a great vibe from it specially out toilet. I didn't give it 5 stars cuz it was pricy maybe cuz we came during the high season. Nice Resturants down stairs. Close to shopping areas, dam square and red light district.

It was our second visit to Hotel V Nesplein. It's in a great location near to Dam Square but down a quiet side street. We asked for a room at the back of the hotel on both visits and this was recognised however I also ask for top floor and have never been given this - always been on the... More

The hotel is close to dam square and just down the street from the canal rides. Very easy to get to the tram lines. This is a very eclectic collection of decorations and unique designs which make this a special hotel. Cool combinations on their thin crust pizza which we tried for room service. Room is European size, but very... More

Kind staff, good breakfast (not buffet but a la carte), well located just few minutes walking from the touristic places. Regarding the room, I got a two single bed room, it was spacious, clean, good amenities and we even got a bottle of champagne because of my mom birthday! By the way, the restaurant of the hotel is a good... More

We were in Amsterdam area and stayed at this hotel for 4 night. The hotel is very urban and modern which we love. Our room was very roomy, but not a lot of storage. We had our 19 month old baby with us, and it was quiet enough for her. The hotel restaurant was very good, great food, wines and... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
