I'll be honest....I booked this as a surprise weekend away for my husband and chose the vanguard based on the reviews, I wanted it to be really special. So the room was OK and comfy bed, however the food and I was really surprised based on other reviews, was really bad. The lady that owns it directed us to a...

This B&B is at an excellent location, but also just outside the noise of the city center. Cynthia is a great host, and she really made us feel at home. The basement room has a separate bathroom and entrance, so it was very private. We'll be back!

We spent our honeymoon at The Vanguard Secret, which is an apartment under the main house. The welcome we received from Cynthia was warm and friendly. After showing us to our apartment, she asked what we were interested in and guided us on the best places to shop, visit and eat out. The apartment was spacious, nicely laid out and...

I was fortunate to enjoy a second stay at the VanGuard B&B this summer. My son and I stayed in the loft which was charming with a nice view of the canals and it has a rooftop balcony. The steep staircases up are so characteristic of the houses in Holland and should not discourage one from reserving the cozy space...

We felt privileged to stay in the loft of an 1860's house overlooking a canal right in the centre of Amsterdam, beautifully appointed and run by a very special lady called Cynthia, who kept us entertained and informed us about anything we wanted to know while she made us delicious breakfasts. Highly recommend to everyone.

We've just returned from a 2 night stay in this absolutely stunning boutique B&B We were in the 2nd floor room, it was just stunning - with the most amazing views of the canals. Having the whole floor to yourself really makes it feel homely and with lots of privacy. The host - Cynthia is what truly makes the experience...
