    Should be a 5 star
An amazing hotel, we really enjoyed our stay and I couldn’t recommend it any more. The check in process was very smooth, we were even offered a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival. We arrived earlier than check in, however the hotel offered to look after our bags free of charge while we explored which was great. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was very cosy, modern and comfortable, perfect for a city break. The bed was very comfy and the TV had 6 English speaking channels, we also had a drink in the IZAKAYA bar which is attached to the hotel, it was quite expensive with cocktails being around €15 each however you can tell it is an upmarket bar in a trendy area so you can understand the reasons for the prices. The location is great, it’s around a 20 minute walk into the ‘centre’ of Amsterdam, however the area the hotel is in is very trendy and has lots of great shops, restaurants, cafes and even a market, we will definitely be returning to Sir Albert :)
Dear Guest, Thank you for such a nice review. It is very pleasant to read that you had enjoyed your stay with us but also our beautiful city. Indeed we are in a very good location and in a very trendy area that offers many things to do and to explore. We would love to welcome you back any time soon. Warmest regards, Sophie Huisman Hotel Manager

    Great location
The hotel is in a great location, near the main museums, but not too touristy. Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. The buffet breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we've ever had and very luxurious; fresh juices, eggs cooked anyway you like, a huge selection of food on offer and very good quality all round. There are a few niggles: The room was cold each night, and we would have to call reception to change it. The towels are too small for a good hotel. The reading light hanging over the bed is far too bright and we could not use it. I also had to ask for a shower cap, as they had forgotten to leave one, and also no cotton wool. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but one or two seemed a bit impatient and curt.
Dear WriterSheperdsBush, We appreciate you taking a time to share your review. I am happy to read that you enjoyed the breakfast buffet as well the diversity of a la cart items. Also thank you for pointing out the imperfections, this definitely helps us to improve our services and will be dearly noted. Hope to welcome you back! Warm regards, Sophie Huisman Hotel Manager

    We have enjoyed ourselves
Even though we live in the region, we decided to spend the night at Sir Albert after we walked along the Amsterdam Light Festival. Upon arrival, the staff explained that valet service was not possible due to the covid-19 measures. Actually, no problem since the spacious public parking garage called AlbertCuyp is a stone's throw from the hotel. This guarded parking garage has many charging points for electric cars by the way. Back at the hotel, a warm welcome by the people at the front desk, where you can sit comfortably while everything is being put in order. Our room was on the 4th floor. A good size room for city standards with a separate shower and toilet and a lovely soft, comfortable bed. The room was well furnished, including a desk, coffee maker, as well as a steam iron, and an excellent hairdryer. We had booked an extra room for the evening for a small fee which was turned into a small living room with a dining table where it was possible to have dinner delivered from Izakaya restaurant. Breakfast could be ordered by phone in the morning. The service was very friendly and fast. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the omelet was delicious, as were the various pastries. In summary, lovely hotel, a great room, and all the staff are professional, passionate, and friendly.
Dear Frank, Thank you for staying at Sir Albert Hotel. We're very pleased with your elaborate experience description and your positive comments regarding the hotel services, staff and overall location. Hoping to welcome you soon with us again. Best regards, Pieter-Jan Massoels Hotel Manager

We had a miserable experience during our three night stay at Sir Albert. The hotel is advertised as air conditioned, however, it does not have air or any air circulation. The room was stuffy and the shower has zero air circulation with mold growing in the corners. We asked the front desk 4 times if they could address the lack of air and they said they could "reset" our system. Nothing was ever reset or improved. I commented on how much cooler it was in the reception area and they indicated that area was on a different system. One day, after we left for sightseeing and mentioned how hot it was to the front desk, someone entered our room and opened all the windows. When we returned home after a day of sightseeing, our room was extremely hot. I have no idea why they would have let hot air to an already hot room. You can find better hotels in Amsterdam.

Nice hotel, i bit untraditional solutions in room, but it worked good. Nice location. An ok amount of different plces to eat/ have something to drink in nearby area, and even a litle taste of the famous "windows" in the same block, to remind you that you are in Amsterdam (if that is positive or negative depends from person to person)

Dear Jappe, Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your recent stay with us. We appreciate your feedback, and we're glad to hear that you found our hotel pleasant. It's wonderful to know that our unique room features, though a bit unconventional, served their purpose well and contributed to a comfortable stay. We're pleased that you enjoyed our convenient location and the variety of dining and drinking options in the nearby area. Experiencing a touch of Amsterdam's famous "windows" in the same block can indeed be a memorable part of the city's charm, and as you rightly mentioned, perceptions can vary greatly from person to person. We hope you had a great time exploring Amsterdam, and we would be delighted to welcome you back if your travels bring you to our vibrant city again. Best regards, Sander Bos Hotel Manager

The hotel was pretty good. Bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Staff were friendly, smiley and super helpful. Nice neighbourhood, good bar opposite. We hired bikes from the hotel to explore the city. Restaurant looked like it served good food but not much on the menu for vegans. Wish the hotel has a dedicated bar area - not a fan of drinking in a food establishment. Rooms maybe a little bit pricey. But overall a happy customer.

I was really disappointed with my stay at the Sir Albert and it was not what I was expecting from a 4 star hotel that is featured on Mr and Mrs Smith. Upon being shown my room, there was an air con generator outside that was so loud I could hear it in my room. I asked to be moved and was made to feel like I was being difficult. The staff were quite unhelpful and told me there was no same room option that I had booked available so I would have to pay the upgrade to a suite. That is very bad customer service. I asked to speak with the manager and it was only when I pushed was I offered a downgrade (with free breakfast). They then did suddenly find another room of the same category but this was disappointing. The room was tired, broken plug (which I flagged but never fixed) and just generally not of the standard I was expecting. As someone else has already flagged, the air con in the room was terrible and I called 3 times to get this fixed as it was far too hot (no heatwave). I think this is a bigger issue the hotel needs to resolve. Overall, I think for the price there are much better places to stay in Amsterdam.

Sir Albert isn't the cheapest place to stay. So you expect things to be close to on point. Stayed 7 nights here, it took 3 days to get the air conditioner fixed in the room. I believe this was down to a lack of communication between staff. Considering the windows do not open and going through a heat wave this week it wasn't a pleasant experience. Once fixed things the room was better to stay in.

Spent 2 nights here and had 3 rooms- one was the Sir Suite so a bit larger than the other two which were the basic. Those were very small but that is the norm in Europe it seems so i knew to expect that. We arrived early on the train from Brussels and were able to check in immediately to one of our rooms so that was a bonus as they certainly didn't need to do so. Also had a nice welcome cocktail offered. Beds extremely comfy and location was terrific close to a metro station, Albert Cuyp Market and walkable to the museum area. Would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at the Sir Albert got off to a great start, we arrived to a very walm welcome and nicely chilled welcome drinks. The room was nice, clean with good facilities. Until we realised the air con had been locked off at 19 degrees minimum in what was a very hot weather period. We approached reception to see if they could adjust the AC advising we were far too hot, they advised they could not but would provide a fan. No fan arrived, on return to reception to advise again we were told the AC had been reset and that they would check the temperature, if they felt it was fine there would be no need for a fan. Despite asking each day for something to be done, nothing was. It made what could have been a pleasant and comfortable stay disappointing. On one of the nights we tried the restaurant and to say the customer service was lacking would be an understatement. Not the stay we had hoped, but we loved our time in Amsterdam overall.

Dear Michelle, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate your positive remarks about the initial warm welcome, chilled welcome drinks, and the overall cleanliness and facilities of your room. However, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the locked temperature setting of 19 degrees during your stay. We understand that during the particularly hot weather period, the temperature restriction may have made it challenging for you to find the desired level of comfort in your room. While our standard practice is to set the temperature at 19 degrees, which usually proves to be sufficient for most guests, we recognize that individual preferences may vary. We apologize for any discomfort this may have caused you. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we attempted to address your concerns by providing a fan and attempting to reset the air conditioning system. We sincerely apologize that these measures did not meet your expectations or provide the desired relief. Your comments regarding the temperature settings will be shared with our management team to evaluate potential improvements and ensure a more comfortable experience for our guests in similar situations. If there is anything else you would like to discuss or if there is any way we can make it up to you, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns further. Thank you for choosing to stay with us, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back in the future, providing you with an improved experience that meets and exceeds your expectations. Best regards, Sander Bos Hotel Manager
