My partner and I have just come back from a 5 night stay in this amazing apartment. What can I say other than luxury all the way and my heart breaks knowing that the owners have now sold up and will no longer be letting it out as a b&b after May. Michel, Rita if you change your mind please...

My wife and I stayed in the Royal Canal Suite for Valentines trip to Amsterdam . We found hotels were very expensive and for a similar price of a luxury hotel we were able to get the fabulous Royal Canal Suite. We booked using booking.com and after booking received a prompt email from Ria asking us to pay half the...

My husband and I have just returned from 4 nights at The Royal Canal Suite. It was so perfect we didn't want to leave. We booked the apartment at short notice, literally the night before we arrived in Amsterdam, as we were struggling to find a hotel we were happy with. Everything seemed overpriced. The Royal Canal Suite seemed to...

Royal Canal Suite is the most stylish and romantic place I've stayed in Amsterdam (having sampled a good dozen of hotels in the city). The owner, Ria, is a charming host, and has designed this apartment meticulously. Everything from the paintings to the towel patterns have been chosen with great attention to aesthetics. The bathroom is sublime - a huge...

On arrival drinks in the fridge and nuts mints etc.The couple who rent the suite out are lovely and friendly. The suite is clean and very tastefully decorated with amazing painting and furnishings and it is huge. The...

The hostess Ria is friendly & helpful. We did not experience any problems but we got the impression that any difficulties would have been sorted quickly. The apartment itself is large & luxurious with a balcony which opens out to a view of one of the prettiest canals in Amsterdam. Complimentary Prosecco & beer were nice touches. It was a...

Amsterdam is a unique city-gorgeous and vibrant, clean, safe, and friendly. We sure got lucky by booking 3 nights at the Royal Canal Suite. Its location is excellent-within walking distance to everything you want to do and see. It is right on a canal, and so much fun to see boats go by under the spacious windows, as well as...

Unbelievable place and location! Beautiful decor throughout, huge bathroom with twin sinks, steam shower, bath and underfloor heating. It even has one of those beds that electronically raises your head or feet - great for reading,. It's right on the canal in the nicest bit of Amsterdam - Jordaan. Stones through from some great restaurants and bars, and just far...

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
