The website builds this up to be a premium experience. The price suggests this too. But it was not. Our room was pokey and tired, overlooking an ugly concrete wall and roof. You can hear people going up and down creaky stairs at all times. There are no real communal spaces. The service was attentive but within clear limits: no can’t arrange a bike for you, no you can’t have champagne as your welcome drink (only Prosecco!), no we can’t find the right place to eat. The breakfast was absurd - way over engineered michelin wannabe, ended up paying €50 for a portion of scrambled egg, coffee and juice (one person). Had been looking forward to it as a niche boutique experience, but could not have been a bigger gap between the marketing and the reality.

Formerly a mansion belonging to a successful merchant, this building is now a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of historic Amsterdam. The position is fantastic. Quiet location with walking access to everything. Staff couldn't be nicer, whether it's help with bags, museum reservations, or general advice. Overall, we had a fantastic stay as a family.

Hotel 717 is perfectly placed to walk around Central Amsterdam. The room was clean, nicely set out with spacious bathroom. However the staff are this hotel's greatest asset. Helpful and good humoured, they made 717 a home from home. Perfect

Hotel 717 lives up to its buzz and in fact, exceeded our expectations. From start to finish our stay was delightful. We were greeted warmly at the front doorstep and treated to a welcome cocktail after checking in. The property is beautiful! Expertly curated with whimsical, decorative details throughout. Our room was spacious, and the bed + bedding were sublime. Staff was exceptionally kind, with extra special praise earned by Camilla and Wolf who went above and beyond for us! It was quite difficult to leave Hotel 717, although the send-off tin of cookies eased our sadness and heightened our hopes to return asap. Thank you, Hotel 717! We are grateful for you all!

This is a beautiful boutique hotel, and the staff are exceptional. We will always remember Wolf and Raul for their outstanding kindness and restaurant recommendations, and of course our hats go off to Camilla for exceptional service and kindness and the best espresso martini on the planet. We stayed on the second floor with a canal view – a beautiful room with a great view. There is a beautiful restaurant (breakfast and lunch) and bar on the lower level with two beautiful courtyards with outside seating in good weather. The breakfast spread was exceptional and unique, and the light lunch is perfect with a cocktail or glass of wine. Evening cocktails and snacks in the bar area was a perfect way to start the evening. Again, great staff and outstanding boutique hotel experience. Minor recommendation to the owner, the first-floor room, although a beautiful room on the right side of the hallway (Heritage Suite?) could be opened up and converted into a lobby area.

The Hotel 717 was the perfect solution for a one-day layover in Amsterdam. We needed a place to drop our luggage, eat breakfast, and get warm before going out to see the city. The communication and service top-notch. Victory was especially awesome! The breakfast service was unbelievably good--worth every euro. We wished we could've stayed an extra day just to have the breakfast again. The room was beautiful. The location is perfect for seeing the Rijkmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a unique experience at a boutique property.
