Having stayed here twice now, I decided to write a review, this hotel is basic but for my friends and I this was perfect, the location is very good, being in the red light district the noise wasn't bad, the showers are good although shared but they were free whenever we used them so no waiting about. The staff are...

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 3 nights(come home this afternoon) staff are so nice. We rated this 3 stars because the stairs are so so soo steep and narrow you have to be so carefull going up and down. Rooms are very basic they dont have a shower or toilet you have to use the shared one(which is...

Great security, especially for the location! Amazing location, near everything and anything you would want to see. Amsterdam is not that large so we walked everywhere. Definitely recommend to do the Anne Frank House, the Prostitution museum and their Flea Market for local delicacies

+ Helpful and friendly staff. Decent breakfast, location is excellent, 24 hour bar. Nice stay for the money. - Housekeeping enters the room really early 9am on a Saturday is way too early, toilets were sometimes dirty, no AC, wifi laggy. No security box but security was top notch. Not suitable for the elderly or kids. For everyone else its...

Great location in red light district. Close to everything. Perhaps too close. Very noisy at night. Basic rooms comfortable. Very clean shared toilets and showers. Steep narrow stairs to room. Very helpful cordial staff. Very good breakfast though 9am is a bit late

Good location for redlight/central area. Not far from leidsplein. 24 hour bar for guests. Good restaurant for the price. Decent breakfast and the staff where accomadating. Staying in a single room i was beside the stairwell which pretty much meant noise all day and night between the doors stairs and busy areas. But for the price it was pretty fair...

Amsterdam is a beautiful city, full of culture and wonderful opportunities to sightsee amongst the backdrop of years of history. This hotel doesn't fit that bill - it's cheap, has beds, serves decent beer and is smack bang in the middle of all the 'alternative' entertainment you could think of. Parties or stag do's will love it and the owners...

Booked this hotel as a large group of friends staying in a couple of rooms. Got the hotel at a reasonable rate for Amsterdam right in the middle of the red light district. Stairs are very steep and narrow (as are most in Amsterdam) but what hotel in their right mind has construction work going on when guests are staying...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
