I’ve stayed in this hotel 15 hours only. Booked as it was just in front of the central station as I had to catch 4am flight. Thankful to the staff for help to bring my luggage to the room on the stairs and arrange breakfast (fresh bread, croissants, cheese and coffee) at 3am. Room has kettle, tea and water. As for the minuses, the hotel is very old and tired. No lift, tiny stairs which is making hard to drag the luggage.

From the beginning I requested a booking with the option to pay at the property which is higher rate, but they charged one night 15 days before my arrival date. Once we arrived we found: The room is very small and the AC wasn’t working in the first night, we couldn’t sleep due to the very hot temperature. Once we arrive we informed the hotel about this issue and the promised that they will solve the issue during the time we are outside the Hotel, When we came back we find that the AC is not working as it’s not fixable, again we complain to the hotel receptionist he is reply was we can’t do anything, I asked for another room as per him they don’t have. When I told him they have to find a solution, he called the manager, and the give a portable AC which is giving air from one side and hot air from the back, the room temperature become 35 degrees, and we call the reception again the answer was this is what we have, at this time we were unable to move to other hotel and they already charged us with the full stay. The second day they give us another room with working AC, but with construction on site. The breakfast is very poor, we try first day and never again, because you lose your time if you do so, as you will need to have a breakfast somewhere else. Overall it was very bad experience, and became worst when I meet finally the manager during the check out, and he tried to explain that everything is excellent and the temperature was very good and he couldn’t see any issue, AC not working we give portable AC this makes the room hot unfortunately. The problem also that at this room you can’t open the window. The room is underground.

I stayed her maybe 4 hours we went to sleep and then at 3 o’clock in the morning my friend woke me up because they’re was a gnawing sound/ I quickly turned on the lights , the bag of crisps my friends were eating that night had a rat inside . When I turned on the lights it ran across the table were our heads were facing and ran under the bed . My friends were screaming we went down to reception no shoes in no phones ran down. The receptionist went to check our room and placed us in a new one . We were on the top floor when this occurred they need placed us on a room on the lowest floor. If there is rats on the top floor the bottom floor would be cover with them . It was now 4 o’clock and we were afraid to get in the beds . We didn’t sleep and at 8 o’clock they told us we should go have breakfast I was gagging thinking about even eating in this hotel . We went to eat in McDonald’s to eat breakfast out of disgust of this place . Hotel Multatuli is disgusting. The manager Walter Barboza tried to give us only half of our money back as we stayed the night and of course we said we had no choice but to a stay he then gave us the full refund but it will not go into our account until 3 days and that means we have no money and no accommodation. He was no help in this situation he said that we should call our parents for help . That is ridiculous he offered us a hotel that we couldn’t not afford and then said we could continue to stay in this hotel but would have to pay for it I am extremely upset and now have lost a day of my hoilday trying to find somewhere to sleep. I strongly suggest no one stays in this hotel . Please do not eat here

Reviews of this hotel had us a little sceptical however we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was small and quaint, about what you would expect for a hotel in Amsterdam. Rooms were small but clean, and everything functioned as it should. The breakfast included was good. We were leaving early on our last day and they started the breakfast an hour early to accommodate us. The staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful in suggesting restaurants and places to see. We would stay there again should we return to Amsterdam.

The hotel is located in the centre of the town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room it’s fine for a city break. A good continental breakfast. They offer lockers if you arrive before checking and after checkout. Close to all main attractions.
