Lock up your personal belongings and do not leave anything of value in your room. We were out for only a couple of hours after checking in and we were robbed! Thank god only a carton of smokes and sunglasses but if there was anything else in the room of value that would have been taken also. We reported it... More

I wanted somewhere cheap close to the station and with 3 beds close to Centraal Station. This place ticked all the boxes. The room was clean and neat. Bathroom small but all we needed. Mattresses very soft but my 2 boys thought they were great. Staff on reception friendly and helpful. Some of the complaints I read on here were... More

Plus: Location, Bar, Staff were nice Very Big Negative: the rooms are just not acceptable in 2016 anymore. Filthy bathroom, not even a real shower. Your are flooding the whole bathroom when showering. Booked double bed room, but got 2 singles. Overall not a pleasent stay, price not justified for it. It's a shame as location is nearly perfect and... More

This hotel was a nightmare. We spent there 4 nights last April around King's Day. Worst experience ever. It was crazy expensive, the room was last floor, no elevator and only a steep staircase, it was very hard to take our luggage upstairs. The triple room was - SURPRISE - not very clean, stains on the bed, ugly and dirty... More

The reason for my title Awful is because the room we had for three people was very small...no room between the beds, mine was right next to a window, was worried about rolling out of the window into the street!! the shower room was somehow built into the room..not spacious AND on our first night we popped out for a couple of... Ok rooms bit dated and shabby but was only to sleep in so wasn't bothered, smoking is allowed in rooms which is a bonus in Amsterdam of course haha nice brekkie included in the price drinks at the bar are expensive but so is everywhere in the city so be warned. Think we paid €40 each per night in a... More

Friendly staff. Rooms were basic and the location is on a very busy street that has plenty of options for food, but this also means that the street can be quite busy into the early hours. Would recommend for younger people who are more likely to be out enjoying themselves into the small hours, not really for people wanting their... More

I travelled with my 12 year old daughter, the hotel room was fine, but the location and the the pub area we had to walk through wasn't really appropriate. Also the view we had was of a wall and a courtyard. This seemed to be the place where people smoked which went straight into the windows. There are signs that... More

If your a group of young guys then this place will be perfect. Great staff! Perfect location! Brekfast was great! Room was small and you have to wait a few minutes in between showering as the bathroom was easily flooded but not a real problem. Coffeeshop next door and red light district only few minutes away.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
