Basic hotel but in a great location. Rooms are very small but if you're looking for something right in the centre of Amsterdam this is a good value hotel. Can get noisy at night if you're trying to sleep as it is right by the red light district but apart from that it is a nice basic hotel and comes... More

The location is great. very easily accessible for all the major attractions in Amsterdam. The hotel beds are worst and in very bad condition. Room and bathroom are smaller than you can think. No basic amenities were provided. The lady on first day was not very helpful but the gentleman second day assisted us very well and he was very... More

Look, Hotel Doria is good. It's in a central location which was really beneficial with only three nights in Amsterdam to see everything. However, the room itself was average. It was really clean which you'd expect but really small (enough floor space for your suitcases). Being a tall man, the bathroom was very cramped and a struggle to move in... More

The location of this hotel really helped make our holiday! it was within walking distance of everything! Room was clean. food was excellent. breakfast was lovely. staff are very nice & so helpful! only one minor thing - the bedding was clean although the mattress had a lot of stains that was the only thing i could say. I would... More

A previous review spoke of it being noisy. It's on a street off the main square. It was always going to be noisy. The hotel was just fine. The rooms were big enough to have a cot. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Well worth the money. I would definitely come back

I have stayed here a few times now. Your smack bang in the middle of everythink. Great value for money. 10mins walk from station and 1 min from red-light district. Breakfast is also OK not amazing but will find something you want

The very central location is the one element that makes this hotel's price/quality ratio appealing, especially considering the average really high prices for hotel rooms in central Amsterdam. Room was tiny -single bed and could barely open my luggage-, and the bathroom, although clean, definitely needed some renovation. Didn't try breakfast.

This hotel is a gem - it is literally just off of Dam Square, the staff i really friendly and helpful, the room was spotless and the buffet breakfast is ~heavenly~ The only thing I regret is not staying at this hotel on my previous trip to Amsterdam! The pizza shop downstairs was a god-send for late night snacks :)... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
